  1. Welcome to the forum.
  2. A few years ago we had a 2005 Xsara Picasso and that did not squeak so it is still worthwhile finding the cause.
  3. The connectors under the seat may be loose so worth a look. If you do try them, make sure the key is not in the ignition switch and wait for about 15 minutes and also consider disconnecting the battery so no chance of an air bag going off. I do not know about the Xsara, but on the C5 quickly disconnecting the battey can cause problems so there is a procedure in the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned post that has worked ok. Cheap code readers only cover engine fault codes so an air bag fault would not be read and cleared. You would need a dealer type Lexia for this and Chinese copies are on ebay for around £100 and these use your lap top. Some members on here have used easy diagnostics but they are dearer than other sources http://www.easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4570415775/Citroen-Peugeot-Lexia-3-Kit-Diagbox-7.33/7076454 Unless you will be using the equipment more than once, it may be less cost to use a dealer if trying the seat connector does not work.
  4. Some of the info in this post may be of help but it may just be a problem with the connector under the driver's seat - if you do try the connectors make sure the key has been out of the ignition switch for maybe 15 minutes and also consider disconnecting the battery (follow the procedure in the Technical section Common Problems post). http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20987-what-is-the-drivers-level-2-airbag/
  5. If the speedometer is not a digital one its needle may be loose on its shaft. I had this on a C5 and was able to remove the needle and put it back with a drop of glue on the shaft. See 19 on the C5 Technical section Common problems post for more details. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20279-common-problems-rev-342014/ You have not mentioned any problems with the abs since the speedo often uses an abs sensor to detect the speed. There could be a common fault for the speedo and radio such as wiring damage behind the radio or a loose earth point, so it may pay to pull the radio out and have a look.
  6. I hope everything turns out ok in the end but I feel sure you have done the right thing rejecting the car. Probably this may put you off Citroens (or that dealer), if not, and you like the DS5, have a test drive somewhere else. If anyone else is offered BK14CZL then hopefully they will read this topic first. I have edited your earlier post to delete the mph for obvious reasons.
  7. If you push that corner of the car up and down as if checking the shock absorbers, does it then make the noise ? If so and using a helper it will be easier to find the cause. If you think it is from a rubber bush, you could spray it with something like wd40 and that may stop the noise but do not get any on the brakes/brake disc.
  8. I read a tip in Car Mechanics that you could swap the nuts across the sides of the car since the peened bit will be in a different spot, but if not then you will have your car off the road until new nuts are obtained.
  9. Welcome to the forum. Post any problems and we will try to help.
  10. A quick search shows the displays can be swapped over without needing to do any programming http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/7087-replacement-multifunction-lcd-display-2002-22-hdi-sx/?hl=%2Bmulti+%2Bfunction&do=findComment&comment=27655
  11. Welcome to the forum.
  12. I am not sure about this, but I think I may have read somewhere that the display with the extra info can be used and it works once plugged in.
  13. Have a look at the sticker on the door pillar, it gives the correct tyre size as well as pressure, paint code and RPO number.
  14. This lack of a spare wheel is annoying, we had to buy one and the jack, wheel brace, wheel nut cover removal tool and plastic tray for our 2011 C4 - about £200 total from the dealer parts dept. It is the parts dept you will need and I would be surprised if they do not help since it is the loss of a sale but the service dept would fit the tyre to the wheel. To get the right parts for your car using your VIN, you need to register on the service.citroen site as an other professional, member of the Cirtoen Owners Club and you can see the parts diagrams as a free service. The wheels/tyres will be under the Mechanical sections and it will give you the options available. If you use without the filter (in left column), it will show the options over all the models. The sales brochure will also likely list all the wheel/tyre options for the various trim levels. http://service.citroen.com/do/logout from here, select the language and the inscription/ register button.
  15. Welcome to the forum. Yes, definately not normal behaviour, on any car, never mind a new one. Some of the initial steering wheel vibration could have been the wheels needing balancing which may have been sorted - but why would it need redoing after first being built, you could check the tyres to see if they are all the same - look for the manufacturer's date which will be the week number and the year such as 4013 moulded on the sidewall. The steering shake under braking could also be a problem with any of the brake discs with the runout too high or warping. The paint colour of the front end clearly is not a good match - it may suggest it has been repainted for some reason, possibly accident damage. I have seen plastic bumpers slightly different but not enough to be as bad as this and on the front it clearly stands out - how on earth they dare sell the car I do not know. Our 2011 C4 is a similar colour, shark grey and that is a good match all over the car. It makes you wonder what else could be wrong with the car and rejection may be a good option. As noted above, involve the finance company (and maybe credit card company if you used this to pay any of it).
  16. You have possibly not measured the rims correctly since the size is given on the tyres - R15 is 15 inch and R16 is 16 inch. There will be a sticker on one of the door pillars which gives the correct tyre sizes. A Citroen UK brochure from 2003 gives the steel wheels as 15 inch wheels and 205/65 R15 tyres and the alloy wheels as 16 inch wheels and 215/65 R16 tyres. A 2005 brochure for the mark 2 C5 has the tyres as 215/55/R16 with no option for 15 inch wheels. So, I would keep the 15 inch spare wheel/tyre for the spare and get new 16 inch tyres for full time use but it looks as if at some time the original tyres have been changed to lower profile 55 from 65 and unless you want to change 2 or 4 tyres for a different make, it is probably best to replace just the one with the same make - Hanook 215/55 R16. I guess you also consider using winter tyres in Denmark.
  17. You will need to buy new hub nuts (and probably hub dust covers) and depending on the year and engine size/bhp (drum size varies) of the C3 the nuts are torqued up to different amounts. You can check you have the right size socket when you get the new hub nuts. For the 2009 on model the 8 inch drum nuts are to 200 Nm and the 9 inch drum nuts are to 300 Nm and only for the 9 inch drum, the procedures say to grease the nut and thread contact faces with Total N3373 or Esso EC4746. The 2002 to 2009 model nuts are to 200 Nm (part no. 693541). Our 2010 C3 1.4 petrol 95 bhp engine has 9 inch drums, the hub nuts use a 36 mm socket and are torqued to 300 Nm and then peened to the shaft cut out. The nut part no. is 373932. You probably will also need new dust covers since they may be damaged whilst removing. The 9 inch drum nuts have a built in large washer that contacts the bearing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-PEUGEOT-NEW-STYLE-REAR-HUB-NUTS-PAIR-X2-373932-VARIOUS-MODELS-/330816555913 .The 8 inch drum hub nut is part no. 373933. When the drum is removed it helps to take a photo before removing any springs, etc.
  18. It may be worthwhile checking the bushes/bearings in the suspension arm in case at one end it is faulty. Also have a look at the wheels from the rear and see if they are leaning in at the top - also a sign of the bearings being faulty.
  19. Most cars the age of the Saxo would have rusted away to nothing by now, never mind passing MOTs with a reasonably minimum of work. Citroens seem to be amongst the best for rust proofing.
  20. If you have time, perhaps you may give a brief report on the Fiesta since it is a car that C3 owners will consider for its replacement. The 2010 C3 we now have had been a mobility car. Things sorted before collecting were a damaged wheel and wheels needing balancing but then I found an oil leak down the back of the engine (oil pump solenoid wire) and a small hole in a cv joint gaiter which should have been picked up in the dealer checks and the latter also at the MOT. Also a couple of bits under the bonnet were missing (may have been removed at a service) but it was easier just to buy and fit these myself. All these could have happened regardless of mobility but one thing a bit annoying, mobility do the MOT early so it is 3 months before the registration date, July instead of October. I only get to see the car every few weeks but so far it seems ok.
  21. Welcome to the forum. In the handbook for our 2011 C4, it says using a memory stick the tracks will play in the folders in alphabetical order. The List button can be used to set the type of order such as album, artist. However, I have never used a memory stick on it so cannot comment from experience.
  22. Welcome to the forum. I have slightly edited your post to include the info from your other similar post and deleted that one to avoid double posting/replies. It may just be a coincidence the white smoke happening just after filling up. Is the engine management fault warning light showing and apart from idling does the car run normally ? Was the fuel from a dodgy petrol station ? Thoughts are - a bad batch of diesel, may be some petrol in it and maybe water in it - you could try draining the diesel filter. - an air leak - check all the hoses around the engine for holes/splits/ loose fitting or come off. - failure of the glow plugs but they should not really be needed unless a cold day. - a fuel injector fault. - head gasket failure and the white smoke is steam from coolant entering a cylinder - check the coolant level. - turbo failure - when the one on our Saab petrol failed the car was surrounded by white smoke. - high engine oil level so it is going in to the combustion. - temperature sensor fault. - on the maf sensor - I have read that if it is unplugged the car will go in to limp mode, throw up a fault code, but if it runs better then it could be faulty. You may then have a fault code that needs erasing so may need a code reader if going to do this.
  23. I think you will probably find your cables are ok and should not need replacing. If they do the MOT will highlight it. On the C5 Technical section there are pinned posts on the brakes which are worth a read if thinking of doing any work on them. If you are new to the C5, before jacking it up the suspension should be raised to max height to avoid possible problems with the suspension - this is in the handbook somewhere. Also if you go underneath the car you should always use axle stands since if the height adjusters on the front and rear anti roll bars are knocked, the car could drop to a very low level.
  24. Best type of fix this, lots of initial worry but ends up no cost apart from the outlay for a tool you will use frequently. This link to a Rhodia safety data sheet for eolys DPX42 gives its density as 0.812 kg/litre at 15°C. So 3 litres is 2436 grammes at 15°C. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autobenex.cz%2Fcs%2Fdocument-to-download%3Fid%3D193&ei=ibQ9U_bQOcWqhAfk4ICYBw&usg=AFQjCNHuKGjzBTL6PIDmBokUsqnR350gNw&bvm=bv.64125504,d.ZG4 In the C5 Technical section Common Problems post it suggests to check the egr valve hose for splits if there are egr fault codes, and as an example I have now linked to this topic.
  25. The auto locking happens if you use the remote to unlock but if a door is not opened within about 30 seconds the doors will auto lock. Since first replying to this topic, I found in the handbook for our 2007 C5 a couple of notes on the tailgate auto locking, one being: In all cases, as soon as the vehicle is moving (at a speed above 10 km/h (6 mph)), the tailgate and the rear screen (estate version) are locked. When the vehicle stops, the tailgate and rear screen are unlocked when a door is opened or the interior locking/unlocking button is actioned. So auto locking when moving of the boot/tailgate is an anti-theft security feature of Citroens.
