  1. You have that look of madness about you mind. How long had you been in the traffic for and does your cooling fan work. Remenmber reading somewhere that the auto ecu will shut the box down if it gets told its to hot. And in the time it took for green flag the box cooled down. Just a thought mind. so could be wrong
  2. Have you had the car plugged in to see if there are any fault codes
  3. Youve answered your own question .you can get the bits you need quite cheaply from the dealers
  4. What do you mean by pinging noise. Is the noise there when you use the center switch
  5. The nimbers on the fuse is the amp rating. so putting a 30 amp into a 7.5 amp isnt adviable because if you have a power/surge/spike or fault it will fry the stereo unit. So get it changed A.S.A.P
  6. Have you checked the wiring to the switch. and why not `give it a try with the engine running also does the switch in between the seat work the suspension ok and finaly have you got a tow bar fitted (just incase anyone has used the power supply for the switch to the tow bar)
  7. Have you checked the fuse on the back of the stereo unit. Pull the stereo out and remove the multiplugs fron the back and youll see the fuse
  8. Really there not suspension struts there hydraulic rams and as such will have a fine coating of fluid round the top. Ive seen quite a few like this and theres nothing wrong with it at all and certanley dosnt need changing. So youve now got 2 opyions option 1 try to explain to the tester about them being hydraulic rams. But unless he knows citroens it will be hard as a lot of people make this mistake. Option 2 Get a tin of brake/clutch cleaner and clean them of then take it back and itl pass. If he asks why there not new one tell him there from a scrappy
  9. Hi youve made a good choice with your car and what youve got is just couple of niggles. Lights ok then the lights will be when you 1st switch the ignition on and will go out after a couple of seconds. if so then its your comm unit and your best bet is to just live with it. mpg display The daft miles per galon your getting on the display will happen when you have it on the mpg setting and you ease of the acelarator or dip the clutch and coast. This is because your car is using next to no fuel and the compute calculates thats what mileage you would get if you could drive like that. so your system is working perfectly fine so cross that of your list. stereo Well in technical terms its knackered and with yours being a mk1 you wont have any problems putting a aftermarket stereo in. depending on what you get you may lose the stalk control and center display (leads are available if you still want them to work). And a 10 quid adapter plate makes the stereo fit the housing perfect best regards steve
  10. Got a rear blind 07800604498 and well sort it out
  11. Get your battery load tested free at any motorist discount store as it sounds like your battery is goosed
  12. I would of thought so. Theres a firm down hartlepool that recons them for around the £200ish mark if its any good to you
  13. I would of thought so. Theres a firm down hartlepool that recons them for around the £200ish mark if its any good to you
  14. Go to the scrappys £50 tops a 406 one will fit if you cant get a c5 one
  15. I take it you have the switch on the dash to lock the doors if so and its not working then check your fuses also check to see where the power for your meter is picked up as ive seen them connected to any live available
  16. ok sort of getting it. Im assuming that the thrust bearing has went through the pressure plate. This is assuming youve got every thing disconected from the box and you can rotate it but it just wont seperate from the engine. check the fulcrum arm and see if it will move back and forth if it is jammed right up against the end of the box and wont move then that is what has happend. if so the only way will be brute force to split the box from the engine. try to keep the engine and box straight at all times. You could try levering or hiting the fulcrum arm to see if it will pull the bearing out. keep us informed though
  17. I would definatley start by ckecking the batterey/alternator and fan belt for tension. Next check the bulbs to see if theyve been altered what kind of headlights you got
  18. Yes swap away
  19. Might be best if you repost your question only this time give more info on what it is you want to do and what you want to know. The posting you have put on isnt very clear
  20. if Your getting the pipe from the dealers then its easier than changing a brake pipe as it comes pre shaped for the car. Although a ramp will make the job easier i supose it could be done on your drive provided the its a level driveway. if you put a block of wood on a jack to support the tank and lower it a couple of inches you can then get to it by putting your hand through the ispection hole under the rear seat. Youve done the hard bit by depressurising the system without a lexia ha ha. Anyway once youve replaced the pipe just fill up with lds and the car will do the rest no diagnostics needed
  21. Switch your ignition on then press and keep pressed the end of the light stalk youl eventually hear a bing and display will say auto lights on/off. if that dosnt sort it then id be thinking about replacing the com unit. Do you get a passenger airbag deactivated warning at all
  22. Hi i run c5s as taxis but have bought no 1 son a saxo 1.1 as his first car 2002 desire model. Anyway just a quick question when the key fob/imobiliser is used to unlock/lock the doors should the indicators be flashing on the model many thanks steve
  23. Is it from hon kong or not also is laptop with it and finaly what part of the country you in
  24. If the seal has gone on the sphere then youl have to change it. If it fails altogether then it will dump all your fluid out and leave the car sitting on its backside going nowhere
  25. Hi right then where to start the Fan Weve found that 9 out of 10 times its the the wiring harnes and the relays imediatley to the right of the radiator under a black cover they corrode ove the years and the terminals on the relays also corrode. So take the bumper off and check them making sure you check the harness as far back as you can. the dashboard if you look at the bottom of the dash youl see 2 small holes if you use 2 credit cards or similarand push them into the seam where the dash cluster meets the dashboard and youl fell them click the dash will then just pull out from the bottom upover. the whole problem in general that your having while not knowing the answer without looking at the car id star by checking the wiring harnes next to radiator then the earths on the car also every fuse both inside and engine bay using a multimeter and not relying on just looking at them. if nothing found then id start thinking about the comm or bsi unit because when your stereo is beepin it means it not coded into the bsi unit then other times it is as the beeping stops. have you done a bsi reset on the car and do you have acsess to diagnotic tools to plug the car in are you in the north east And just a daft one have you recently installed/taken out a hands free kit
