  1. The only problem with them is all the wires around the gearstick which isn't a great idea. If you are unaware the lighter socket is next to the handbrake behind the gear stick. Thus you end up having to trail the wire all around the dash and they are usually not long enough can't mount the thing in the centre otherwise you then block your speedo. It isn't ideal in the C4 to have one of these in my view it gets bloody annoying fighting with wires around the indicator and gearstick and handbrake. Hence inetegrated is my preferance. It is also safer.
  2. The dash mounts are alright and it is what I used but next I am either going in car pc or looking at one of the Alpine or Pioneer integrated units. They just look a lot nicer and means I dont have cables and mounts all over the place. And can have it integrated and looking pretty much OE in fit which i like the sound of.

Think with the blaupunkt you should be ok I think they offer a connector to still keep the controls working. Get in touch with blaupunkt themselves to see what they say.
  4. Throttle bodies with some supporting mods can get it to the 180ish mark. But with what it would cost you would be better off just saving your money.
  5. They do swap them under warranty otherwise they are £160 each! Got to say mine has been fairly decent but I got another C4 the other week as a courtesy car and they have changed slightly it seems from the earlier keys like mine the new one felt more solid. But someone posted how to put them back together over on the C4 forum. Link to topic below. http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum_vi...c.php?9414.post
  6. Can do that but would mean losing the information centre and what it displays completely. Or could go with a single din flip out navigation system. Which would be my choice. Or there is what you were thinking of before with an incar PC mounted to a touchscreen under the airvents with satnav etc loaded on. Then run this into your headunit. Loads you can do. Incar PC might work out even cheaper if you have some spare bits lying around.

There is a point for those looking to up the power. It is easy and cheaper to get the diesel to 150hp than it is to do the same to the Petrol. Can get the diesel to 150 for £300ish while getting better mpg. But I just prefer petrol engines in small hatches. The big diesel lump can't do much for the handling.
  8. You can do all that differences....not much. Could go with a decat exhaust, intake, remap few other bits and pieces might gain you 20hp or so. Guessing you only have the 143hp engine? If there is a decent tuning company about they could do an ITB conversion. WIll get it up towards the 180 - 190hp mark properly mapped etc. Not cheap though it will give good results.

    Engines

Completely different cam...completely different engine. The 2.0 is an EW series engine the 1.6 is a TU engine. Can't be the same. It is common sense. Different power bands. Peak power is 5800rpm in the 1.6 versus 7000rpm in the 2.0 180. The 1.6 does not even rev to 7000rpm normally. If you want cam's for the 2.0 look at cams for the 206GTI 180, 307GTI 180. Might be the 206 RC out there. No idea.

Chances are not going to be many people on here with one. Know a lot of people love the engine in the other cars though and a remap alone takes it up towards the 140 - 150bhp mark. Which on a little car is pretty good fun. Especially when you get better MPG as well. Would like to try one myself.
  11. Depends on how much money you have to spend. But as john said it would be cheaper to buy a real performance car to begin with. Could supercharge the standard engine or turbo it. Costs a lot of money to do a proper job though. Will need all new internals for the engine low comp pistons, forged rods etc. Someone to map the car for you who knows what they are doing. It is not a cheap conversion it is very expensive. Anything you do really is going to be expensive. But if you want to spend the money anything is possible.
  12. They fit in the 205's so a lot of people put them in there for a track day car. Same with the 405 Mi16 that gets pulled apart for the same reason.
  13. My mate and his brother used to have a huge collection of 1:18th scale cars I think they were. Had them all in display cabinets. Think his brother took them when him and his gf got there house together. Valued at something ridiculous talking £10k+ last time I heard. Used to take up 3 walls in a large room and has grown since. Had hundreds of cars actually started with 3 of them collecting them. They were all into cars while their dad was into trains. And he has a load of train stuff.
  14. Like the red VTS. Quite a large collection you got there. Got any other cars? Used to collect them myself the larger ones though. Cant remember the exact scale now been a while since they even saw the light of day. You need one of the C4 Sport Concept models now mate.
  15. Would love to see where the extra speakers go in the coupe as well as I am pretty sure there is only room for 7 there as well. As long as they are sorting it out though mate all good. Should get yourself on the other C4forum as well. http://c4owners.org/ If you sign up and join with the £10 membership you get discount on various things should you find the offers worthwhile signing up for. Either way there are a lot more owners over there with more insight into everything.
  16. I am not a big fan of the Jetta but for what they are great cars well put together etc. And it is red...always a good choice. The VAG TDI's are cracking engines though. Bit of a shame your C4 was such a lemon and your dealers were utterly useless as well though. I still love mine now that it is problem free. No rattles no nothing now dealer has fixed my squeak.
  17. Probably just a minor glitch. If it happens again get it into the dealer or mention it next time you are there. It is normally just a sensor problem though. Unfortunately it happens with all the technology being put into cars now you are going to get the occasional faulty sensor. I had one that caused the car to go into limp home.

    Help

Whats the problem getting into the owners club? As nearly all of us use that. How is it impossible to get into? If you have not got a handbook tell your dealer who should have supplied it with the car. Unless it is already in the drawer under the passenger seat?
  19. The V6 with a supercharger or turbo and supporting mods can get to some pretty good power in excess of 400hp without much trouble. But running all that through the front wheels would not be my idea of fun.
  20. How about just trading up to the 2.0 180hp engine? Or if you want to do a bit of a project could go with the V6 engine will need a fair bit of custom work but a good auto shop should be able to handle it. If they can fit the V6 engines in the front of a 106 / Saxo I can't see why they can not get on in a C4.
  21. I have been asking for people to post pics and no one ever does lol. Just thats apparently where the amp is according to others. Never had the chance to go digging through a car with the JBL to know for a fact how its all hooked up etc. Just going on what others have said. My advice is check out the other C4 forum where there are far more with the JBL system who may be able to offer you a bit more knowledge on it. Otherwise get it to the dealers and ask them to sort it. If the sub has been blown from day 1 it is there responsibility not yours.
  22. A few of us have come to the conclusion that alloys are so last year. I'm now going to the SX steelies with chrome spinner wheel trims. Gonna be pimp innit yo!
  23. A BX 16 valve which still has its engine...rare. Think most of these have been cannibalized for the engine.
  24. Thats exactly what I have and have been saying that for a while. But I went all aftermarket with mine. Amped components up front and amped sub in the rear. Sounds great to me.
  25. Does it sound like there are tweeters in the rear? If so thats probably your extra 2 speakers. They like to count the tweeters as 2 speakers.
