it comes down to what % chance the car has of being crashed or stolen. ppl don't buy cosworths to drive slow so theres more chance of being involved in an accident and they also stick out like a sore thumb in a car park so more chance of them being stolen. the insurer looks at both of these and works out the % of a poss claim. if car insurance was baised on the overall price of the car to replace you would get 17/18 yr olds driving around in cosworths etc and there would be alot more deaths on the roads. if you took 5 cosworths and 5 fiestas of the same age and milage and then looked at there history of accidents and thefts you would see why they have insurance groups. and don't forget the insurance company has to fork out for any other cars involved and any personal injuries incurd so 9 times out of 10 there is more than just the car in question to pay out on.
  3. been in motor trade for 17 yrs and only worked at citron dealership 4 yrs and the only reason i have done that is because there wages were better than any where else because of bonus and over time. the reason being is these cars have so many problems the amount of work is endless so dont think this make of car is close to my heart. i speak as i find and i work to make money. obviously there are cars i would rather have but not many i would rather do a hundred mile round trip in and would never own one with no warrenty. dont think you can beat c4 hdi 110 for comfort, economy and performance. one of the best all round cars on the road imo.
  4. voltage sounds about right but the snow mode sounds like a software problem that a update could sort out. not supposed to go back to semi synth after using fully but i would use a good flush and go back to a heavier semi synth if i were you.

if it was for you then fair enough go for mgf, mx5, mr2 etc but if it for your wife you would be better off with a 206cc. rear wheel drive cars and women mix about aswell as water and oil. i worked in a bodyshop for 4yrs and the amount of rear wheel drive covertables that came through after a bit of rain was crazy. she will be thinking whos that loon overtaking me on a bend in the wet. ohh it me arse end.
  6. it pulls off. you have to pull quite hard. by twisting it you will have damaged something.

    Tow Bar

wouldnt say there straight forward but there not that bad and no they are not compatible. even xsara estate and saloon tow bars are diffrent.
  10. discs have a harder life now they are not allowed to use asbestos in the pads. pads now contain metal to make them last longer and help grip the disc better resulting in discs running at extreme temp which causes them to warp. with both brakes and clutch there is three choices. last for ever but have to have legs like garth to push down the pedals, a happy medium or nice and easy to press resulting in the car driving like a dream but components not lasting as long as they should. citroen went for the last one. you cant have every thing in life and i think you will all agree that citroen c4s are one of the nicest cars on the road to drive but as with every up side theres a down side. unfortunately.
  11. does the voltage drop below 12.5v when changing gear. if its not then you are not using the batterys resources. the alternator will take the voltage up to around 13.5v when engine is running but when you turn something on the alternator will put more out. if the alternator could not cope with changeing gear the the heated rear screen would kill the battery. as long as over all voltage does not drop below around 13v your alternator is doing just fine. as for the oil i cant understand why you used a lighter oil in the first place. if i were you i would go back to what it tells you to use in the hand book and if that doesnt work try fully synth and if that doesnt work using the wrong oil has most probably damaged your engine.
  12. 20 quid m8. and whatever postage if you want me to send it. live in durhan. just checked and i have 2 n/s (passanger side) h-lamps so you can take your pick.
  13. agree. its the shiney metal roller you need to grease and have found copper slip works best. if this does'nt work you will need to adjust the cable
  14. no you can not buy it without the light and you have to pull the side of the bumper forward to remove the h-lamp. (bit less work than removing whole bumper) think i will have a headlamp for this in the garage if your intrested.
  15. the plug on the lights is not multiplxed. use a tast lamp to check the wires. select revers with the ignition on and look for a live that was'nt there before and you will find it. multiplexed wiring does not carry live feeds so could not power bulbs etc. another way would be to remove the bulb cluster and follow the feed to the reverse back to the plug to see what pin it is.
  16. exactley. thats what they've done with the c4 picasso. you buy vtr+ base model and then you have to add to it unlike old vtr+ which was fully loaded.
  17. up to 80,000 k or 3 yrs. the last year of cover is no diffrent from the first. the only way the could get out of it is if the car had been serviced by non vat reg garage or after market parts had been fitted. there talking out of there arses mate.
  18. checked today and the 2 we have at work ar 56 reg. that explains it.
  19. price one headlamp to buy from dealer parts. think you will be looking at more than £500 for one headlamp over the counter. thats without extra parts for washers and other side headlamp. not a bad price imo.
  20. got hands like shovels m8. the hardest part i find is getting the caps on the back of the lights correctley. if there not fitted right you get water ingress and it steams up the inside of the light. if you think these are difficult you should try changing a c5 bulb. now there awkward.
  21. funny as i have never had to remove bumper to change bulbs. should have been about half hour labour and price of 2 bulbs. around £35 m8.
  22. can remember one came through over a year ago with the same fault as CE05LDB brother had but this only needed a ecu software update to sort out. apart from that one can not remember any others with probs.
  23. hdi vts never had xenon or spoiler as standard.
  24. most probs bulbs. one head lamp gives of enough light so you dont notice you have a lamp out untill the other one goes. probably been driving around with one headlamp out for ages.
  25. yes m8. the senso drive is a lot better on fuel due to the 5 speed box if driven in manual mode but they have there fair share of probs. theres a lot more sensos on the road so a lot more come through the garage with gearbox probs than autos. the senso drive is a load of fun on twisty backroads (not having to take hands of wheel to change gear) and sounds great when changing down and it blips the throttle but not for every day use for his wife. think the auto would be better for pottering around town and doing the shopping.
