  1. From memory the sinking at the rear is caused by fluid leaking past the seals on the rear legs Check and see if there's much fluid in the return pipes
  2. Isn't LDS a synthetic oil ? Isn't this like the days of the old DHS when later ones used LHM and earlier ones used something else which I think was water based and caused corrosion
  3. I've been toying with getting a Mk3 but I find them a bit cramped being 6' 2" and 20ish stone .Rear legroom is pitiful Plus there's so many toys on my Mk2 Exclusive that I wouldn't get on a Mk3 Bolingmores wrote to me about a Mk3 Exclusive Estate they had - probably a cancelled order .It had everything , cost £28K+ but was on offer for £24K .I'm afraid that if I was going to spend £24K on a replacement I'd put my money into a Volvo V70 to avoid such heavy depreciation
  4. Did you keep a sample of the fuel for analysis ? Do you know why the petrol in the fuel would make the fuel pressure too high? Is it because petrol is more watery and flows through the pump easier?
  5. Have you got a spark and compression on cylinders 2 and 3 ? It's not a gasket blown between the two , is it?
  6. I wouldn't rely on your modified key .One day you'll have a puncture and the key will slip on the bolt .Get some new bolts now , they're quite cheap on Ebay .Get the right type . there are flat seat and taper seat types
  7. MIne went through the MOT this week with just an advisory for a tyre which I knew about
  8. While it's working , leave well alone ! That's my motto
  9. When you say "go into the charged car" do you mean the one which is giving the power ,not the one taking it ? I suppose turning on the lights etc substitutes the load of the flat battery ? No wonder people are so unwilling to give anyone a jump start these days
  10. I've seen this article .I was going to ask Coastline how long it take him and does he use the puller
  11. John , didn't you buy new handbrake cable guides last year ? Mine's up for an MOT and I think I may face the same problem
  12. MIne's on similar mileage .I was going to top up the EOLYS but without hooking it up to a Lexia , it wouldn't do any good so I'm waiting till I get a message come up
  13. Some people swear by adding a shot of 2 stroke oil to the tank of diesel .Anyone tried this?
  14. Well done everyone
  15. How do we go about despamming this site before it gets unusable?
  16. Get well soon Steve ,We need you here
  17. You should have 30 mins before it goes into economy mode .It's to prevent you finding you've flattened the battery and can't restart the car
  18. I see On EBay there's someone sellling a repair kit for these valves
  19. This months Car Mechanics magazine has an excellent article on the Mk 2 C5 as a used car purchase , They recommend the 2.0 Hdi 138BHP 6 speed manual version
  20. You can buy a "Cube" with different spacing prongs to suit different calipers .This fits a 3/8" socket extension .You need to push in while turning. It's not hard , I've done it!
  21. I'm not sure but try holding the switch down for a few seconds , I've never had any trouble with mine .When new they used to make a noise and I thought they wouldn't last long but a squirt of aerosol grease and they're fine
  22. Is that repairable or a new sensor ? Strange thing is that I haven't had this happen for weeks Touch wood ....
  23. Surely the suppliers of the kit should tell you if you need a new fork ? If the SMF is the same thickness as the DMF then I'd guess not
  24. I thinkm you have the new C5 and I can't help you . Others might know the answer
  25. EGS is an electronically controlled conventional clutch and gearbox . One more thing to go wrong , in my opinion What service intervals are you on and how long does it take you to cover that mileage ? If it's 12500 and it takes (for example ) 2 years to cover that , I'd be inclined to have an oil and filter change at 6000 miles . I'd hate to be without a spare wheel even though I haven't had a flat tyre for ages
