  1. Maybe maybe not - our 2011 C4 is still on its original tyres, Michelin energy and the fronts are on 3 mm tread and it has now done 37800 miles. If you do not have a record of the tyre change then possibly the Citroen dealer may have it recorded on their system if they replaced them.
  2. The easiest way to add a link is to copy and paste the web address of the page in to your post.
  3. It is unlikely to be difficult to replace a front wiper motor, the scuttle below the windscreen will need removing and then the motor will be accessible. If you are going to do the work yourself, let us know and more detailed instructions can be provided. What are the symptoms of the wiper fault and did you use a Citroen dealer to diagnose the fix - just in case it is not the motor that is at fault ? If you give info on your engine and model then we can check the parts no and check the internet for prices. The part no. will also help you when checking on such as ebay.
  4. I hope that is the problem, if so it will not be an expensive fix, maybe its contacts are dirty. The garage solution to a problem seems a bit of a bodge, I wonder what else they worked on on the car.
  5. Welcome to the forum. I hope the repairs cost a lot less than the value of the car. In our handbook it was so many miles or 10 years, whichever came first. It all seems a bit of a gamble how long it and its pulleys/tensioner will last - some seem to go on forever and others do not.
  6. It is also about the mileage for the exhaust dpf and eolys fluid needing servicing - fluid topping up and dpf replacing/cleaning - so check this in the service records. Otherwise allow a few £100. Also have a look in the C5 Technical section at the list of Common Problems pinned post for some things to check.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I do not know if this post has any relevance but you could try using the side lights to see if it has any effect. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20473-headlights-problems/
  8. A check on a dealer in Belfast has a similar offer but a pre MOT check for £40 including any updates http://www.charleshurstbelfast.citroen.co.uk/offers/owners/all/pre-mot-check-offer-40/?newsId=1137967
  9. Welcome to the forum. I would check with your dealer, but I think you do not pay for a software update. When a service is done or even at a MOT, the dealer checks for updates. http://www.bentleysmotorswarrington.citroen.co.uk/offers/owners/all/citroen-mot-offer-just-45/?newsId=1166283 This is from my dealer's Owners Offers page and MOT.
  10. Welcome to the forum. So that somebody may be able to help, a bit more info is needed. Are there any messages as well as the beep ? Are any warning lights lit up on the dash ? Does the engine turn over when trying to start ? Is there fuel in the tank and can you hear a pump in the tank running when trying to start ? How many miles, is the servincing up to date, any recent work done on the van, any recent problems with it ? Have you tried using the AA/RAC ?
  11. Welcome to the forum. I am not sure about this but the door closed signal may be taken from the door latch/switch. You can test this by opening the door and then closing the latch around a screwdriver, then see if the door open message goes and if the wiper then works. If so, then maybe a slight adjustment of the latch/part it hooks around may be needed. Also check if the wiring is damaged between the body and hatch door in the rubber sleeve.
  12. Rather than using an independant garage for your servicing/oil change you would be better using a Citroen one. When you mention the noise they may also provide additional advice and will be more familiar with your engine. My Citroen dealer does an oil/filter change service for £80 to £90 which includes extra checks than just the oil change. If you check your car maintenance book it will list the oil for your car. The Shell oil may well be suitable (you need to check its spec) but in the book with our 2007 C5 for diesels it lists Total oils quartz 7000 10W-40 or 9000 5W-40 both ACEA A3 / B3 but if your car has an exhaust particulate filter (dpf) then it should be a low saps oil Total INEO ECS 5W-30 to ACEA C2. The 7000 may be a semi synthetic and the other 2 full synthetic. Make sure the oil is drained rather than sucked out.
  13. Welcome to the forum. If you removed the key fob battery it may need initialising to the car and it will say how to do this in the handbook after battery replacement. If you did not, then maybe the case buttons are not lining up properly (just a guess) so you could try your old case again.
  14. If it has folding mirrors, they would fold when the car was locked or when the driver's door switch was used - the mirror selection sliding one needs to be in the central position and then pulled back and the mirrors would fold. By electric mirrors it may just mean they are heated ones when the rear window heater is used since electric adjustment seems to be normal on most Citroens, but not the heating. The rear sensors may have been ordered as an option by the original owner. You can see what the car had when made on the service.citroen site http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres under vehicle characteristics. You need to select language and then register as another professional and member of the Citroen Owners Club. Then on the free services under the parts diagrams, enter your VIN and in the left column select Characteristics. Here you will also be able to see the light part no. and get an idea of the price for a new one if yours is damaged from this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/ . If the light is not damaged then maybe it was not put back properly after replacing a bulb - see your handbook how to do this and it would not need a garage and their labour charge. I am not sure about the headlights, maybe you could look at another one in a car park and also see if yours are letting in water (condensation would be seen on the glass/plastic front lens). It would also be worth you joining the Picasso Owners Club, there is a link to it on this forum's home page.
  15. Welcome to the forum. Have a look at this post and the link to another one in case it helps. The original poster with the petrol engine has not been back so we do not know what happened and if it was sorted. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20973-c4-vtr-16-petrol-sounds-like-engine-tapping/
  16. Another company worth a look for parts prices is eurocarcare in Derby and has been used by a member (UVG) for a C5 suspension pipe. The home page says the parts are all approved so not necessarily Citroen ones. The prices are all plus vat and delivery unless you are able to collect. http://www.eurocarcare.net/ The cost of delivery and time taken needs to be considered. I have not used them and on the shipping page for Royal Mail delivery there is a note copied as follows: All Royal Mail items destined for UK addresses will be posted at the most economical rate possible. Please be aware that Royal Mail consider a 10 day delivery period acceptable for a a 1st class parcel, and that items are not 'missing ' until 28 working days. If A guaranteed 'next working day' service is required, please consider Fedex or TNT. In the unlikely event of your package becoming lost or damaged, please contact us and we will forward you proof of postage to enable you to claim compensation from the Post Office. For further details please see the post Office web site.
  17. Just had a look on the eurocarcare site - some of the prices seem quite low but once the postage is included if you do not live local to Derby, it can then become nearer dealer prices - eg LDS fluid is £6.10 plus £3.35 delivery plus 20% vat giving £11.58 and then you have to wait for the postman. Still worth a look though and I will add them to an existing post on parts prices.
  18. A 5 year old car, probably you are looking at 40 to 50k miles. You need to make sure the car has a good oil change service history. The 1.6 hdi turbo is prone to early failure and frequent oil/filter changes will help to prolong its life. Also round about 80k miles the exhaust dpf particulate filter may be due for replacement/cleaning and the eolys fluid topping up - these things cost £100s so bear in mind when looking at running costs and the mileage of the car you are looking. If the owner says these have been removed, then for the MOT they need putting back, since Feb this year a check is made for their presence. On the home page is a link to the Picasso owners club and it will be worth looking at/joining this forum for advice specific to the Picasso.
  19. Our latest caravan has a 13 pin plug so I have converted to 13 pin sockets and now prefer them since only one cable and the plug seems to engage better in the car socket - push in and then twist the outer to lock it. Also so far the connectors do not seem to corrode or need nipping together/apart like the old brass pins. I did use an adaptor lead for some time but the cables were too long and had to be wrapped around things to keep off the floor. The car wiring is set up for separate 12N and S with the car 13 pin socket being pre-wired supplied with 2 seven core cables passing through a 2 entry sealing grommet from Towbars Direct who are located in Warrington. On our last C5 I changed the 2 separate sockets for the 13 pin one by simply feeding the 2 cables through its sealing grommet and made the connections.
  20. Just had a look at the parts diagrams and there is a choice of 2 pipes - one is 16 mm diameter 5270QQ if you have a sphere in the middle of the axle (hydractive 3) and costs about £33, the other is 3.5 mm diameter 5270QA if you just have a connector block in the middle of the axle and is about £14.
  21. If you give details of which hydraulic pipe it is there is a good chance coastline taxis will have the info you need.
  22. If you end up having to pay £80 plus £10 delivery for a light you have not seen, it could be a bit of a gamble since it could have some damage (possibly on the rear locating lugs) or marks on it. If aftermarket ones do become available they do not necessarily fit that well - at least my experience of some tail lights for a C3 from eurocarparts which did not fit. New ones from Citroen were right and not any dearer plus they included the bulb holders. If you ask your dealer they sometimes will give a discount for parts if you are not in a hurry since they can get them at a lower price if you allow a couple of days or so. For the right side wing rear light there are 2 different Citroen part nos. 6350FA and 6351LV - you need to check which one you need by using your VIN. From these people the cost of the 1st is £105 and the 2nd £125 http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=6350FA
  23. Are driving standards different in France where presumably the system was designed - here I always use the handbrake when stopped whether on the flat or any slope (although many others seem to keep a foot on the brake pedal looking at the stop lights). Insurers may not be too happy with a claim where the handbrake was not used.
  24. It is a common problem on the estate, the struts that hold it up need replacing with new ones (part no. 8731F4, £55 from here http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=8731F4 There may be a post on here from somebody who has replaced them, otherwise follow the procedure in the Haynes manual (if you do not yet have one I would recommend it). Also common is the separate glass in the tailgate not opening separate to the door - its switch is at the bottom of the wiper spindle.
  25. You will be wanting to get out with the caravan now. Was the 12 N socket wired with a dedicated kit and how did you run a 12 volt supply for the 12S smart relay ? I have wired a few towbars on our cars and find the wiring takes a lot longer than fitting the bar although I have not tried a dedicated 12N kit. The 2 sensor reversing sensors is a good idea, I find the 2 nearest the towball on our car are hit and miss whether they see the towball - the slightest adjustment of its cover seems to make the difference. I also prefer the fixed flange type so I can have is a bumper protector behind it and a metal tag with a hole for the breakaway cable to pass through.
