Welcome to the forum. Possibilities could include the servo, the hose to the servo, the vacuum pump (leaking/broken drive lug), a non return valve on the servo hose where it connects to the servo, seized brakes needing a clean, a brake hose problem, the cross shaft from the brake pedal to the servo seized bearings - if there is one. The servo you can check to see if the pedal is pumped so it goes hard and then if it goes soft/further down when the engine is started. The servo seals/non return valve might be checked since it ought to maintain vacuum in the servo after the engine is stopped, so if the pedal is used some time after stopping the engine it takes a few pushes for the pedal to go hard. The vacuum pump should not be noisy or have any signs of oil leakage - listen to it when the noise appears. It is located on the gearbox end of the cylinder head.

Welcome to the forum. I can not help other than to suggest a look at the parts diagrams may help you see something that could be faulty (or visit a dealer). The parts can be seen as a free service on the service.citroen site if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres If you use your VIN (VIS) at the top left it will show your van.

Welcome to the forum. I guess with the exclusive you have automatic heating. If so it is likely one of the 2 electric motors that controls the air flaps has failed or its connection to the flap has broken. A new motor will be around £60 based on the price of one for a C5 a couple of years ago. These motors are on the right side of the heater unit, possibly high up. There is also one on the air recirculation flap. It should take 30 minutes to replace one so it should be an easy job.

I do not think there will be any 8mm AF (across flats) bolts/nuts on the exhaust or manifold, this size is similar to brake bleed screws and would not be strong enough. Can you reach the ones already in place with an open ended or ring spanner to get the size ? Looking at the parts diagrams for the TU5JP4 1.6 16v 110 hp engine and for the 1.6 100 hp engine (but not the 1.6 90 hp engine), they show the exhaust middle section is held at its front end by spring loaded bolts with lock nuts and at the back box end by a clamp. If your car still has the original Citroen exhaust (or a Citroen replacement), then from experience of replacing the exhaust on a 2003 C3 with the same spring loaded bolts, I would get a new set of bolts/nuts from Citroen. The nuts are tight to remove and over the years can suffer from the heat. I used a replacement from Eurocarparts and they supplied the sealing ring and the bolts but the bolts were wrong (at the time I re-used the old ones) and the sealing ring did not last. The kit of parts - bolts/nuts/washers/springs/sealing ring is part no. 179774 and is the same as used on the C3 1.4 petrol 8v engine - the heads of the bolts are 13mm AF and the nuts are 10 mm AF. So it looks as if you will only need a long socket for the 10 mm nuts, get a 6 point one since it is less likely to round off the nut corners. The socket length up to the ratchet needs to be at least 15 mm.

It could be something simple such as a crankshaft sensor which is unlikely to give a fault code.
-
tampenny, do you have the engine management light on and if so what are the fault codes or what problem do you have ? For this fault also all the sensor connecting hoses should be checked for any leaks/splits at the ends which can reduce the vacuum and result in the apparent faults of the turbo and other problems. hannah_gleeson has not been on the forum since 4th August 2014 so we may not get an answer from this member.

The Service light can be all sorts of things such as the key fob battery needing replacement, the car battery voltage low, the front brake pads worn, wrong engine oil level, low washer fluid level, etc but would usually have another message saying what is wrong.

Welcome to the forum. Many of us have the C5 for towing a caravan and want the self leveling suspension provided by the hydractive suspension.

C3 Picasso Orange Dashboard Light
paul.h replied to Jobbers's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Welcome to the forum. The C3 Picasso has been out for many years and this is the first time it has been mentioned on here, other than being queried as making it look like a taxi. I think the C4 to 2010 model also lights to the front through the speedo. I would have a word with your Citroen dealer to check the legality and maybe get them to give you something in writing that it is legal in case your daughter is stopped again. You could also join the Picasso forum and post the same question there http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/ If you are concerned about the light then you could consider covering it with a bit of card. -
Is this any good ? http://www.lexia3.com/lexia-3-citroen

To get to the resistor the sound insulation has to be removed from under the dash (driver's side). It looks to be at the left on the heater unit and it is held by a single bolt and has 4 wires going in to it. The Citroen part no. may be 6436C4.
-
The Haynes manual does not give the bulb type so you may need to remove one first to be able to get a replacement to match.
-
Looking at the parts diagrams, the flap unit that directs the air from either outside or the inside to the heater is behind the dash around the steering column area. If this leaks a bit so outside air can go from outside and direct in to the cabin then it would not be heated. If this is the source of the problem then if the blower is on, any leakage would be sucked into the heater so the problem would not occur. If I remember I will give it a try and report back.

According to the RTA manual for the C5 (X7) you need to use Total Fluide DA. This may well be the same as LDS fluid but you should get it from a Citroen dealer to make sure you get the right fluid. Do not use anything else since this could damage any seals and the C5 (X7) is known for leaking steering racks - see the Common Problems pinned topic. If the level has gone down then you should have a look for leaks.

Welcome to the forum. On one of the C5 sections there is a pinned post of members able to help others with diagnostics. There are not many but if you are willing to help then feel free to add yourself. -
Thanks for getting back to us. Good job you did not believe the dealer initially. I guess the handbrake did not work that well either.

Configure Cd Changer Locally Dursley/gloucester/bristol Area
paul.h replied to 5patr5's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
There are a lot of cables connected to the back of the radio and I do not know what they are for but everything you describe seems to be connected (from memory). I tried searching for any info or pictures and looked at the parts diagrams. One of the extra connectors may be for the screen cable and a microphone is also shown on the parts but there is nothing in the procedures that suggests what anything is for. The configuration procedure says there may be 1 or 2 aerial connectors if there is a dual tuner. It is also wired up for a cd changer but one is not installed but I do not know if this would be the other connector. It also has front and rear parking sensors but I do not know how these are connected. In the glove box are 3 round aux inputs like on old video recorders so maybe these connect to the radio. -
There is a coolant expansion tank on the driver's side wing with a cap to undo and not one on the radiator. To check the fluid level the plastic wing cover may need to be removed (lift up the button in the clips and then pull off the clips, plus possibly a torx head screw at the front end). This will/should be in the handbook and will be in the Haynes manual. I am not sure about your car year, but on later ones Citroen use a long life OAT anti freeze that is a pale yellow colour. If you need to top up the level, you should check that you use a compatible anti freeze. I replaced the anti freeze on our 2003 C3 with dealer supplied Citroen Glysantin G33 anti freeze but this is a blue colour. I did not fully flush out the old anti freeze and later some grease appeared in the expansion tank which may have been a result of different anti freezes. So if you need toadd any, first try mixing a bit of old and new to see if there is any compatibility problem and if so, it may be better to drain the old out and do a flush before adding the new.

I do not know which model/engine your car is, but different capacity batteries are fitted depending on the model. Your dealer should sort out the problem under warranty but also a higher capacity battery would help it last longer. It looks as if ones from about 30 Ah to about 60 Ah are used. So if yours is 30 Ah and using 0.08 amps an hour, then to completely use up 30 Ah would take 375 hours but far less than this to be unusable. Usually cars can be left for several weeks whilst on holiday and the batteries are still charged enough to start the car as normal. To get some idea of how current drainage may affect the battery voltage I have found charging up the C5 battery (70 Ah I think) with a 4 amp charger increases the voltage by 0.1 volts an hour. So 4 amps use approximately uses 0.1 volt. So in your case with about a 35 Ah battery, 2 amps use would be about 0.1 volt. So a drain of 0.08 amps an hour will lose 0.1 volts in 1 day and over 1 week a charged battery at 12.7 volts will drop to about 12 volts which would not be enough to start the car. So if these estimates are valid, it clearly shows your current drain is far too high.

If nobody comes forward with any help, often on software cds there is a file on the cd that explains how to install it. So have a look at the files on it using windows explorer.
-
Welcome to the forum. 60 to 80 mA seems high. Our C5 is about 15 mA and that goes flat over about 4 weeks if not used. Do you have anything such as a phone or sat nav plugged in or an aftermarket radio/alarm/camera ? You may need to remove fuses from different circuits to find out what is using the current.

Haynes shows there are 3 bulbs at the back of the unit that can be replaced after it has been removed (prise up the lower edge of the surround and pull it towards you. Then undo the display screws to remove it).
-
There is the turbo and all its piping at the back of the engine and I think the egr valve is also there.
-
I have noticed it on our 2007 and previous 2004 C5 but other than redirecting the air flow have not done anything about it.
