    Upgrade Sx

I am not sure about these but here goes: - the sat nav unit would need to be programmed to your car since Citroen radios are linked to the original car, you would need the sat nav aerial/cables which are part of the radio aerial on the car. There may also be some other bits needed. - the dual climate control would need at least the air distribution part of the air con unit with the separate flaps and motors as well as the controller. Probably some other bits would be needed. I have dual air con and usually have both sides at the same settings so from my experience it is not necessary.
  2. There was a post on some copy Lexias messing up the reversing sensors so that they would need reprogramming but not with the same Lexia. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20714-c5-08-exclusive-front-parking-sensors-problem/
  3. Copied from a previous post - Citroen C5 1.8LX (2004). Possibly the fuel gauge may be worn and need replacing but worth checking the wiring connector is ok first. Access should be under the rear seat by removing a round plastic panel. On the petrol model the gauge also includes a fuel pump so a new one may be around £150. Haynes manual gives the level sensor resistance as 360 ohms for an empty tank and 51 ohms for a full tank so this is something you could check but it is not specific on which pins in the electrical connector to check.
  4. Does pushing the button on the end of the wiper stalk do anything - it should let you scroll through the different displays and if held in will reset to zero miles.
  5. Welcome to the forum. On the eurocarparts.com website they list dual mass and solid flywheels but the costs are not that much different when the clutch is included. Which country are you in ? I have corrected the reg date in your first post and deleted the second one.
  6. wjb, welcome to this forum. I could not find you on the member list for this forum as billy from moy but did find you on the Picasso owners member list. Check if you can sign in to that forum - there is a link to it on the home page.
  7. Welcome to the forum. Probably no harm in posting this, may be worth also copying it to the ZX section, making the title obvious the car is for spares or repair. Come back once the car has sold so we can delete the post.
  8. I do not know how far you have got with this but a high mileage 1.6 hdi may not be the best choice unless it has had frequent oil/filter changes using the right spec oil since this engine is prone to turbo failure. The cost of repairs then overcome any fuel economy savings compared to other size engines. Also if it has an exhaust particulate filter, this may be due for cleaning/replacing and the eolys fluid topping up in a couple of years if at 60k miles (check the maintenance manual for the frequency/mileage interval). Make sure the autobox works fully, if you need an auto.
  9. If you look on the eurocarparts website, a cat for example for a 2007 1.0 petrol C1 is £110 and not the £1000 you mentioned earlier. If it is not the cat, it could also be the lambda sensor after the cat which is the sensor that is saying the cat is not working. If you had a code reader that gave live data you could see the sensor output - it should be giving a steady reading if the cat was working, but if it was switching up and down as the one on the cat inlet, then it shows the cat is not working and if the cleaning agent does not work, then it needs replacing.
  10. Thankyou for continuing this post and I am pleased your car tows ok. When changing cars there are always doubts until you have tried it. If you do bother to use a weighbridge please could you put the weight on here.
  11. You have not given your engine size and bhp. Our 2008 C4 1.6 hdi 110 bhp 5 speed manual would give about 55 mpg on motorways doing up to 70 mph and round town dropped to about 48 mpg. This was replaced with a 2011 C4 with the same engine and 6 speed manual gearbox and this gives about 60 mpg on motorways but depending on wind direction can be +/- 10 %.
  12. You can have a look under your car but I think it is an electrical device that pulls the cable for you so not hydraulic.
  13. Have you tried a Citroen dealer ?
  14. On our Citroens the button in the end of the wiper stalk scrolls through the trip displays and if held in will reset it.
  15. There was an article in Car Mechanics on injector removal and apparently some soak them in Cillit Bang first before trying. Other than that it was all about getting an expert company in to do it and could cost hundreds for all the injectors to be removed.
  16. Our 2007 C5 has a Navidrive radio system and in its handbook there is a note that if it should malfunction the Dark button can be held in for more than 10 seconds to re-initialise it. One member has successfully used this but I can not remember what the problem was.
  17. I am not sure about this, but having the battery being constantly charged may prevent the bsi shutting down when the ignition is turned off and the doors locked.
  18. Hopefully this will have been sorted by now. I have found the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder needs opening a lot more than when doing a brake cylinder. Also sometimes pumping the pedal is not effective and that sucking the fluid through without touching the pedal works better. I use a Mityvac brake bleeder for this but maybe a large syringe could work.
  19. Maybe you could try for a second hand one but oil leaks seem to be a common problem, so a second hand one may not last long.
  20. This is from the Common problems pinned post in the C5 Technical section. 25. New C5 (mark 3/X7) steering rack oil leaks - 4 cases so far. We have 2 members jefflad and Howiec with steering rack leaks that are proving difficult to fix. Where the supply and return pipes join the rack, the seals are leaking fluid. It seems Citroen want to replace the pipes to fix this and that just replacing the O-ring seals does not work. Citroen also do not sell the seals separately. An additional 2 members, Parkesie and johnfing, have found a leak from the steering column shaft input seal on top of the steering rack, which initially was thought to be the pipe seals. This seal also is not available so replacement racks have been fitted. The column shaft has badly rusted so may be the cause of the leak - applying grease could possibly prevent this. See http://www.citroen-o...uid/#entry75684
  21. Welcome to the forum. Is your car the new shape C5 or the 2004 to 2008 model ? On the 2004 model and the previous one, the pads can give a clunk noise when first applied and there is a shim available that goes over the top of the pads that will stop this (see the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned post). If it is the new shape C5 (X7 model), possibly the pads need removing, cleaning and refitting with a bit of copper grease on the pad/caliper contact parts. However, since you have an exclusive and if it is the new shape, your handbrake will be electrically operated which may mean the use of diagnostic equipment to calibrate the handbrake on re-installation. The rear brakes look to be the same as on the C4 and I did a write up on cleaning these on the C4 Technical section. Torque settings are the same except the caliper support bracket/pad carrier bolts are 108 Nm according to the RTA manual for the C5. On the C5 with the hydractive suspension, if you need to go under the car always use axle stands since if a height sensor is knocked the suspension could quickly drop to a very low level. Before jacking the car up the suspension should be raised to max height to avoid possible suspension problems - this will be mentioned in the handbook somewhere.
  22. You should be able to go to any Citroen dealer. This is something we checked when we bought a Citroen used approved car. Still check with the dealer though since it may not apply to national chains - we once looked at a car at Evans Hallshaw and they did not provide the Citroen warranty, you had to buy one if you wanted more than 3 months.
  23. If you do need sensors, it may be better to get the proper ones from Citroen rather than copy ones. It may be possible to part remove/prise back the top timing belt cover to see if the belt looks ok - I used to do this on our last C3 since that was getting a bit old and similarly on our last C5 with the 2.2 hdi 136 bhp engine. When I replaced the swirl valve actuator (official name is diaphragm) on our C5 it was only about £20 from Citroen so no need to get a repair kit. The plastic socket on it can be removed and put on the old one to save the hassle of replacing all of it if only the plastic bit is broken.
  24. Welcome to the forum. Often there are questions on the audio systems but until now we did not have anyone with expert knowledge, so any help you can provide is appreciated. If you have a Citroen car and need help with that please ask.
  25. Does the fan always run when the engine is running (lift the bonnet to check and start the engine) ? To see live data, you need a code reader to plug in to the EOBD socket in the glovebox (behind the square panel at the left that just pulls off). We have this one from Gendan that gives live data http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GCR25.html If you do this, have the car key out of the ignition switch before plugging the reader in, then when it says it is not communicating put the key in the switch and turn the key so the dash lights come on or start the engine. The engine fan should start when the ECT engine coolant temperature reaches about 96°C and stop when about 2°C lower. The higher speed should start above the 96°C. To erase any fault codes with the reader the engine should not be running but the dash lights on. Switch off and remove the ignition key before unplugging the reader. Your car will be still under the Citroen 3 year warranty so if there is a fault it should be repaired at no cost to yourself - have you thought about going to your nearest Citroen dealer ?
