Award For The Highest Mileage C4 Goes To....
Z3M Roadster replied to Z3M Roadster's topic in C4 - Technical
When I refill the tank the trip shows over 700 miles and I regularly actually return over 600 to a tank. Bearing in mind this is a company car so it gets driven pretty hard too! Yes the cruise is set to a girly 31mph, I use it on a residential road which has loads of speed cameras. Strangely I rolled over the 50k while on the M11 approaching the North Circular this morning and was approaching a big tail back hence the low speed(you can see a brake light of a car infront just above the speedo if you look carefully), and the fact that I didnt think I ought to post a photo showing the speed I had been travelling at. Pretty good at multi-tasking and managed to take the photo on my phone whilst not crashing :o In response to what is worn; had new front tyres at 35k and a rear when a stanley blade went through it. Had new discs and pads and calipers about 30k and they probably need replacing again as I am getting a nasty squeal which changes to a groan. Otherwise I have had a new headlight and grille as I hit a pheasant and 7, yes 7, windscreens as they kept mysteriously cracking. The present screen has lasted 4 months though which is a record. -

Thanks guys, so many pranks and so little time. Flirt divert was good when BAMBAM and Streetboy from Londons Kiss100 started it, however since Scott Mills ripped it off it hasn't been the same. I'll try a combo of a few pranks, starting with water on the drivers seat, removing the plates and then clingfilming the entire car. Should be good for a laugh.

Because that's what they wanted me to do. They were preparing themselves with cameras to get me at half 5 when I returned to the car.

Sums up Citroen very well.

It's only 150bhp as standard. Albeit mine has been remapped and has race decat exhaust. 220 refers to the 2.2NA engine in it.
-
Wish I could get 30bhp from my VX220 for £500. Sounds very cheap to me.

Came back to my car to find 2 jokers had parked so close to my car that I couldn't get in! (on purpose of course) Needless to say I took the keys for the vectra from the owners drawer and moved it to another carpark. Stupidly I then left the keys to mine on my desk, came back to find that not only had my C4 been moved but the headrests removed, aerial removed, radio stations reprogrammed and everythng from the boot emptied inside the car. Any suggestions how I can get him/them back without damaging their cars? http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Random/IMG_0991.jpg

Sorry, disappeared to get some food. The VX makes up for me having a basic spec C4

Car looks good too. Reminds me I need to clean my wing mirrors as I couldn't see much behind me on the M25 today. I'll leave the rest of the car cleaning to the friendly Eastern Europeans near the office.

Are the samurai swords to ward off any unwanted car thieves?

It is standard font just a 9"x3" so hopefully less likely to be pulled. I have a full size spare if required and they are velcro'd on for a rapid change.

Ripped the number plate clean off the VX last week when pulling out of a petrol station. Have just fitted a mini plate which seems to have gained a few valuable mm of ground clearance. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/VX220/IMG_1426.jpg

I parked up in Stevenage yesterday on business. It was only when I got out the car that I really how close I was to ripping the bumper off. I have noticed before that the over hang is greater than I have had before on my company cars as I have scraped it on several occasions in multistorey car parks. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Random/IMGP0102a.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Random/IMGP0101.jpg

Brakes aren't bad, infact they are pretty good, its just there is no feel or progression in the pedal. It's all or nothing.

I'll post again as it appears Rich_Eason and I were using our Paint skills at the same time. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Signature%20Photos/c4mapcopyyv1.jpg

My laptop has nothing more advanced than MS Paint, so this is my best effort. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/alexlomas/Signature%20Photos/c4mapcopyyv1.jpg

I don't like engine braking, prefer to use the brakes as ultimately that's what they are there for. I also drove the car relatively hard and still the tyres lasted and obtained a steady 54mpg. Yes the rattle comes from the centre console
-
First set of fronts lasted 35k which I was extremely impressed with. I am still on one of the original rears, the other somehow got a stanley blade through it. Am on my second set of discs and pads and they squeak like buggery. I still can't get used to the over servod brakes which are a major flaw. I am also getting some rattles from behind the dash and the boot trim but live with these.

When it rains my passenger window will go down but not up. On about the fifth attempt and by the time the interior is satisfactorily saturated it works again. Yes the seatbelt hooks around the seat raising lever on mine too.

I ordered the car at the tail end of 2004 without seeing it as there were none available so my decision was based on the positive reports in the automotive press. To this day I still think the car is better looking than its counterparts and came with a load more toys as standard than anything else in the price bracket. Unfortunately in my experience it certainly hasn't been reliable and the electronics have really let the car down (car has been to 5 different dealers 17 times now and some of the original faults are still recurring) Also when I collected the car it had stains on the front seats, so I took it back and they valeted the interior, this is when they found out that it was infact water which stained the seats! They then chemical cleaned the interior and scotchguarded it which improved it but not ideal. I have since seen that the sx interior has been changed on later models, probably due to this fact but Citroen never issued a recall. Also I have had quite a few bits of trim replaced which have simply dropped off The main problem is the dealers and their service departments which appear to be run by monkeys. None give a toss and few listen you my suggestions of what could be wrong so inevitably when I go to collect the car it will be in the same condition as when I dropped it off and the mechanic will say they can find nothing wrong or they can find something wrong but don't know how to fix it. My worst experience is with a dealer in Islington who gave the car back to me with my handsfree kit broken off and oil over the drivers seat and headlining. Initially they denied all responsibility and accused that I did it! Needless to say I didn't and they finally agreed to replace both front seats and clean it. It sounds as if mine has been an isolated incident but have seen a number of the faults which mine has, mentioned by other forum users. All in all I still like the look of the car but Citroen need to seriously think about built quality and reliabilty and thank god its a company car. As for the next 50k, will it actually make 100k? Probably yes but not without more things falling off and a couple more breakdowns. The 1.6Hdi still pulls as well as it did when new, just makes a lot more noise now and the whistling turbo is getting louder. Luckily and due to cautious parking the car is still in very good condition with only stones to blame for any blemishes. The interior has also worn well with no creases or wear to the bolsters or material on the door.

When pressing the headlight button on the keyfob the nearside sidelight no longer illuminates, however open and then close the drivers door and it mysteriously turns on. How does that work? Only a few miles until I hit the big 50k and not long until the next service.

Mine was professionally applied although I believe you can buy the film and apply it yourself if you are feeling brave and reckon you won't get any air bubbles. I have it on the front clam and rear arches, all of which are prone to stone chips
