  1. Haynes do a general manual listing diagnostic codes. Halfords sell it. Haynes Manual on Fault Codes Also, see this link that has been posted before found by search function: Peugeot and Citroen fault codes - BBA Reman Also some advice from Citroen techs in this thread: PSA fault codes? Useful? Hope this helps...........................
  2. This was the advice I was given, and I took it as I was shown one of the three cars whose owners had not. I'm glad I did.
  3. Thanks very much for the information, guys! I will remember the reference to your Citroen dealer, as the tyres you got for the brand and size are very cheap. I've look at Valuetyres, but they are quoting £100 a tyre fitted for the Goodyears, as the size and rating for my car is a fair bit higher. They quote £77.08 fitted for the KH35, so I can't complain. I've checked with Michelin and the Energy is not available for the 215/55 R 16 C5 - only the Pilot or Primacy which are much more expensive.
  4. I have used Peter Simpson at Mid Kent Citroen (now Mid Kent Vehicle Centre) since 1993 and cannot recommend him highly enough. Thanks to him I got a big check list for buying a C5. His workshop have looked after my last 2 BXes and my C5 as well as a 405 and a 406. When people are moaning about repairers on this forum I thank my lucky stars that I can go to him. I've also used Medway Citroen for cheaper repairs that involve things like recharged spheres, AFAIK this is no longer an option for approved Citroen repairers. Pete used to do it a long time ago but doesn't any more. Mid Kent Vehicle Centre 01622 794499
  5. So spill the beans, then? Where were you getting the Energys for this price? Don't forget I have a 2.2 with 215/55 R16 tyres.
  6. C5s will not lock if any door or tailgate/tailgate glass is open. It will be worth checking very carefully around the tailgate to make sure that the striker plate for the lock is correctly set so the tailgate shuts properly and the glass is also properly shut. Double check the tailgate glass window. It looks shut when it's not.
  7. Both tyres above can now be had for free if you wish to collect. They'll be sent to the tip in mid Sept. I could not get a sensibly priced P6000 or P7 to partner the part used ones I have, so now have 4 new Marshal Matrac XMs on the car.
  8. They are also sold in the UK as Marshal, as far as I know. I've got the KH35 fitted. Best I can get round here is about £80 a tyre, fitted and balanced. Will report back on how they go compared to the Dunlop SP 2000. Marshal Tyres
  9. I would get a cotton bud and some neat alcohol and carefully clean around the button. Then do the same again with some silicon lubricant.
  10. Whoops, sorry, guv. I'm not sure now that I would risk either 10 years or 100,000 miles. The pile of bits on that C8 2.2 that had suffered a broken belt was mind boggling. Thankfully, it was not mine, or it would have been wallet emptying too.
  11. Borderline. After 2004 they have to be EOBD compliant. I tried one from eBay for a 2002 2.2 HDi and it was just too early.
  12. I might be wrong but I thought services were every 12,500 miles or every year, whichever comes first. So, 8 years or 100,000 miles. I would be kind of wary knowing how many 2.2s have broken belts. 59,000 is a bit early, but I would consider it at 75,000 or 87,500. I had mine done at the 87,5k.
  13. Have you tried BBA-Reman?
  14. Do not ever sell the wiggly snake. The Alfa Romeo is something else. I had a 164 3.0 manual for 3 weeks, selling it for a friend, it was real driving pleasure. Maybe you can get some replacement new C5 as a compromise, but you will regret selling the Alfa.
  15. Avoid early 2.2 HDi (50,000 mile DPF and fluid change). Avoid any 2.2 HDi without a correct service history for the cam belt, particulate filter and catalyst fluid. IMO the best C5 for costs/comfort compromise is the 6 speed 2.0 HDi but they may not be in your price range. The Xantia has no roof rails so for me is useless, but it is much less complicated and the 2.0 110 HDi may be very good for you. Personally I'm quite keen on the 2.1 but it is indirect injection, however it is 110 bhp and I have the Peugeot version of the same. The fuel economy is not quite as good as the HDi but they can be got for not a lot. If you want some thing about the £2k mark and don't need roof rails I'd go for a very end of line 2.0 110 HDi Xantia.
  16. If you leave the car unlocked for a long time this will flatten the battery. I would check that the height sensors/correctors are not covered in crud or close to seizing. If they are then a squirt with WD40 might not go amiss. Please do a search for the problem and solution with pictures of the height correctors.
  17. To play Devil's Advocate, the 2.2 diesels are notorious for owners who do not respect the Eolys/DPF service intervals and cut corners. The whole of my 75,000 mile service including 2 new tyres and the complete Eolys/DPF saga was about £1,100. Hopefully some of the locals in that area will reply soon. Maybe do a search on the whole of this forum for good independents or franchised dealers. If you find either of the above it is worth using them as they will not be cheap but will save money and trouble in the long run. It may be worth your while starting a thread in the "General Discussion and Nonsense" forum entitled Good Citroën franchise/independent repairer in the Blackburn/Burnley/Preston area. I'm sure you will a lot of replies. Personally I would query that a 36,000 mile 2.2 required an Eolys top up or a replacement DPF as usually it is 50,000 or 75,000 miles before that is due on that age of car. The replacement of the little rod thing or Swirl Chamber Control Valve is not usually expensive as it should be about £90 plus 2 hours labour? to fix. The phrase "clocked" comes up in my head, I know this is very difficult on a newer PSA car as the mileage is hard to frig, but tools for same are on sale on eBay...... My own personal approach to owning Citroën was first to find the reliable indy, then to buy a car. My 2 local indies give me advice and keep me away from silliness. iannez, kfk or BarbsC1, comments please?
  18. If you have cruise control then you can use this to see if the throttle position sensor has a dead spot. At the same speed and engine load but on cruise does the fault disappear?
  19. Yes, that's the Canute! I would squirt it with some WD40, but I would also check with a Citroen Tech first! I squirted mine though.
  20. Do you (or anyone else) know of a £30 pod that will work with an 02 C5 HDi with the Bosch EDC15? Topics include: C5 Hdi Estate 2001 Obd/eobd Protocol, ACCESSING CAR DATA BOSCH EDC15C2 On Board Diagnostics (obd) 51 Estate 110, Bosch EDC15C2 ECU
  21. You'll only ever get the best from this forum if you use the search function. Otherwise, you will end up asking questions that have already been answered. Search results here: Brake caliper rubbing inside wheel Brakes, brake squeal C5 rear brakes Search example for those answers
  22. Easy way to clear rust is to make the rear brakes work hard. The best way I every found was to put 3 or 4 incredible heavy concrete blocks in the boot and then the the load sensing valve would apply a lot of rear brake. Take the car for a 5 to 10 km drive. Works a treat. However, check after about 2 km that this is working and that you do not have the calliper problem. Best drive to go for is mixed town and slow country where you have to brake a lot.
  23. Yo BD, thought it would be best to ask in public so you would only have to answer once. What are the tyres, make, size, plus are they on alloy or steel rims? Do they have reporting valves? Do you want the whole car collected, or will you let bits go? Does it have the early Navidrive Sat Nav, separate CD drive under steering wheel? Estate/saloon?
  24. There are lots of things that can drain the battery. Favourite in my book (for not triggering eco mode) is the back up battery in the alarm having become old, not recharging properly and sinking current all the time. Look here: Eco mode/battery drain/wiring issues Please note that you will have to manually select the first page of the thread to see the full benefit of it.
  25. I have a part worn Pirelli P6000 and a Tornado Alpha, both in 215/55 R 16, W rated. They came off a C5 when I fitted matching tyres. The P6000 is £30, and the Tornado £20. Buyer collects or I can drop off in North Kent/East Sussex. Send a text or call 07973 713120. Will e-mail pictures of tread left, please PM me if you want some shots.
