  1. Welcome to the forum. You have not given the engine type/size. The 2.0 hdi does not seem to have this bracket, the 1.6 hdi has a bracket part no. 6453NS (part name compressor bracket) £31.74 from these people (a Peugeot dealer) http://www.citroencarparts.net/6453NS-COMPRES-BRACK/ , the 1.8 and 2.0 petrol do not seem to have a bracket, the 1.6 petrol has a bracket but it looks a bit different, part no 6453EG for 90 bhp and 6453KG for 100 bhp or 6453SA. A Citroen dealer will sell you one but take your car VIN (seen at the bottom of the windscreen from the outside, as well as V5C doc) to get the right part.
  2. Welcome to the forum. There is also a Picasso forum which may also be worth you joining and there is a link to it on the home page. With your experience of Citroens you may be able to help out when others have problems.
  3. Low oil pressure and cutting out may be a fuse box fault needing a new one - this has been reported before and is noted in the C5 Technical section pinned Common problems post item 33.
  4. I assume this is for a C5. Does the reply to your previous post in the C5 section not provide the right information ? http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21539-gpsantenna-fora-2002-hid-22-excenant/?do=findComment&comment=78803
  5. Welcome to the forum. Agree this is a recent normal feature on many cars. On our 2011 C4 it can be turned off through the menu button on the radio if you do not like it. It works at low speed to turn on the front fog light at the side you are turning the steering wheel to and goes off again when the wheel is straight. It may also do it when the indicators are used at low speed. It does not need the lighting to be set to auto for it to work, just have the headlights on. At first I did not use it thinking it may confuse other drivers but now find it useful when turning into a dark bend or junction. The fog lights do not light up the road far ahead much though and maybe have been adjusted to light up the road just in front for a corner.
  6. On our cars you can set the rear wiper to work if reverse gear is selected if the front wipers are on, but I guess it is nothing to do with this.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I have altered the topic title slightly so it stands out more - you never know but somebody on here may want a side panel. Occasionally members do offer unwanted items for sale on here and that is ok, it is companies wishing to use the site for free advertising that is not allowed without agreement with the site admin/owner.
  8. Does the rear wiper also sometimes not park in the correct position or not stop when it should ? If it is just the wiper and not the wash playing up, if you check the wiring where it goes between the tailgate and body you may find some damage/broken wires. Or there may be a fault with the wiper motor. Our C3 rear wiper played up, would not always stop/park in the correct place/would move to the correct stop position when the doors were unlocked but when the tailgate was replaced with another used one which included the wiper motor and the wiring loom, the wiper then behaved normally - so it was either the motor at fault or possibly a wiring fault. Years ago the wiper motor internal stop switch used to wear down on British Leyland cars so the wipers would not stop but fortunately the switch was a spare part - however, I could not see a separate switch on the C3 one. One of our members Mike O. is soundproofing his C5 so this is something you may consider again. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/10660-c5-tourer-road-noise/page-2
  9. Using your VIN the cat comes out at Citroen part no. 1706E7 and under characteristics it has the exhaust with a longitudinal rear silencer. The cat section is £704 from this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=1706E7 You could possibly try for a used one at a breakers or for an aftermarket one - but make sure you quote the Citroen part no. to get the right one. I would also consider repairing your existing one if it still met emission tests at the MOT. I have deleted your VIN for security reasons although these can be seen by anyone walking past your car from the bottom of the windscreen.
  10. The aerial base for an estate is part no. 6561GP. For a hatchback it will be 6561H1 or 6561P1 - depending on the car VIN. The aerial that goes in to the base is part no. 6561A0 or 6561G1 if with telephone pre-equipment. You can check the parts diagrams yourself on the service.citroen site as a free service if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres Use your car VIN (VIS) The aerial is under Electric Unit / Comfort and Convenience / Audio Navigation / Radio aerial You should be able to buy the parts from a Citroen dealer or maybe such as ebay.
  11. Welcome to the forum. The best thing to do will be to look at the Citroen parts diagrams using your VIN (VIS). This is a free service on the service.citroen site. You need to register as another professional, member of the Citroen Owners Club.http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres A quick look using the 2.0 petrol, but possibly the wrong bhp, gives part no 1705 PE for a manual and 1705 PF for an automatic - but the picture does not show the triangular bracket. But if checking without a specific engine (since I do not know your VIN), the EW10A engine (with a transverse rear silencer) exhaust cat/front section (part no. 1731LR) does have a bracket on the cat section with 2 arms on it that hook in to a mounting. This engine with a longitudinal rear silencer has a different part no. If this part is not available in the after market then it may only be available at a dealer. It is possible an aftermarket one would just have the 2 arms without the triangular section. If this is the part no then from a dealer it may be around £450 based on a check on this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=1731LR
  12. For info, you have said the car is a 2003 C3 desire, but not given the engine size and whether diesel or petrol. I would add some fuel to the tank before going much further so you do not run out and if it is a diesel this will also prevent possible damage to the fuel pump. If your car has a trip computer (our 2003 sx 1.4 petrol did not have one), then pushing the button on the end of the wiper stalk will change the display between average mpg, current mpg at your current driving style, miles remaining to running out of fuel at the current mpg/driving style. Holding the button in will reset the trip computer. One bar of the fuel gauge is about 7 litres when the bar above has just gone out (obviously 0 litres just before it goes out) and there will also be a low level light that comes on when possibly there is about 1½ litres left. Depending on how you drive, if a 1.4 petrol, you should get about 45 mpg or 10 miles per litre.
  13. As well as ebay, your dealer may be able to get a copy. Some time ago a member found they were cheaper from the dealer than on ebay, however, it was taking time for the dealer to get one. Have you checked in the car, sometimes they are left under the driver's seat in the pull out drawer or maybe the dash top passenger side compartment ?
  14. A trolley jack will lift up the front so you can steer (and the handbrake, if on, may be on the front wheels if like a C5) or there are also wheel dollies that go under a wheel so the car can be moved - eg Machine Mart AWD1 £53.99 for a pair http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/awd1-automotive-wheel-dolly-pair A couple of years ago our C4 was in a crash and we got the RAC to recover it and that cost about £80 - so this is an option for the owner. This was outside of our RAC membership terms/conditions but the money was paid back by the insurance company. All we did was phone the RAC and they sent a truck fairly quickly - so not being able to sort something in 7 days is nonsense.
  15. This may also help when you check the cam and crank sensors: On our C3 the camshaft sensors have 3 pins in the electrical connector. With the sensor removed from the car and using a meter on the sensor pins, the faulty inlet camshaft sensor gave a resistance measurement between all of the 3 pins and the new sensor and exhaust camshaft sensor only did on 2 pins. In the RTA manual for the 2.0 hdi C5 to 2004 model (DW10ATED), it gives the camshaft sensor as a 3 pin one and the resistance between pins 2 and 3 should be 576 ohms. If measuring the voltage from the sensor it should go between 0 and 5 volts. For the crank sensor it gives as a 2 wire one with a resistance between the pins of 475 ohms (+/- 50 ohms).
  16. Molandme, we still do not know what engine the car has, is it a 1.6 or 2.0 hdi ? The advice to drive a bit slower on motorways will reduce fuel consumption, dropping from 70 to 65 mph I used to find could give about an extra 10% mpg although on a 250 mile trip I can imagine time may be more important than fuel saving - is half an hour more important than £3 for each trip.
  17. Welcome to the forum. This company may be worth contacting, on their home page it says they can provide restoration so should be able to give an idea of costs. DS23s on their site look to be about £23k so the restored car estimate range of up to £40k may be far too high. http://www.frenchclassics.co.uk/ Obviously you would have prefered to not have to deal with the car, but I hope you are able to claim back garage rental/storage costs from the car owner so if you do have to sell it, you can deduct this from the amount you need to return to the owner as well as any other costs incurred such as your solicitor. As for disposal, did you try just telling them it will be removed from the garage and left on the road for them to collect or dumped outside their house and then send them a bill ?
  18. Welcome to the forum. The handbooks for cars from about 2007 can be read, saved and pages printed on the service.citroen site. Whilst not exactly your car, most of the handbook there will apply but the speedo dash bit looks different - you will have bars to show coolant temperature and fuel tank levels. Anything you are not sure about you can ask on here. The easiest way to print I found is to do a mouse right click, then print preview to check it is what you want and then print. http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ select documentation de bord (if needed) and then language and then the car. The first one for the C3 starts 10/2007.
  19. I am not sure but if the crank sensor is working when the engine is turned over on the starter it may show the engine rpm on the rev counter. If the cam and crank sensors need replacing they are about £25 to £30 each - if you have to pay somebody to check them it is lower cost to just replace them yourself - unless it turns out they are not the problem in which case the money could have been used for a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer. When a cam sensor failed on our C3 petrol it lit up the engine management light and gave a fault code so I knew what the problem was. However, I have read that fault codes are not always given when these sensors fail. One thing when looking at low cost code readers, since your car is a 2003 diesel it may not work with all code readers since OBD compliance was not needed until 2004 for diesels.
  20. I noticed there were no replies to your similar previous post. I have seen on here comments that occasionally the sat nav has gone off and it was thought it may have lost its signal - but not every time in use. You could check if the fuses are fully in place and maybe the connectors on the back of the radio are secure but if your car has a warranty it may be worth questioning it at the dealer. Possibly a software update may be available if there are no equipment faults.
  21. When you check the suspension LDS fluid level, the car should be at the low suspension position and the ignition turned off and the key removed from the car. On early models the LDS fluid level can be seen through the tank and should be above the minimum mark but on later ones it is made from black plastic and needs the filler cap removing to check the level. There will be some pressure in the tank so open the cap slowly to let the air out and maybe have a cloth around it in case a bit of fluid comes out. The fluid level should be just covering the base of the filler neck which extends in to the tank and looks a bit like a strainer. If it is below this then only top up using LDS fluid, about £13 a litre depending on where it is bought. If it needs topping up there may have been some air in the steering (it uses the same LDS fluid supply as the suspension) which is bled out by taking the steering to full lock on opposite sides a few times.
  22. Here is a cat that you can legally remove from your car and still pass the MOT http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/cat_escapes_horror_car_journey_342889
  23. Welcome to the forum. It is worth checking the actuator pipe to the egr valve in case it has a hole or split. If this is ok and the egr valve is not passing when closed, you may be able to just disconnect this pipe and plug it, instead of going to the bother of a blanking plate. The other thing to try is to remove the egr valve and clean it and make sure it moves by applying suction to its actuator. I do not know where a plate could be bought, but if you had some metal then it may not be difficult to make one but it would need to be thicker than a tin can so it stands a vacuum.
  24. The 2006 2.0 hdi should be 138 bhp. If only buying one, then it should be the Haynes manual and then no need to worry about the odd translation. I have the RTA, Haynes and also the Citroen service box which goes on a pc, which is better than the others since it includes the parts diagrams and covers all the Citroens and the bits that Haynes say are too difficult. The RTA one for the mark 2 C5 is identified as from 09/2004 and covers the 1.6 and 2.0 hdi only, ref CIP 690.1. The RTA has better photos and diagrams than the Haynes.
  25. You do not need a garage (and the labour cost) to replace the meter, it will be held by a jubilee type clip and 2 torx headed screws (to the air filter box) plus an electrical connector to undo. To clean it once it is off the car, spray inside it with some carburettor cleaner. If it is faulty though it may not help and a new one may be needed, but having removed it once you will know how easy it was to replace. If you buy a new meter, note that some times low cost ones from such as ebay may not always work that well. The Citroen part no. is 1920LK but you should check this using your car VIN. From a Citroen dealer it will be about £130.
