  1. This is a common thing with tyre places... You should always at least remove the nuts (if you can) where they use these guns and hand tighten, thats normally how tight they have to be. Other wise when you are on the hardshoulder on the M5 with your Citroen Supplied Wheel Brace the only thing you will succeed in doing is removing the skin from you knuckles. Alloy wheel owners should also be aware of hub to wheel corrosion (Dissimilar Metals) that takes place and can be a nightmare to get off. A recent puncture required me to find a piece of wood to aid the removal of wheel by levering/banging it against the tyre to get the punctured tyre off. Not something you can find easily whilst pulled in for emergancy at Tesco Metro. In addition to the supplied kit I always carry gloves, 12"x 8" piece of ply to support jack on soft ground, small tube of waterless hand cleaner and an old clean beer towel for cleaning up afterwards. As sods law dictates in every occasion I have had a puncture I have been wearing smart work wear!
  2. Did you get round to finishing off that pic of the shopping trolly Stu?
  3. Without the spoiler I just think it looks...."bald" Something just doesnt look right without it. Get on Ebay and get yerself a spoiler you know it makes sense! :D
  4. So what about the BMC Mini then? Meets all your criteria and more. It has the added (and quite handy) ability of being able to go around corners maintaining a sensible speed and not having to worry about it leaning over so far your ear rubs the tarmac :D I'm mean you'd never see a CV doing this would you? It would be in the nearset verge.... http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2900/981bbx4.jpg http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/8670/e81bmd1.jpg The C4 is a completly different car though, you cant compare them as they are designed and built for two completly different markets, of completly different technologies..... Just because press reviews rave about cars also doesnt make them good cars...
  5. However... next to Foci's and Astraw's et al nothing else looks smoother than a C4. :D
  6. Had a similar situation with a couple having a good old forecourt wander round the car whilst park in town. Also we pulled up in a car park once and a couple were giving us "evils"...as we got out thinking they were about to come and have a go about something they came over and asked if we would mind quickly letting them have a look inside and see the boot (?!) When parked in a car park I think C4's do tend look the business compared to others, for a start the bonet profile always sticks out more than other euroboxes!
  7. Yes... this one! :D :D I dont think you will find another forum like this one as it is quite unique. Very friendly, no big headedness just us all having "pub chat" about C4's. You will tend to notice that a lot of the topics start off with good intentions but end up going off on a complete tangent into dribbling conversations about something else. Everyone on here knows that and doesnt mind that it does (or at least I dont think they mind!) Also alot of leg pulling and zero arguments. And the most important thing is that it isnt over moderated to the extent that you feel like you are taking part in a communist regieme. :D
  8. "Take Aim" "FIRE!" Are you mad?! :D
  9. Welcome to the forum matey  I'm sure everyone will make you feel welcome here
  10. At least you honest and not a true swot!
  11. I never did enjoy science, especially Chemistry.
  12. Thats what I thought when I typed it but am sure thats what it said. I guess it expands as it gets hot with friction but surly that would increase tyre wear?!
  13. Ah good to see our discussions support others  Just had a flick thorough and prefer this site
  14. Repaired for the princly sum of 131notes. Looked a complete knobend trying to blag my non exsistant works divvie. I "wasnt allowed" to drive the VTS into the tyre changing bay "welcome gramps" had to do it. I'm a smidge over 6'2" he was about 70 and about a touch over 5'. As I handed the keys over I saw him get in and was hillarious could just about see his head over the line of the windows swallowed up by the interior. Nice chap though although the car came back with the lights wipers settings going all over the place. Charged me for valves even though they kept the sensors...when questioned was told it is included in the standard balancing and valves fee...even though my valve was itemised at £3 didnt argue just made the point of being charged for something I didnt get. Also interesting on the wall an advert claimed that by paying them to fill your tyres with Nitrogen(?) it saves tyre wear by 25%...how'd that work then? So all I'm wondering now is where the next screw is waiting for me?..oooo er :(
  15. Whats this? :( Have you guys left me out of something I dont know about? ;) Booo hoo
  16. Stuey You have never been so right! Unfortunatly my computer at work doesnt have the luxury of Photoshop but thankfully Internet Access..my usage has gone through the roof recently! :( Stuey another thought. In your theroetical VXR if you were to ever get caught short and not have your roof bars on you, you can always substitute them with a shopping trolly and long bungees stretched to and from each jacking point...will look a bit heath robinson but would "get you home" Not sure what would happen when you go over those things that lock the trolley wheels at the supermarket exits though.... ;) That might cause a small problem
  17. ;) :(
  18. I never have seen the appeal in the looks of Vauxhalls... You could do, probably handle better :( ;)
  19. :( I havnt been to those parts since they started buggering about with the end of the M32... I'm up there in the North Part of town....in fact South Glous...!
  20. Believe it or not Stuey at the weekly shop at Tescos lastnight I parked near a Silver VXR and it had roof bars fitted so perhaps this saves any damage to the roof when you flip it? Wish I took a pic as it looked more sheeeeite than normal. Probably helps them slow it down a bit too. :(
  21. Why worry about the hedges when you also need to worry about the white line in the middle of the road and not crossing it! :( I'd imagine Vauxhall under calibrate the odometer as well for all the extra distance you travel going sideways but not necessarily in a straight line. You can see the VXR Marketing Tag Line now... Get from A to D....via B to C and back to B then back to C and back to B then back to C and back to B then back to C and finally You arrive at D....
  22. Its amazing what you can do with a bit of corougated roof sheet, cereal boxes, dustbin lids, spare bit of tent canvas and a cranking handle from a garden lawn mower...probably goes like one as well! Who will be first to put an order in?
  23. Problem with that is Front Wheel Drive -you'd squirt the throttle and go sideways with torque steer wouldnt you? Shedding tyres might also be a prob ;) Put a new aspect on driving I guess. :(
  24. I'm sure they will find some excuse why 10% failure is completly acceptable, after all its only out of 40 cars. They will quote precisely how many cars have been sold in the UK and tell you that the figure is less than e.g.3%. The same happened on my Focus, a forum in excess of 300 people all having the same problems e.g. Timing Belt Pre Tensioners snapping causing cam belt to go wild and making a bit of a mess under the rocker cover, clutch master cylinder going bang squirting juices all on your clutch plates... all very ££££ jobs, but to Ford it is not a common reoccuring fault to warrent a recall on over a large number of vehicles, all jobs I ended up arguing getting nasty about who was going to pay for what as wioth other members of the forum. I'm with you Wozza I'd argue the toss with them all the way, you just know that they are going to pull some gem out of the bag that will make your life as hard as possible to claim under warenty. Good luck mate :(
  25. I have managed to get £131 at Brittania Tyres in Fishponds plus a 5% discount through work. Where abouts in Bristol are you Xavita? I'm not overly fussed about the tyres to be honest I just want them to match at least in pairs not have odd ones dotted on each corner. I had some 10" Dunlop SP's once, they were the bees knees grippy and good performance in wet. The only problem would be I would need one hell of a tyre lever to get them to stretch onto 17" Wheels.
