But if you are comming to a stationary traffic on the motorway and you brake hard enough to force the hazards to come on you are more than likely to casue an accident. Besides which as flashing your headlights, pinging your hazards on as you are in motion "in therory" according to the highway code is meaningless. We all know however they have other unwritten meanings on the road. The flashing of headlights is only deemed as an indication of "I am here" Hazards are only to be used in the case of emergency and again identifies your car as a hazard to all other road users.

yes, we just dont know the answers to your questions... :P

They'll probably argue the system exsists but only operates under certain extreme conditions...

I've thought about this but above 30mph, neither do I fancy trying it or fancy undertaking the clean up operation afterwards. There is a nice big airfield begging to be blasted up nearby however....although not in my car!

Oh no more science ;) :P

Ah shmickles :( And there I was thinking Gran Turismo was just like the real thing. God Stuey you really know how to really dissapoint someone! ;) ...And then there are the horror stories of people braking hard with ABS and because the pedal went ape judering,as they can do on cars with ABS, they ease off the pedal and thus still hit the object... ;) Besides which I was thinking the other day...has anyone been brave enough to see how hard you have to brake before your hazard warning lights come on? :P

Exactly you cant beat a good bit of elbow grease to give you maximum satisfaction ;) Yes not bad for free, but no way would recommend paying for it...

I'm not sure how this system works as I have exerpierienced a number of times wheel spinning on mud without any idication of ESP comming into play. OK speeds were very low but thought it would be at least trying to apply traction where it is required. Hence to say, the wheels continued to skid and spin. I think I read in the hand book that the ESP system should be turned off ? ( ;) ) in icy/ snow conditions. Remeber though that ESP does not make a poor driver a good one. It is a driving aid and not a solution to poor driving...not saying you are a poor driver! ;) :P :P

Good therory...but lacks the application of bafling science. ;) :P To follow on from Grumps's comments... why doesnt my wind come out of my vent at 100mph if say I am traveling at 60mph into a 40mph head wind? ;) Or should we be quoting litres per second? :P

When I picked up mine from the dealer it looked like the pleb who had cleaned it was drinking fanta or something as it was all stuck to the dashboard and windscreen...I asked them to clean it and they were just about to make it worse by applying a "high gloss" dashboard cleaner to it....ick! Needless to say I had to clean it off when I got home ;) :P By the way...I got Supaguard chucked in for free however if I had paid for it I think I would be pretty pee'd. The salesman comments is firmly etched in my mind "its a great product you'll never have to need to wash the car EVER again" Besides which the picture of Tiff Needel on the box didnt really sell it to me either. I just have fond memories on Halfords training videos of yesteryear. Not really sure if it ever worked. Yes the water streams off the car for a few days after application, but cant say I can get excited about it enough that I wet my pants.

Citroen And Bmw Use The Same Engines
Rich_Eason replied to hertsnminds's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I remember back in the early 2000's Auto Expressed published a "world atlas" of all the car markers and the connections between companies in and around the world. As you can imagine it turned out to be quite a spiders web of relationships! E.g. Ford used PSA diesels as identified, but also Yamaha also developed the petrol 1.6 zetec used in Fords.... the relationships are complex and intermingled often associated with companies you wouldnt associate with cars. -
Brand Spanking Wicked Red C4 Exclusive being locked and owners walking away in Bath, Charlotte Street Car Park Sunday 5th Nov lunch time ish...

Grumps How fast do you take your corners so that when you go round you find yourself moving across the airflow of the vents? By fixing the direction of the vents wont change as you go round the bends...I mean Citroen have done that with headlights but is there a requirement for air vents?! :P :o  *Slowly seeing this topic degenerating and more science needing to be applied.*

yes its twice as wet :P

Mine too... You Tube is riddled with clips of him and makes me laugh everytime so simple and yet so funny. Have to say the otherone i love is "BRILLIANT!" "Arn't old people brilliant?... what they are right, are like really young people that have been round for a really long time, like years and years"

Living in South Gloustershire you get used to roundabouts...for some reason the council traffic planners believe that if there are traffic flow issues, stick a roundabout in. Take for example If I travel down the road for a distance of approx 3/4 mile i will negotiate a total of...8 roundabouts. This is a major commuting route and they seem to think that roundabouts are the source of all solutions. Need to slow traffic down, stick a roundabout in. Need to speed it up...stick a roundabout in. I remember one night I thought I would see how fast I could go round a certain roundabout in my Cooper, nice and tight, cambered = great fun, only to find that as I entered the roundabout I think the Exxon Val'des had previously negotiated it, span past the first exit sideways and ended up facing the wrong way out of the second exit  Completly irresponisble and never to be repeated again however Luckily damage free!

Arent you meant to put them in a bucket of sand, as the watter would steam? Kill joy

OK peeps, my two peneths worth... I had the opertunity to wash the VTS spending a bit of time removing lumps of mud, seagull shite and general crap. I guess soon we will all be fighting the dreaded salt spray soon... So, managed to grab a few pics of "Jose" yes that what SWMBOID calls it....why do women have to name cars?! http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/9629/jose1kb7.jpg http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/2728/jose2mo6.jpg http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/5917/jose3jq3.jpg

More Questions than answers! How Fat would I need to be to be bullet proof? If I drink a glass of milk, how do I make it come out of my tear ducts? Why if I'm traveling on a train at 120mph and I decide to get out of my seat and walk to the loo and decide on the way to jump up in the air, does the train not pass beneath my feet at 120mph? Where does white poo come from? - not the specific part of the body Answers on a postcard...
-
But that would mean then that the air on the passenger side would would be coming faster than the driver side due to centrifugal forces? (or should I shut up?)

 *blinded by science*
