  1. Probably damage your seats to be honest. All that weight upon the seat backs may distort the filling material or something. If I was you I would do small loads in the boot area only. See HERE for info on maximum laden weights
  2. Firstly what size are the slabs and how thick? Working on the assumption that the bags of concrete did not exceed 25kgs each and totaled 150kg's I'd say that that was probably half the recommended weight. But felt enough IIRC I think the max loading weight is 430kg for the 180 VTS, but these vary between models. If they are new slabs bought from a DIY shed I'd say they are no heavier than 25kgs but that is a fairly unsubstantiated assumption. The only reason I do say is because of manual handling regs. If they are old slabs being reused you can safely assume they are heavier and would think 6 to 8 or more will be pushing it.
  3. Mat I'm glad you have statred this thread it could prove very useful! It actually puts the capacities of the C4 in human terms! I had 6 bags of concrete in the boot the other day and would say that was enough
  4. My VTS had warped brakes when we test drove it at the dealers, it only had at the time 11500 miles on the clock. All discs were changed and all is fine. I know it sounds daft, but are you sure the tyre pressures are all ok? Are you just relying on the tyre sensors reminding you to tell you that pressures are low? I wouldnt rely on the garage gauges being much cop as well. Might be worth a check. I drove up to Brum at the weekend and noticed some slight vibration under braking down a slip road and wandering/vaguness - turned out that the offside front was low only by a few PSI but enough to cure the vibration and sterring feeling.
  5. Ah right sounds like a gimick to me....
  6. Without wandering off topic too much Its got a K&N 57i induction kit...whats the deal with these? Any good just out of curiosity?
  7. In theroy though he perhaps should have paid such a high price for it in the first place. At that price it is basically RRP which is daft to pay on any car. There is always room for improvement i.e. downwards, especially with Citroen. Unfortunatly by offering such great deals it also encourages high depretiation over the first few years. That is one reason why we didnt buy new as the cost of buying new and the depretiation out weighed the cost of actually buying the used car and for the amount we use it and intend to keep it, it wouldnt make sense. And the sake of a years milage its no skin off my nose, it still smelt like a new car inside :)
  8. We managed to bargain a grand of the screen price of our used VTS. To do that though they had to give me more than they wanted for the trade in Focus. Took some doing and was quite content to walk away as there are a few dotted about. If you look on the Citroen site you can search for specfic models in specific areas. If the engine is going to be the same as the engine in the new 207 GT/ GTI its not getting raved reviews. Each to their own and what they make of the write ups.... We were offered a brand new VTS at £14,500 but the depretiation factors and the savings we were making on the used VTS we were better off getting the used one.
  9. Not most cars...All cars! Used to work on construction sites as a project manager and never bothered to even consider washing the car. The only bit I bothered to keep clean was the bottom of the front door sills as they would always leave a line of filth on your trousers. Apart from the filth wilst working on site you also get "muck" and mortar splashes all over the car The tat man scratching down the side with a lenght of old copper pipe... Plenty of general scratches Believe me if there is one test for any cleaning product, it is cleaning a car that is frequently parked on a construction site...
  10. Wozza Its only too cold when you are washing your car and you start to put your hands in the bucket of warm water to warm them up...and when they do you get that funny "expanding" feeling in your hands and actually hurt! Believe me in days of past I have washed a car before and as I was chamoising down ice formed on the body :) If it gets too cold wozza, I'll buy you some Marrigolds... ;) :D :P
  11. I've tried Rain-X'ing my rear window and seems to be working.... The brakes do seem to create an awful lot of dust for some reason compared to other cars I have owned. Hands up for those who have sworn buggery bollo*ks catching/cutting your fingers on the metal valve stems when cleaning the alloys?! Apart from all the other bumpf that covers the car keeping it in the garage doesnt help as it gets covered in spider poo...small white spots.
  12. The plastic bit on the the veritcal rear window to sloping window. Do all C4' Coupes have em? Is that your back garden wozza? Fancy cutting my lawns?
  13. Is it me... Or does the C4 seem to attract general road dirt and grime more than any car on the road.... Hear me out on this one, all my previous cars I have owned in the past have generally looked clean-ish two weeks after a wash and wax. Apart from the usual spray up the wheel arches, general conditon was still ok/acceptable. However three days on from a laborious full valet my VTS looks like it has just completed the Super Special Stage of the WRC at the Millenium Stadium. Not only is the car now frequently garaged but is used less than previous cars! So.. Theory 1. Does the body design of the C4 just "have the knack" of getting grubby Theory 2. Wicked Red looks like a dull brown when it gets a bit grubby and looks dirtier than it actually is.....however always looks stunning when buffed  :o
  14. The little spoiler - the one beneath the hoop that Ciaran is after - is this the same as fitted to all standard three door coupes or does the VTS stick out more? Just dont remember seeing the other day on a non spoiler fitted coupe that was all.... Just a thought...
  15. Hi Kieran welcome to the forum. I am sure there are people here who will happy to advise you on the pros and cons of all the questions you have so ask away! When you mention the 1.6 do you mean the 1.6 petrol or diesel version? Where as the 1.6 petrol may be margionally more tractable (i.e quicker reving, a bit nippier) the diesel version will provide you with a bit more "umpf" with the bit more extra torque and may be a bit more suited to the requirements you have mentioned. How they behave in proper heat none of us in the UK would ever be able to answer that question accuratly as we think 20degrees C is hot and 30degrees C unbearable! and we very rarely ever get into the 20s! Having never owned a diesel version I may be talking out of my arse and have said all that without looking/ quoting any figures so I am prepared to be shot down and proven wrong :o  :P Anyways welcome and get rid or the Yaris and get yerself a C4 :D they look 10 times better for a start! :(
  16. But what about company car tax?!
  17. Yet again we are all driving similar models but all have different functions?! Why dont they send them all out of the dealers with the same functions ALL enabled then we all "have the same" SX, VTR's and VTS's. Besides which it saves all the oiks like us going back to the dealers asking for it to be enabled.... This one sounds cozy! :o "Presence of the welcome function for the rear passengers" and this one scary! "Kilometre threshold for forcing of customer mode" ...Handy "Option for opening the boot via the high frequency remote control"
  18. A few members of the forum are reporting the clutch issue, i experience the same every now and then. It does seem to be worse after driving the car in heavy traffic or where you rely on a lot of hill starts. A longer drive seems to sort mine out and not come back until you get stuck in traffic again, which where I live is very common
  19. Alarm? I wasnt aware of an alarm being able to be set to a sound at any specific limit...? Only thing I can suggest is to go into Menu - Vehicle Settings - and see if there is anything in there to turn it off. If not I can only assume that this will be a dealer setting. As far as I am aware the limiter only prevents you accelerating over the set speed and will not alarm you. Strange one this.... B)
  20. Steady on Ciaran... I'll come round and cut a hole in the roof to fit your head in the car if you want B) B)
  21. Surely if you have sorted out your insurance, that would suggest that the car has been registered, which would mean that the VIN number has been recorded against the reg, which is probably in the process of being registered to you. So I wouldnt really accept their excuses that they "cant find it" as I would have thought by now the V5 docs are being processed? Unless you are happy to insure someone elses car?
  22. Your on an internet site about cars...come on theres a bit of geek in all of us. I'm certainly not a geek! :P ..just "a slightly interested more than others individual"... :D now where is my anorak.... Yeah well guess what Ham? I got two "remotes" with mine as well and a snazzy key ring too :o :D
  23. Call it what you want! I just call mine "car keys" :P You could call it Alf...thats easier to say than Plip. I just find "Plip" abit geeky/cringeworthy from the deepest depths of sales slang/ spin.
  24. God I hate that word "Plip"... :P Whats wrong with "car key"?!
  25. Not only is it a cheap effective and reliable security measure, it also ensures that she is locked out of the way and off the road! (which is a good thing!)
