  1. OK posting has been quite quiet today and being that we haven’t done one for a while here’s a seasonal weather related poll...auto wipers. What do we all think of them? A Hit? You couldn’t live without them, love em to bits and will be on the lists of wants for your next car... A Miss? Find them distracting and irritating when the wiper speed goes crazy in drizzle... Maybe? They are ok but don’t find it the most helpful and reliable function... I just don’t understand why when stationary they continually sweep like its hammering down and wipe a dry screen, where as all the driver activated wiper functions they intermittently sweep when stationary...
  2. Welcome to the forum  It might be worth keeping an eye on this thread and see what develops. It is often very difficult to diagnose such faults without looking at and testing the cd player itself...
  3. Driving into work this morning I had a wave from a Blue and White DS owner so I guess they spotted me?!..does that count?
  4. Yes agree with the vision about the only thing you can clearly see is what the weather is doing. I think one thing that really makes these cars is the colour they are. Black looks good I had that steel grey silver and just looked dull and the shitest wheel trims you've ever seen in your life...
  5. Tried one as a hire car the other day...couldnt get over how "compact" it was all inside...polite way I guess of saying small. Loved the blue glowing central dial and piano finish dash - perhaps wont stand the test of time with scratches. Hated the mixtures of shapes on the dash e.g. triangle vents/ round vents also felt a bit claustraphobic in it all around you. Took a bit of winding up to get it going.... Overall impressions....glad I got the C4 Although the shots of the Type R look nice..
  6. What the hell has happened to this thread? :o :D  If you want to see some madness how about this video clip? Ultimate thrill or.....insane?
  7. It has something metalic and cold to touch, what it is actually made of I'm not sure I'd guess some kind of plated plastic.
  8. Not sure I like the gear stick either....fake chrome  :o Its got the fake carbon fibre dash panel So does that make it a VTR? Always reassuring to see that they have also taken a picture of the "if you rev it hard enough the taco glows red" selling point.... http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7567/dsc06910bg6.jpg Still dont like the steering wheel, I guess the holes are provided for you to keep your thumbs busy as they arnt asisting changing gears?
  9. Daft Question or perhaps not... Does this happen with a particular CD/ CD's from the same label e.g. BMG? Some of the more recent more popular CD releases have been issued with copy protection on them and can/ has cause havoc with certain audio CD players. Not suggesting you have copied CD's, I am talking about the originals. I have one CD released by Sony and if played on one CD player in the house will spin the CD 5 times as fast as it should and will never play nor eject. I have heard stories of CD's with "bonus videos" copied on the CD can also cause similar problems. Just a thought.
  10. Just been browsing t'internet and stumbled across these pics on Parkers LINK Now forgive my ignorance as to be honest I have never really noticed/looked, but do Auto C4's have different steering wheels to manuals? I have just never noticed the cut outs in the steering wheel spokes. Is this to enable you to find the flappers behind if you cant find them by feeling? My VTS having the solid spokes.... Or are the steering wheel designs different across the range? I know they are "trimmed" differently e.g. leather/plastic Not sure I'm liking all the fake "bling" surrounding Auto Selector/ Paddles and steeringwheel.
  11. The use that in South Africa, To stop hi-jackers where i am pretty sure that picture came from.... not sure if it is legal over there anyway..... :P Yes it was off a BBC international site or something, not the best pic but you kind of get the idea! Perhaps not legal but then neither is tampering with/ damaging other peoples property...
  12. If no joy with that option what about fitting a "Blaster"... http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7566/232777car300ur3.jpg More than likely highly illegal but as the image shows, it is an ideal solution for all those pikies bending down to "half-inch" your VTS badges. You can almost smell the torched shell suit and Reebok Classics....
  13. This is where I am...Bristol http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/5653/c4mapcopyyv1.jpg So thats makes me about 1hr 5mins from yours I believe Mat as the crow flies. C'mon you all keep populating!
  14. Ciaran No one is trying to portray you as something that we all know you are not...however I feel we all need to think about how some people may portray the things we write and as the author, review the other ways in which it can be read. I just take slight offence to these types of comments as it shouldnt matter where the person is from and if their english is poor, we are all grown ups and can help the forum members as much as we can irespective of languege abilities. If you are curious as to the location, there are other more simple/polite ways of asking someone where they are, one of them isnt to reminding or informing them that their english is poor. You are obviously a very emotional person and you just have to accept that there are people on the forum including me, are going to read things differently to the way that you perhaps intended. All I am saying is just be careful how you write things and think how it may read.
  15. yeah, nobody goes sticking their head under there in normal circumstanses... and your second paragraph...have you been drinking this mornig Rich?? Erm No!... but re-reading that, it appears that I lost the ability for a brief moment all hand eye engaged brain coordination!
  16. I guess the designers assume you will never look in these parts as, apologies for using the same example, my old focus was like this, especially under the glovebox where there was a raft of chemically blackend metal panels with surface rust and exposed phillips screw heads. Its all much of a much these days, what you gain in one you loose in the other but then the other doesnt have that is what you have gained!.....
  17. I have the same rattle and think I have found the source or perhaps one source! The sound deadening panel behind the injectors on mine is loose as one or more of the retaining clips are broken. This frequently rattles against the bulkhead panel when the engine idles. The other rattle is a high frequency vibration when traveling at motorway speeds. Sounds like a plastic panel is resonating. Build quality wise I'd say the C4 is certainly up there with the likes of the Focus, some of the C4's details are perhaps a bit lost, but then could say the same for the focus's i have driven. In comparison to the new Focus I'd say its pretty fair cop. At least the C4 doesnt have the plethora of multiple plastic panels the deeper you go into the foot well...its all one type. Packaging I'd suggest the C4 is better never been in a similar sized car with so much leg room. If it was going to be built to BMW, Audi quallity then it would have a price tag to match. Weak points interior wise the only real major concerns I have is some of the exposed wiring for the seat belts especially when the seats go down. Brakes catch me out once in a while but have now got used to them... Few trim rattle sin the door Other than that I am pleased as punch.
  18. Just seems like the last few days there has always something been wrong with the VTS! First the tyre...ok it happens and no way of knowing that the drylining screw was sat in the road waiting with my name on it.... Second: Wound down the passenger window to pass out my car pass to security guard and spent the next 15 miles trying to get it to go back up properly. As it went up and sat in the window seal it would then retract back - anti pinch. I eventually got it to stay up but was wistling wind like Roger Witicker. Eventually got it to seat properly. Third: Yesterday the driver seat raise and lower lever came off. Does anyone else find that the seat belt gets caught/wrapped around this? Fourth: My Passenger door speaker is rattling like it has washers sitting on top of the cone. Its definatly not the speaker itself as pushing the panel stops the vibration but is anoying. The panel even sometimes resonates when the radio is off... There is an upside however! :D Driving again into Bath on Friday morning the traffic was really bad (as usual) sat in the queue of traffic there was a new black Vauxhall Tigra behind. I swear Alex Lovell of BBC Points West and Brainteaser fame ( )was driving. For those who dont know who the flipping hell she is, see here... ;) Link The only problem was the flipping bar across the rear window was blocking my view and couldnt be sure! Certainly made the journey into Bath that much easier to take in.... :D :P
  19. Overall, how do you think the car has managed the last 50k miles? From your experiences do you think there is anything that needs a change in terms of quality, layout, build? Anything that hasnt stood the test of time? Positive and Negative points?! What about the next 50k miles? Questions questions questions! Just be interesting to see what your views will be as an owner that has spent more time and milage in a C4 than perhaps the rest of the forum owners.
  20. Wozza I'm happy with that, as much of a friendly environment this forum provides I think we perhaps need to just bare in mind and respect those who wish to contribute. Sorry if I've been out of turn
  21. Not intending to upset anyone however... I'm really struggling to hold back and be restrained here and perhaps being a bit over sensitive....but what has this got to do with anything, does a comment like this add value to the forum discussion? People may be dyslexic, from another part of the world where English is not their native language, or may only have basic reading and writing skills...but please don’t mock people on the forum for poor English/grammar. I know for a fact my English isn't perfect, however I know for sure I wouldn’t know where to start with speaking Syrian let alone sit on an internet forum and ask about car audio systems. We should welcome all to the forum, and not make them apologise for bad translation, spellings etc... Apologies, if you are offended by my comment but think it is relevent not to the topic, but is relevent to comments such as this.

    Tyres

Yes in answer to the topic about ever 4 weeks i get a beep I bought a crappy air compressor for 5 quid, never used until one day used it in anger to pump up the tyre of a sack truck, talking 5inch tyre max. Pushed it on fired it up and the compressor just blew apart with the first rotation of the compressor. Gees cant buy anything for £5 these days! :P
  23. To clarify! When I said about the wheel going bang I was actually talking tounge in cheek! Oh blige i bet you all think I'm a right nugget now!
  24. To get to the point, today I have had a bad day, which all started with the VTS getting a pucture in the middle of this mornings rush hour. Any hoo Have just managed to get the puncture repaired and was talking to the chap who "reckons" that when they replace the tyres on Renaults fitted with pressure sensors they blast up the pressure to 70PSI ( :o ) and then drop it down to the recommended pressure. In doing so it is supposed to reset the sensor and thus not require a dealer reset. I asked him not to do this on mine however as I didnt want to make my day go any worse than it already had gone and see the Revolsen wheel shatter into a trillion bits as well as the tyre. Neadless to say it doesnt need the dealer reset anyway! However hands up to the pressure sensors as they certainly did their job.
  25. How is it applied? Spray on or applied? Agree with Supaguard complete tosh. No way can I be fagged to pay the £25 for the top up kit. The interior was done as well so if I ever did have the misfortune of a spillage in the car at least "I hope" the product holds up to its claims...which i doubt
