Wouldnt think its your temp gauge mind because if it was you would have other problems as the ecu wouldnt know what temperature you engine is at. When you drained the fluid did you bleed the system properly with the 2 bleed niples

Get about 5 inches of bog standard brake pipe and push it into the rubber tube about a inch and a half at either end and that will be the end of the problem. The rubber pipe just isnt long enought and snaps. Adding the brake pipe puts in right and seals up perfect
