You're right. After refilling the tank the ECU needs to be told about it. You'll need to contact some one with Lexia.

Changing C5 Front Parking Sensor Without Removing Bumper?
Johndouglas replied to citrophile's topic in C5 - Technical
If you prise out the panel which acts as the fog light surround, the end sensor is fitted into the surround. And maybe? - if the fog light was removed, there would be room to reach down to work on the inside two. -
There are different types of fuel filter fitted to the C5s. To open the lid in the second picture, the ring screws off and the top cover lifts out. Before turning the ring remove the two fuel lines by pressing down on the white insert and pulling the fitment off the stub. The electrical connector also needs to be removed. The forked clip needs to be lifted. On the later type the fuel lines are removed, also the electrical connector. A close fitting socket is used to unscrew the lid. In both types use a new rubber gasket. I find it useful to spread old rags under the filter bowl to catch any spilt fuel. Also an old ice cream container is useful to have at the ready to receive the old filter.

Starting With Clutch Pedal Depressed
Johndouglas replied to seefive's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
The theory is that it helps during very cold weather because the gearbox oil is thick and cold and by dipping the clutch the shafts in the gearbox are no longer forced to turn. -
That's good news. It's a great feeling when your sick car is up and running again. May you and your car keep well.

I think you might have hit on a solution there. Give it a try.

In my opinion mileage is the more important factor. 75K is what I would be aiming for. 18 months ago I did my little Saxo's belt for the first time. That was when it was 14 years old but only with 40K miles on the clock. The old belt looked good for its age.
-
Thinking back to when we had a couple of Pug 205s, the centre bearing needed a few taps to help it from the housing.
-
It would worry me to be driving on a cambelt that had done more than 100,000 miles. I had my C5 changed at around 75K. Certainly Citroen will not be forthcoming with financial help when your snapped belt has resulted in a damaged engine, so I would disregard their recommendation and change it earlier.

Have you checked the battery leads - not only the positive to the starter but the neg to earth?
-
Sometimes they come up on ebay.
-
After fitting the new battery did you do the reboot procedure? On the off chance you didn't, here it is:- Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.). Switch on the side lights through the driver's window. Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. Remove key open & close door test central locking system. Start the engine and complete the system's check. Reset the clock and date.

Did you look on ebay? I'm not saying they'll fit your particular car but there are several on there. Here's one for starters.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diesel-Particle-Filter-for-Citroen-C5-01-04-/370713776457?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ACitroen%7CModel%3AC5&hash=item5650435149 Search for particle filters.

Is Service.citroen.com Down? Or At A New Site?
Johndouglas replied to sifaan's topic in C5 - Technical
It's working as usual for me. -
Quote:--- he can put the car in any gear and the car will not move even with the clutch pedal up Is that with the engine running? Best thing to do would be to get hold of a Haynes manual

Three or 4 years ago I had this same trouble with starting when the temperature was low. Eventually I took it to my local Citroen dealer to have it looked at. At first they said the battery had been changed and the replacement did not have the correct capacity. They wanted to fit another one but I declined and borrowed one. Although it was fully charged, it was no better on the first start of the day. Then they discovered the starter wasn't turning over fast enough to provide sufficient fuel pressure. A replacement starter solved the problem. PS: I'm surprised that a 2.0ltr engine of 2003 date had a particle filter.

First Post - Temperature Gauge Slow
Johndouglas replied to seefive's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
And a happy new year to you. My 2005 2.0ltr C5 does the reverse of yours. The coolant needle moves up fairly quickly but the oil temperature is much slower to register. -
I think what you've been told about the ECU needing reprogramming with new injectors is correct. But not so with the MAF

Thank you Paul - And a Happy & Prosperous New Year to all.

Peugeot-Citroen In Trouble
Johndouglas replied to seefive's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
It seems that when PSA need to economize they do it on the Citroen brand. So they've given the C6 the chop and dispensed with hydraulic suspension on most of the C5 range. Maybe soon all they'll need to do is either fit a Peugeot or Citroen badge on a different front end.. B). -
I think that 12.3volts is a bit on the low side for a winter start. It might be that it's not turning the engine fast enough to build up fuel pressure. How old is your battery? A fully charged battery should read 12.7 to 8.

Isn't the tax disc already obsolete? If the traffic police tap in your reg number they can see immediately whether or not you have current tax; whether you have an MOT certificate or whether you have insurance. Even a police car running around with a number plate camera on board sounds an alarm if it reads a plate without tax, insurance or MOT. So your tax disc is probably only ever looked at by a parking attendant.

If it does become law, let's hope there's a sell by date applied to every tyre. I got two new ones fitted just two months ago and their dates are 24/12 - so already 18 months old.
-
Unless the particle filter has been removed and replaced with a straight piece of pipe (as I believe some cars have) how is any MOT centre to know? A visual inspection doesn't tell the tester anything and they can't dismantle to have a look. OK - they may introduce in the future a meter to test exhaust pressure, but changes to garage equipment will take time and extra expense to install. The MOT fee has recently been frozen till 2015, and at the same time several new test features have been introduced. Garages will be reluctant to increase the amount of time taken for each test without an increase in fee. So will we just be left with the smoke test for the foreseeable future? Then there's this latest idea on the EU's wish list - that MOT inspections and garage repairs be divorced from each other. It must be a worrying time for garages. Having said all that, with the smoke measure reduced to 1.5 for turbo diesel vehicles registered after 2008, I don't know that I'd want to risk removing the dpf, because it does increase the smoke level a little bit.

A 306 with a 1.4 engine in it which I used to service had a timing belt interval of 80000miles or 5 years - which ever comes up first. If your engine is the same, unless it has already had a change, it's due about now. As far as mileage goes, I prefer to change the belt quite a bit before it's on the limit. Also worth fitting a new auxiliary belt at the same time and also changing the waterpump.
