  1. The Focus is bloody ugly. The 307 is just awful to look at much less reliable for some reason and considering it has the same suspension as the C4 drive them back to back and the C4 feels light years ahead in the bends. Megane is good on the higher end models but seating position is a bit naff the rear end looks awful as well. And 2 friends own them and both say the C4 is a better built car. Golf had one of them in the past. Dull to drive dull to look at. GTI is the only one worth caring about and its just not that great not for the cash especially. Astra is alright doesn't handle as well as the C4 not as comfortable inside and the interior is pretty awful. Exterior is quite nice I nearly bought one until I test drove the C4. I think of all of them only the Astra Sport hatch and C4 look nice the rest are dull or ugly. The only one which would hold its money more than the C4 is funnily enough the Golf. And only for there reputations of being solidly built. The cash back offers etc given by citroen means initial purchase prices are quite small. I can get the top spec C4 Coupe for £14k 180hp engine pretty much fully loaded and it would lose a similar amount to the others in the first couple of years. Cars depreciate its a fact of life. I would rather drive somethign I enjoy than look at numbers and pick something that someone else finds pretty which I personally find dull and something everyone else has. If you like being a sheep fair enough. I personally like something a bit different. Why when looking for a 2nd car for a fun performance car no German cars have been considered everyone goes for an M3 or similar. Instead im looking at Saleen Mustangs.
  2. No. A supercharger works like a turbo. A turbo is actually a form of supercharger. A "real" supercharger is ran from the crank with the exception of the turbo which uses exhaust gases to power it. And what happens is the impeller (In a centrifugal type spins at around 15,000rpm+ depending on level of boost and compresses the air so it is denser. Denser air = more power. Thats why on cold mornings your car feels faster than on a hot day cooler denser air entering the engine thus more oxygen thus more fuel thus a bigger bang. You then have the positive displacement type superchargers the twin screw and roots type blowers. Which do it by a different means. Have a look at the link below it will help explain it by use of a few diagrams. A fan spinning is not a supercharger a supercharger is a compressor. Which is why Mercedes refer to there supercharged cars by using the term Kompressor. A fan just moves air if the engine needs more air than that fan can move and is pulling it through the intake anyway the fan is just getting in the way causing a dead zone where air cant pass anymore where it could previously (The centre of the fan). You carry on liking the C1 and I hope your happy with it. There great city cars but I would prefer driving something a bit bigger and more comfortable with some more power. I am more than happy with my C4...and to be fair I reckon if I was to park up next to a C1,107 or Aygo and ask which one people would rather have im betting most would pick the C4. The new twingo is meh. The current model isnt that great there will be an RS version joining the lineup next year or in early 2009. should be around 150+ hp. There are 5 varieties of the C4 all are different cars. Mine is the Coupe Which looks like the images below. http://www.mybigspoon.com/wozza/side.JPG http://www.mybigspoon.com/wozza/rear.JPG
  3. There are a fair few people over 6 foot who drive the coupes as long as your not in the back its no problem. If anything its easier to get in and out of the front of the coupe being bigger due to the larger doors etc. I'm 5"11 and im a big guy 19+ stone and find it no problem getting into and out of the coupe even when drunk. What didn't you like about the EGS box? Most people seem to love it so just curious I have yet to try one. No idea about the Auto either dont think anyone has bought one as far as I am aware most people stick to the EGS box. Not to mention the Exclusive is rather exclusive. Try the main http://c4owners.org/news.php forum. Most of us are on both forum but there are a lot more members over there who may be able to help you out and give you some good information about the automatic.
  4. Automotive design..I did a bit of that in my first year. My degree although I have not currently Finished it is in Automobile Engineering. To my knowledge there is no way that fan could supply enough air into the intake for it to make a difference. Its simply not gonna output enough air. And due to the fan having a dead zone in the middle its just reducing the intake volume thus reducing the power is more likely the case.

    Bug Splat

Tar remover should be fine for a new car and then get a fair bit of wax etc on there to help protect it in future and make it a little easier to clean. If its really hard to get off claying it would be the answer. Although shouldn't really be needed on a brand new car however depends where you keep your car. Mine has to be done a couple times a year due to my drive having trees over it. Thus the tree sap and dead bugs etc gets hellish to remove.
  6. When you say E supercharged you dont mean one of those fan things in the intake do you? Just curious as I see no actual supercharger in that picture I just see an intake. If its one of those fan intake things well...there about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. If anything there likely to cause a loss of power due to a restriction in the intake path. And 90bhp...I just dont see a car like this gaining 20bhp+ from something like that think someone needs to get a grip. Unless I can see a graph showing the before and after on the same day I'm not gonna believe that. Only way I can see it making 90bhp is to have some rather more serious mods on it, the engines are highly under rated or its a factory freak and I mean a big freak. If fans in the intake really did give gains like this manufacturers would have used them by now. They simply get in the way and cant provide enough airflow to the engine. Good for making a bit of money with fools willing to buy them though. Would go well with a £4.99 "chip" off ebay. Don't mean to sound rude but I feel for people who buy these things as there obvious quite naive.
  7. I said I had one as a Courtesy car and it was rubbish. Which the 1st one I drove was. The 2nd one I drove I also pointed out that it was better than the first I drove. My main issue though is with the seat / driving position. I'm a big guy and its just not meant for big people and I had specifically mentioned to them I needed a car suitable for carrying a wheelchair and they had promised to give me a Picasso courtesy car. Instead I got a 1.0 C1...I was fairly annoyed fault of the dealers really. Why I dont use that dealer no more. And the Focus is a better looking car than the C4... I picked the C4 because as many people say its probably the best looking car in the class. The new Focus I personally think is a downgrade from the old one in terms of Aesthetics. Its just ordinary and dull. And the ST just tacks on a few bits of Chrome plastic and some bright paint and it just doesn't do it for me. I just prefer the C4. The funny this about the JD power thing is if you read the reviews those who like the car give it 5 stars for pretty much everything. Those with problems give it 1 or 2 stars. I would say drive one yourself before you put them down. But a lot of the bad reviews I saw seem to be based on early 04 - 05 models. And well they were getting upset about having to have things sorted under warranty. I bet they would not have complained if they had a BMW with teething issues. New cars has problems that need to be ironed out. Hence why you normally get a face lift a couple years later with new parts and cars where most of the kinks have been worked out. I can say though mine has been relatively great. Its rattle free, and is very comfortable to drive. The only issue was the clutch dying before 10k miles which was due to a manufacturing defect was replaced and the car has been fine since. Even better now with coming up to 17k on the clock engine has loosened up nicely and it pulls rather well for a little 1.6. I'm fairly happy with it in the 2 years I have had it. The only rattle I got which I fixed myself was because some little chav scrote put my back window in and glass got stuck in the boot. Thought I had got it all and missed a few bits. Still no fault of the cars the rattle...just some little ***oops*** who needs castrating.
  8. Not sure why it is your attacking C4's or me in fact. But whatever feel free As long as it makes you happier about driving your C1. Do whatever pleases you. But keep in mind my C4 has been rattle free and nothing has fallen off it. Enjoy your C1 while I continue to enjoy my C4. Just keep in mine there are very few people with problems on there C4 compared to how many are extremely happy with theres. You only need to check the main C4owners.co.uk forum to see that. Where people have actually posted about how great the car is. According to whatcar refinement and build on the C4 scores higher than all the Japanese rivals... isn't that interesting. 4car also happen to notice the same thing. As did a couple others in the motoring press. Maybe there all wrong or maybe you need to stop get over yourself and actually realise the C4 is a fairly good car. Maybe you should stop stereotyping French cars as being ***oops***. As I have owned a few Japanese cars in the past and im going to say my C4 is better built than my last Nissan Almera.
  9. It was a joke. I know there different companies. I'm just saying im not a fan of Kenwood units. Not as good as the Pioneer's or Alpines they look nice but thats about it. Then again there are better than the alpine and pioneers when it comes to sound such as Nakamichi. It was just a joke.
  10. It was somewhat of a joke. But the VTR+ and VTS have a different screen. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG Thats what the one in my car looks like.
  11. Exhaust is normal. Theres threads about it on here. And KFK has mentioned it numerous times as well saying its normal. I got to drive another C1 the other day and this one was better than the other one I got to drive for some reason. Still not a fan of the seats but this one just seemed a little keener to move.
  12. And yet on the C4 Owner site they have C4 VTS's....
  13. Hope the dealer is replacing it for you? See if you can get a VTR+ type one much nicer.
  14. Alpine do the best receivers. Kenwood need to stick to making food processors. :)
  15. G to a scrappie and get a 2nd stock one and get some fibreglass and create your own. Bit of work but its not that hard. Just time consuming.
  16. Think the dealer at Bolton is supposed to be good. I use Citroen Bury now who I think do a better job than Citroen Manchester. Not quite as close as Blackburn but not a massive trek away either. If they buggered me about like that I would change dealers.
  17. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=1434 Have a read through might find somewhere like that to route the cable through. If not drills at the ready.
  18. I run mine at the loaded mark like john which is 37PSI front 40PSI on the rear. Or there abouts. Mainly as when I take the car out its usually to pick something up. Or theres 4 - 5 people in it.
  19. There should be a plaque on the inside of either your driver or passenger door with recommended tyre pressures. The Nokians seem to be a brand local in your area so never heard anyone else running them. I would personally go with something else when the tread runs out. Maybe go for Michelin's or Continentals for the summer before going back to studded tyres. Not sure what else to suggest other than lying the doors with Dynamat or something similar.
  20. What tyres are on the car? As we all get the Michelin PE2 tyres on ours. And they are very quite in my opinion at speed. I can have my stereo off on the motorway up around the 130kph mark and its very quite. Much more so than my friends Focus.
  21. Have you tried. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ See if the ones on there are available to fit your car.

    Car Alarm

The only one i would consider buying are the car alarms which page you to tell you someone is near your car / getting inside it. That would them tell me I need to get something hard and bat shaped.
  24. Try switching the red and yellow wires around on the back of the headunit there is normally 2 red 2 yellow that you can clip into each other. Swap them around.
  25. Man that wicked red car next to yours is sexy...I wonder whos car that is. :(
