  1. Welcome to the forum. As well as normal fuses Citroen fit maxi fuses, often these are hidden in the engine fuse box under the top layer of fuses. It may be one of these has failed.
  2. If you do it yourself then the cost of parts, possibly up to £100. If you pay somebody then possibly £300 to £400 but if the head is warped it may need skimming so this would add to the cost.
  3. Maybe you could try warming it with a hair dryer to help the glue soften and then try peeling it off. The glue remains on the car can probably be wiped off with a tissue wet with white spirit (turps) or de-icer. If it does not peel off then wetting it at the edges with the tissue may help gradually to remove it.
  4. Welcome to the forum. May be you could check the plug at the back that there is a 12 volt supply to indicate if it is the radio or its supply that is at fault. There may also be a fuse inside the radio that could be checked.
  5. Welcome to the forum. What year C3 is it ? On the early and latest C3s the front fog lights fasten from the back of the bumper with bolts, so the blank in place of the lights is most likely to unclip from the back of the bumper. The easiest way to fit front fog lights may be to get some from a scrap yard (or such as ebay) complete with the supporting bracket (if the latest C3) and the electrical connector and a bit of the wiring. Then wire it up with a relay and your own switch back on the dash. If you prefer to have the lights working from the car lighting switch, then you need to see if the wiring loom is in place at the bumper, replace the lighting/wiping switch unit on the steering column with one that has the front fog light switch and possibly to have the car connected up to a diagnostic machine (Citroen type Lexia) to activate the lights - however, I am not sure about this. You may also need to check the warning light is in place on the dash/speedo unit - if you need to replace the speedo unit beware that fitting one from a higher mileage car may adopt the higher mileage to your car.
  6. Welcome to the forum. If you need any advice the members on here will try to help.
  7. A quick look on the internet shows oil cooler prices as from £38.99 on ebay and £113 from eurocarparts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C1-C2-C3-C4-XSARA-NEMO-BERLINGO-1-4-HDI-1-6-HDI-OIL-COOLER-1103K2-/370983806165?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 On top of that you will need a few litres of anti freeze. Citroen dealers sell the usually recommended Glysantin G33 for a competitive price.
  8. Welcome to the forum. It could be an internal leak in the oil cooler (on the oil filter housing) or the head gasket. To check either will involve some work. The high temp light may have come on since oil has a lower specific heat and is thicker than water so will not remove the heat from the engine/head as well. Once the problem is sorted all the oil will need flushing out of the cooling system.
  9. The prices I used were from these people but I did not know which exact part no to use but the second hand option is going to make the repair worth doing. http://www.citroencarparts.net/ - to get a price you enter the part no. in the top left search box. The part no. you get from the service.citroen site , register/join as another professional, member of the Citroen Owners Club and the parts diagrams are a free service http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  10. You need the sliding switch in the middle position, so worth checking this.
  11. Welcome to the forum. For the 1.6 diesel keep up with the oil and filter changes to help the turbo last.
  12. Have you had a look at/removed the existing fuse to see if it has anything on it ?
  13. The relay is £13.44 from this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=6545XF so probably the same from your local dealer and the fan £323. You are most likely to need to order the bits from your dealer and being a bank holiday if ordered Tuesday you would get them Wednesday if ordered as vehicle off road or Thursday - by not being in too much of a hurry, I have found my dealer can get the parts at a lower cost and can give a discount for regular customers so worth asking.
  14. This post on reversing sensor wiring up may help http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15217-after-market-reversing-sensors-help-please/
  15. I could not find the you tube clip but I have copied this from the Common Problems post since this may be relevant. New seals are available for the strut cylinder but the cost for a dealer to do would not be much different to a new strut. 7. Rear suspension strut gaiter leaks oil. It may just need a new gaiter - £7, fastening clip £10, LDS fluid £16, or a new strut. Gaiter replacement is a DIY job but a dealer would need to fit a new strut to guarantee the repair, probably about £230. The rear may also sink a little bit overnight indicating a new strut is needed.
  16. When I have checked our C3 the fan would start with the engine temp at 96°C and stop when dropped back to 94°C, did you check with the Lexia what the temp got to ? Also, there may be some more fuses you could check - at the side of the battery may be a red fusebox BFDB which according to the French RTA manual for the C5 has special bolted fuses in and the middle one F3, 60 amp is for 'groupe motoventilateur 2' - so you need to have a look at this as well as the maxi fuse MF1 50 amp listed as 'groupe motoventilateur' on the bsm/PSF1 engine fusebox. It also has the engine fuse box fuse F21 has something to do with it.
  17. Which plug are you looking for ?
  18. If you do not already have a multi meter I would get one of these instead since a reasonable one can be bought for £5 to £10 that will do most things such as this CDM10 for £8.39 from Machine Mart http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cdm10-economy-digital-multimeter You only need to check the battery once to see if you have a problem after a few days and then you are likely to be able to forget about it.
  19. Without the abs working the car will not pass the MOT test and may make the insurance invalid, but the brakes should work as though the car did not have abs installed. If your car has esp, then this also would not work if the abs is faulty. From what I read, the abs ecu can be replaced on the pump with the pump still in place on the car - but the new ecu will need to be coded to the car. The pump part if replaced without changing the ecu for a different one, would not need the ecu to be coded to the car but would still need the pump and brakes to be bled of air and this needs the valves in the pump to be opened and probably the pump to run - which require the diagnostic equipment. If you can get a pump that is full of brake fluid without any air in, and air does not get in to the brake pipes while disconnected, then there may be a possibility the brakes can be bled without needing the diagnostic equipment. If at all unsure though, I would get the work done at a dealer or garage with the correct equipment - or possibly fit the parts yourself and get the dealer to bleed the brakes. If you used a garage without the equipment and then had to use a dealer to bleed the brakes/code a new ecu, then I suspect this would cost more than going to only the dealer. In your place, I would ask the dealer to quote for fitting a used pump with its used ecu (unless I thought the ecu was ok) supplied by myself. On ebay used pumps are about £40. A new pump from Citroen, depending on your vin, is about £600 already configured, plus 1 or 2 hours to fit. A new ecu configured is about £400 but is included with a new pump but the pump is not listed without the ecu.
  20. Welcome to the forum. The fuel tank is 68 litres on the diesel, so about £90 to fill at supermarket prices but round town should give about 38 mpg and on a run over 50 mpg for the manual and about 30 round town and about 45 mpg on a run for the auto. To open the filler flap, just push on it and it will spring open. Push again to close. On the end of the wiper stalk is a button - press it to change the trip computer to give current mpg, average mpg since it was last reset and distance covered, distance at current mpg to tank empty. Press and hold to reset the readings to zero. To help with info on the dash buttons - which model is the car, is it 90 or 110 bhp, is it manual or auto gearbox, does it have dual zone air con ? At the right of the radio is a door lock button - if you hold this down with the engine running it will initiate auto locking of the doors when above 6 mph. Repeat to stop the auto locking. Buttons below the radio are for the air conditioning and heated rear window/mirrors. At the left of the radio is a button to turn off the alarm internal sensors, if your car has an alarm. In the driver's door are switches to open the windows and one to adjust the door mirrors - select the left or right mirror with the sliding switch and use the arrow switch to adjust the mirror. Between the seats is a switch to raise and lower the suspension - if you want to jack up the car to remove a wheel, first raise the car to max height with this button to prevent any suspension problems. If you intend to go under the car always use axle stands since if a suspension height adjuster is knocked the suspension could quickly drop to a low level of a few inches above the ground. When locking the doors with the remote, if you press the lock button twice it will deadlock the doors so they can not be opened from the inside, although I am not sure if this was on the early C5s. At the right side of the boot may be a switch to raise/lower the back to help loading the car (estate models only) and the car will go to normal height once a door is closed. Under the bonnet at the driver's side, under a plastic cover (to remove, each fastener button should be pulled up and then the fastener will pull out plus possibly one screw needing a torx bit) is the coolant expansion tank and the suspension fluid tank which also does the steering pump - do not put anything but LDS fluid in this. To check the suspension fluid tank level the car must be lowered to its min height (button in car between seats) and the tank cap undone (there will be a release of pressure). The fluid level should just be in the bottom of the filler neck.
  21. If you can not find any wiring going to the seats then I suspect you will have to go straight for the diagnostic check.
  22. The diagnostic socket can be found in the central console, under the air con control panel. To access it the cover above the 12v and USB sockets is removed by inserting a screwdriver in the 2 slots at its front top edge and pushing down to release the cover from its 2 clips.
  23. Welcome to the forum. It could be a loose connector under a front seat. Before trying them make sure the key is out of the ignition switch for at least 15 minutes and then possibly also consider disconnecting the battery, to avoid any possible risk of an air bag going off. To decide on anything other than the seat connector would need a diagnostic check using a dealer type Lexia.
  24. Easiest way, you could put some fuel in the tank, probably about 15 litres will be needed to light up the next gauge block. Otherwise you may need to remove the tank sender and move the float up and down whilst measuring the resistance across its terminals. Also check for any damage on the tank which may be stopping the float going to its low level. You could also unplug its connector to see what the gauge shows - probably would go to full or low level but might bring up a fault code.
  25. I would not do this. It is better to disconnect the battery before charging. If the charger voltage went high it could ruin the electrics. It was discussed in here before and one other problem mentioned was the car would be sensing the voltage and the bsi would not shut down. Our C5 does not get used a lot, sometimes only once a month but the doors are not opened every day. Due to the alarm and possibly other things, after about 3 to 4 weeks the battery is low enough to possibly not start the car and I have found removing the towbar fuses reduces the current drain giving another week. I would check the battery voltage to see how much it falls over the few days to see if there really is a problem or not. Also, have you thought about removing the things out of the car that cause you to keep opening the doors ?
