  1. Easier to just unbolt one side of the bumper and some of the bolts across the front Just pull one side of the bumper forwards and prop it up on something - it's a big old piece to refit single handed otherwise And don't forget to remove the headlamp washer covers first
  2. That is nice ,Strut mountings are good, too I think it would look nice with some 51/2" J steel wheels Also an upgrade to disc brakes might be a good idea
  3. I'd be inclined to fit a new pump - they're quite cheap While it's off make sure the pipes to front and back aren't blocked
  4. I was imagining sometime like a float in the tank to tell the brain when the fluid runs out- obviously more sophisticated ..........
  5. My C5 has done 67K miles with no problems at present (touch wood). I'm wondering if I should put a litre of EOLYS fluid in the tank before it runs out. I'm thinking this will avoid having to have the computer reset once the low warning message comes up ? Is topping up a hard job ?
  6. He may only have third party cover in which case he needs to fix it at minimum cost
  7. Maybe it's to stop his rear wheels catching on the calipers ? Can't see it as a solution though
  8. I bet they'd knock £10K off that price when he took it in ..........
  9. John , those LED's look bright enough .Maybe how long they last depends on how much you pay ? Where did you get yours ?
  10. On a Mk2 they're 6watt halogen bulbs - 434 is the number I think They don't last long ,I'm thinking of trying LED bulbs
  11. Is this the same engine as Volvo use ? I see they make a V70 with a 1.6 engine - fine until you carry passengers or a load !
  12. First of all check the fuses and relays .Your handbook will tell you where which ones they are
  13. Are Mk 1 and Mk 2 seats the same ? Or are the covers interchangeable if the bases don't have the same electrics? I'm after a set of leather seats as well
  14. The handbook would suggest 10w/40 but I'll do an oil change before the summer (if we get one ) What I hadn't noted is that you need full synthetic with a PDF filter and I'm sure it's had semi-synth up too now However it's going well , doesn't use oil or smoke
  15. I'm a bit concerned that GSF sold me Carlube fully synth 5w/30 for my car . This was what their book said .I'm sure I've used 10w/40 before Is it OK on the thin stuff -seems to be going a treat ?
  16. I'd say 10K miles .One reason why I'd rather never have a brand new car .They're so much better after they've loosened up Mine's giving better consumption at 65K miles than ever before and all I can think of is that I'm using fully synthetic oil - who knows what my local main dealer was putting in it
  17. Is this on a new shape C5 ?
  18. Average speed 80 mph ? That would mean you were tonning it !! No wonder your mpg isn't too good
  19. Maybe as you're driving it gently it will take more than 4 k miles to loosen up ? Mine took a while before it gave it's best
  20. Glad to have found you all again I needed to ask a while ago if LED sidelight bulbs were a satisfactory replacement for the 6w halogen bulbs used on a Mk2 C5 which don't last very long For what it stands me in at ,there's nothing out there which would be a suitable replacement . I was thinking of a new style C5 but they seem ridiculously expensive now Citroen have decided not to discount the prices Dave
  21. For about 2 months I've been unable to find this forum and it's been here all the time What's happened ? I was beginning to panic in case I had car problems
  22. Is this a Mk2 C5 ? Mine is the same but I think this feature only works on certain models (not mine )
  23. Mine was done by a main dealer as the car was on a lease but I don't see why a good indie couldn't do it
  24. I had that and the garage told me they changed a rear strut as the fluid was leaking past the seals .I think you can pull off the fluid return pipe to check
  25. Do you mean Redex diesel injector cleaner ? If so ,I can't see it can do any harm .I've used it on my 2.0 Hdi 138 BHP C5 and an 02 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI before that
