Handbrake/front Brakes Problem
coastline taxis replied to chrisrhondda's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Its either a siezed caliper or cable. Disconect the cable from the caliper get someone to pull the handbrake off and on and see if the cable moves back and forth ( if it dosnt its siezed) . if it does then your caliper is siezed to confirm this pull the lever on the caliper and see if it returns back after pulling it forward. Sometimes youl need to pry the lever back -
forgot to mention that some will say that you just need to take the inner wheel arch of to get acsess but we always take both of. These undertray bolts are little pigs and prone to siezing or snapping the plastic and 9 out of 10 leave us with zip fastners holding them in place. A lot of people will tell you to leave them of but they stop all the road ***oops*** going up into the engine
-
yes the underguard and the inner wheelarch has to come of to allow acsess to the crankshaft pully and timming belt cover
-
Hi get the wheel up in the air and try spinning it or just take the wheel of and check everything if its metal on metal it will be shiney. If nothing then wire brush everything remove caliper and pads and clean with brake cleaner also check the disc for damage or corrosion also inside the wheel. if its a squeek then check the wishbone bushes or droplinks/antiroll bar and regardless of there state give them a good squirt of wd40

we use snap on ethos and solus and belive it or not a elm unit of ebay 20 quid and it shows all the codes up only thing was that it was a proper pain to get it to hook up to the laptop (ended up putting it into pc shop) but other than that its fine

Well had to admit defeat its now at town center cit getting sorted. looking forward to seeing what the prob is -
Actually if memory serves theres a switch in the filler flap (not to be confused with filler cap) and every time it is opened and shut it registers in the ecu and after so many it puts the light on. So techbod would i be right in asuming that plastic spoons would be better as theyd burn of during the next regeneration

The code reader might not be able to read the gearbox ecu. And all gearbox control is done throught the ecu no master switch -
Excellent

Buying A C5 2.0 Diesel
coastline taxis replied to Mike7777777's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Been running c5 for years now and there good work horses althought i cant realy comment on motorway miles but the drivers who rent them have never complained about the fuel. The problems that these cars arnt that bad and i personaly think that a lot of the problems are due to the cars not getting used enough so you should be ok on that front. I would stay away from the 2.2 but thats just my choice. But no matter what you get your going to eventualy pay for a fap filter -
Go to the dealers for the bolt its only a couple of quid. If there is some of the bolt sticing out of the rear arm then put a nut on it and spot weld it to the bolt, Now tighten the bolt 1/4 a turn and slacken 1/4 turn and just keep working the bolt back and forth till you work it out also keep it well lubricated with wd. If theres none of the bolt sticking out of the arm then youl have to drill whats left of the bolt out starting with a small drill bit and working up in size till the snapped bolt comes out. Or get another rear arm

Will check them tomorow many thanks. Sometimes you forget the obvious -
Been on with this one all day. No management light or sevice light and no codes present. The car can only be described as if its got the hic up when driving ticks over lovley and revs up lovley just wont drive without hic up ing. drained fuel and cleaned the fuel lines changed filter checked airflow and vacum pipes also checked wiring and intercooler for leaks and theres nothing wrong and all looks ok. Any ideas would be welcomed if not guess it will have to go to town center citreon

Phoned bristol street motors (sunderland) parts dept and ordered a clutch switch for a vivaro 4 days and 2 hours later got a phone call to say "ya bits here". What a difference and we dont spend vast amounts on parts a tcc so i dont think we get anything special

Sorry but a diagnostic isnt part of your service and will be charged for. The longer you leave it the worse you could be making and end up having to replace the whole box
