I wouldnt bother i just remember when KFK listed it in all the options you could enable etc it stuck out. Its probably just to correct that slight variation of the speedo / mileage its only a tiny percentage but I suppose after a fair few thousands of miles could alter the reading somewhat. But to the majority of us...no it doesnt matter. its reading 0.55mph difference at 70mph thats all.
-
205/50/R17 is what we have as standard on the VTR+ and VTS 17" rim. So will be fine. Im sure KFK said there is a thing on the computer to tell the car your have 17" rims fitted though.
-
Look on mytyres.co.uk quite a few have reviews of the tyres.
-
Depends on the car. Going above an 18" is rarely ever needed. And the only reason for going to a bigger rim is usually because wider tyres are available which might be needed on some of the very high end sports cars to get traction. Thats about it. On cars like ours 16" - 17" is about perfect for handling. But they would look prettier with 18" as the arches are huge it would fill it out a bit more.
-
Putting wheels further out usually gives you better handling. Why some of the cars with suspension upgrades as standard move the wheels further out. And clearance I dont see an issue with the wheels sit quite far in the arch to be fair they could be pulled out a bit.

Spot the perfectionists amongst us.

They didn't do a good job on the cut out for the exhaust though. Looks a bit rough. Id be taking it back and telling them to get it perfect if it was me.

Turbo lag is not something you get up at the higher rev range. Its what happens when the turbo has not spooled up yet. Yours spools up around 1500rpm so very little lag. And if you have had it remapped chances are its still making power after that 4000rpm mark. Without getting technical the best time to shift isn't always after its stated dropping off sometimes holding it longer will result in you changing up and being in more power / torque thus accelerating quicker than if you changed as soon as it dropped off. Using my car as an example I know peak power is hit at 5800rpm or there abouts. But I dont change up till around 6500rpm because it pulls better in the next gear if I leave it a little longer. And the VTS180 manages the sprint to 60 a second quicker. Which might not sound much but it is a fair bit when you actually see the distance. MPG means nothing to me hence the cars im looking at.

Where did you get your GPS receiver from mate? Looking for one for my PDA so I can get TomTom on there.
-
Gains around 35bhp with remap so 170ish bhp and a lot more torque. But the handling isnt as good, the car is heavier so slower still, Power band isnt as long.
-
Theres a coating to help prevent the interior getting hot. It doesnt help that much but thats what causes the problems. It does usually find the signal eventually though. Near the rear view mirror the black patterned part of the window is usually fine for getting a signal on though.

Go daft put a V6 in there instead of the 2.0 16v. IF your spending all that money make it a bit different rather than buying an engine that you can already get in the car from the factory.
-
Diesel is 138bhp petrol is 180bhp. Thats a fairly big difference. Diesel makes its power before 5000rpm petrol doesn't make its power till 7000rpm.
-
It should be situated at the end of the exhaust manifold. Not always the case but in your vehicle it should be. And they look somewhat like this. http://www.diy-nitrous.fsnet.co.uk/images/car-turbo.jpg

Not a chance in hell on that engine. Its already in such a high state of tune and unlike your diesel which has a turbo which is why it makes decent power with a remap it just doesn't happen on high horsepower n/a engines. For that to get a decent real 200+bhp and be proven your talking at least £3000 if not more. To get it over 200bhp your gonna need to go 1 of 2 routes forced induction. IE. Turbo or supercharger. Or gonna require cams head work piggy back ecu etc. The 180 engine like other similar engines costs a lot of money to tune. The Clio182 is exactly the same. Which is a totally different engine. Yet to get them to around 200bhp tuning companies start there prices at £2000. If you want 220 - 240bhp your gonna be spending the best part of £5000. Tuning N/A engines is not cheap.
-
CDA will give marginal gains maybe 1 or 2bhp at most. Remap might gain 5 - 10bhp. Straight through would not give much either maybe another couple of horses. Theres a big difference between an N/A petrol engine and something with a Turbo. The only real way to make decent power from that engine is to go a bit more mental. Turbo conversion or cams, piggy back ecu or throttle bodies or a combination. Maybe head work etc. As I said it costs a fair bit of cash. Can spend £3000 and just about have it over 200bhp if you stayed N/A.

That piece of plastic is just clipped in just push it. if it looks loose see if it goes back.
-
You live in a hot climate, its a heavy car and the 180hp is right up at 7000rpm with not much low down torque unfortunately its not gonna be that quick. Induction etc might give minor gains but its already a fairly highly tuned 2.0 you will get very little from it. Unless you want to spend a serious amount of cash on it you wont get much out of it.

Those surveys always seem a little off to me. If someone buys a 60k car and it goes wrong there not gonna advertise the fact its gone wrong much. Most common thing I see at the side of the road...the 3 series BMW. Yet it always comes in the upper segment of the surveys. The only thing wrong with my interior is my seat currently which I think is down to me asking them to fix a squeak that developed probably due to me being a fatty and looks like the bolt came loose and was not tightened up again. Everything else has been great with the exception of the clutch.
-
Does look somewhat like the C4 red in that picture though. Why I like it. Just keep hearing about those 1.9's making silly power after a remap etc. And still getting amazing consumption.
-
Not the biggest fan of VW's but sure it will be a good mile muncher and the 1.9 TDI's are brilliant engines. Sounds good though. And red has to be the best colour.

Whats the spec etc of the Jetta? Its summer should just say pay me the petrol money and use the VX have some fun while working :) lol.

He already knows most of us from the other forum. But hi anyway.

Couldn't they just be adjusted to work? Like they do on a lot of cars that have to do the SVA test here.

the 9-3 is a nice car looked at one recently but again older model is far prettier the chrome around the lights on the new one ruins it for me. I'm not a fan of chrome at all. Alfa 159 is a nice car though mate have a 156 for a couple years lovely car. But depreciation is worse than the C4. And build quality can be just as bad. But the engines are great. Same mate upgraded to a lexus IS 200 and said the power was rubbish the lexus was crap compared to the Alfa. y only issue at the moment is theres not really any european cars out currently that are very appealing that get the balance of handling and build quality right for the price. Jap cars are great but amazingly dull. Love the civic interior but the rest of the car is awful hate the looks. Which is why im going American. Although I do like the new M3 which is saying something as I have made my views on BMW's fairly clear in the past.
