  1. Next time it happens if you can keep the pedal pressed and see if your brake lights are on as the brake light switch tells the ecu to unlock the gear selector. if all is fine there then you need to be checking the shift lock switch on the lever itself. I would be having a good look at the wiring as with it being a inermitant fault it could just be a loose wire. Anyway heres a bit info on how to get it out of park if the fault becomes permenent SHIFT LOCK The shift lock is a system which locks the gear selection lever in the park position «P». Unlocking the «shift lock» (normal operation). Switch on the ignition. Apply the brake pedal and keep it pressed. Using the selection lever, disengage from position «P». Unlocking the «shift lock» (with a fault). NOTE : It is impossible to unlock the «shift lock» with the « normal operation» method. The causes of the fault may arise from the following components : - «Shift lock». - Gear lever position switch. - Automatic gearbox ECU. - Electrical harnesses. - Battery voltage. Remove : - The gear lever knob (1) by pulling upwards. - The cover (2) (unclip). - The shutter. Unlock the «shift lock» (4) using a screwdriver. Using the selection lever, disengage from position keep us updated please
  2. Been doing some more reading up on this and the jelly stuff that was clogging the filter is actually the dead microbes Copyed the following of the site i was reading Fungus and Bacteria These micro-organisms live in water and feed on the hydrocarbons found in fuel. Called Humbugs for short, these active and multiplying colonies will spread throughout a fuel system and quickly plug a fuel filter. The fuel filter will have a slime coating over the surface of the media, dramatically reducing the service life of the filter. Bacteria may be any color, but is usually black, green or brown. Draining the system will reduce microbial activity, but will not eliminate it. The only way to eliminate microbial growth once it has started is to clean and treat the system with a biocide.
  3. Finding it hard to take all this in. well after making a few phone calls today weve found out the what it is and what caused it and from what weve been told this morning in the next few years its going to be a big problem with diesel engines As J.D correctly said its a bug a microbe ( theres 20 different types of bug) that lives in the diesel tank all it needs is one tiny drop of water and inside of 12 hours youve got a big problem if left untreated it will do filters/pumps/injectors heres the link to who we were talking to inhttp://liquideng.co.uk/content/view/69 Now nearly every diesel has these bugs and it just needs the right condions and of it goes. we were told to check the filler cap seal and sure enough it was goosed so every time the van was getting jetwashed and the owner was giving extra atention to the filler flap to get rid of the diesel trails he was giving the microbes a all you can eat buffet. The cure Clean and flush the fuel system then give the van a tablet once a week for 12 weeks yes a tablet once a week When i started serving me time you needed a hammer/screwdriver/few spanners and oxy/acetlyne and you could fix anything. Now you need diagnostics and tablets to fix them i sometimes wonder if things arnt going a bit to far or maybe its time i retired and moved back to holland
  4. Not a citroen but it dosnt really matter in this case. Got a vivaro in as it was running rough anyway traced it to no fuel. Anyway the fault is down to a blocked furl filter so put another 1 in and it ran for 20 miles then gunged up again. So now we know the tank and lines are coming of to be cleaned. Now this is were the wealth of experience that is on this site is going to give me the answer. The filter is blocked with what can only be described as jelly just like what goes with a trifle. theres loads of it in the tank as we had camera down. put it on the bench and it will wooble it has no smells its just a colourless jelly. Van has locking fuel cap and all diesel recipts from garage for fuel. Made loads of phone calls today and no one has come across this before. will post more info tomorow after weve took the tank off

  7. As jd has said youve probally got a slow puncture if not that then youve topped a tyre up with air regulary so youve probally got 90psi in the tyre at the moment
  8. John What part is it. is it the return pipe for the hydraulics. im confused now
  9. Im assuming your refering to a flexi brake pipe. If so then just go to any motor discount store theyl get you one . Find it hard to belive that they havnt got a flexi instock have you tried other branches. We use town center citroen parts and there sh1t hot. Give them a ring its 01915168822 ask for wayne or dave.Depending on where you are they might be able to post it at your cost
  10. Had this fault in just last week. Turned out to be rear hieght adjuster punter would lock car up and go after 5 mins the suspension pump would start and continue till battery went flat. traced it back to hieght adjuster. Quick way to check is go under car and disconect the wiring from the adjuster His also started by blowing fuses
  11. Plugging it in is the next step forward then, But a common fault on the comm units is to disply airbag faults. was it a new or second hand comm unit
  12. Have you had the steering rack checked as the return valve could be at fault. Why was the pump changed. Also is the steering ok
  13. Im asuming this has got to be a wind up. Anyway if you look at the top of the page you posted on it says how to change front pads. move the mouse pointer over it till it goes a different shape then press the left hand mouse button ( by the way its not a real mouse) and up will pop all you need.
  14. Were the faults there before changing the com unit. And plugin it in is your next step forward
  15. Tell the garage to take the car out in for a run using the live data on the diagnostic. Firstly though next time it does it disconect the mass air flow and see if theres any differance (your looking for a loss in power) if theres no differance then think about replaceing the maf after youve checked the wiring to it
  16. Car came in today with a injector seal gone (copper washer/seal at the bottom of injector) its been blowing for a couple of months now. Anyway finaly got injector out as it was carboned in only to find that the seal at the bottom is carboned in aswell. been trying all day and it just wont budge normally they just pull up with a pick/screwdriver having tryed everything it just wont move. Feel quite limited as to what we can do as anything that goes down the injector hole will go straight onto the top of the piston so cant drill also tryed the oxy acytelene but with it being such a small hole the tip keeps blowing back. Any suggestions
  17. Do the com units have to be coded into the bsi unit as ive got a spare com
  18. Your right i did forget ha ha. Check your shift lock and brake switch and finally the back of the ignition barrel Steve
  19. The green plug is for the stereo display/remote/facia lights. The antena wire will go behind the glove box towards the door the pull the door weather seal off put the cacle through it and replace door seal ( never ever ever do this with a live wire) or along the inner sill guards and under back seat into the boot and out onto the roof that way
  20. Next time it does it push or tow the car and see if it fires up straight away if it does then its not the fuel side. then let us no
  21. 2 litre hdi rhz switch ignition on or start engine up and the side lights come on also idicate right and the high beam comes on. No fault codes or any other faults. Any ideas anybody (got a feeling its the com unit)
  22. If you remove the sender unit from the tank. Youl see that the sender unit splits in 2 once split youl see a gauze filter ( 3 inches by 4) it just pushes onto the bottom of the pick up pipe either clean it or replace it. Is he having problems with the car or is it just preventive maintenance hes doing

  25. Wouldnt bother changing any of the lambda,s if i were you as the fault is the cat and the lambdas are just the messengers reporting the fault to the ecu who then puts the mil/anti poliution fault on.
