  1. This is edited from the Citroen procedures to remove the roof console. For disconnecting the battery (if you think this is needed, there is a procedure in the Technical section Common Problems post that has not given odd electrical problems and may be worth following). 2. RemovingPerform the following operations :Switch off the ignitionWait 3 minutes before disconnecting the batteryDisconnect the batteryUnclip the lamp and disconnect the connectors Remove the 2 bolts now seen. Unclip the roof console in the middle back and disengage the roof console by sliding forward to release 2 clips at the back. RefittingProceed in the reverse order to removal.Reconnect the battery.Check that the electrical equipment is working correctly. For the headlining just at the front, it seems to be a case of removing the sun visors and bolts behind them and the grab handles. The lining may be glued to the roof so best not to pull it all down. The windscreen pillar trim is unclipped at the top first, then down to the bottom before releasing at the bottom.
  2. Welcome to the forum. Hopefully this is fixed by now and it was a case of plugging in the new part. If not, what year/model/engine/does it have air con/do you have the part number ?
  3. A quick look at the parts diagrams for the estate shows the rear door and tailgate windows are available as tinted and deep tinted glass. For the saloon though only one option is listed for the doors but for the rear window a tinted plus over tinted one is available - part 8744 GE . On UV protection, I thought glass cuts out UV light and not necessarily the tint.
  4. This is from a description of the mark 1 C5 air bags in the Citroen manuals so it looks as if the steering wheel airbag unit needs replacing - 3. front airbagsThe front airbag is a complement to the seat belt, designed to activate in the event of a violent front impact. Its role is to interpose itself between the front occupant(s) of the vehicle and the dashboard, to absorb their projection forward at the time of a violent frontal impact and thus to limit the risk of serious injury to head and chest. The airbags are not deployed by only a slight front impact, by a rear impact or by the vehicle overturning, as they would not be of use in these instances. The driver’s and passenger’s front airbags are of the adaptive type. The power of the front module generator is linked to the severity of the front impact. The driver’s and passenger’s front airbags have a double generator and two connectors, so there are said to be 2 deployment levels. As a result, the front airbags deploy at two levels separated by a variable delay (in the order of milliseconds) depending on the severity of the impact :In a violent impact both ignition devices are triggered, and the airbag thus deploys very rapidly to protect the driver or the passengerIn a less substantial impact, the airbag ECU decides to ignite only the first level, so the airbag deploys a little less rapidly. The second level is deployed, but with a longer delay, not in order to protect the occupant but to guard the emergency services from a random triggeringThe airbag ECU decides the triggering strategies, depending on the nature of the impact.
  5. Welcome to the forum and for your feedback on the reversing light switch. On the rear abs sensor, are you saying there is the remains of its cable hanging down at the brake hub, but the other end of the cable can not be found ? I am not sure if you have a Relay I, II or III but from the Citroen procedures for the II, it shows the sensor is just bolted to the back of the brake hub by one bolt (7 Nm) so no need to remove the brake drum or disc or wheel to remove/replace it. The connector looks as if it goes through clips and joins about the middle of under the floor near other cables/pipes, next to the connector for the other wheel abs sensor. With abs systems, if there is a fault and the abs light is on, the abs will not work although normal braking will still work.
  6. Welcome to the forum. Before getting too involved it may be worth trying a simple battery disconnection/reconnection to see if this helps. In the Technical section Common Problems post there is a procedure for this that has worked without causing other odd electrical problems. The ecu is often located next to the battery so you could see if all its connectors look dry and clean - but before disconnecting any the battery should be disconnected first. It may be worth looking on the Citroen Picasso forum, there is a link to it on the home page.
  7. Welcome to the forum. Not had to consider pinking for years but from memory pinking could be caused by - carbon build up needing a decoke - an air leak giving a weak mixture - using a low octane fuel - a faulty knock sensor - ignition timing advanced too far - high compression after skimming the cylinder head From these the easiest to try are looking for an air leak and using some of the dearer petrol which may have a higher octane value. The ignition timing as probably not adjustable. If there is a knock sensor it would probably need a diagnostic check to test it but it may cost less to buy one. There also may be benefit in checking the air filter and spark plugs do not need replacing and the spark plugs are the correct ones.
  8. If you do go for a C5, it is best to avoid the 1.6 hdi engine (not available on the 2001 to 2004 mark 1 model) since it is known for turbo failure, as you have unfortunately found. On lowish mileage it is probably ok but oil/filter changes are frequently required, so on an older car with higher miles it would probably not be a good buy. The mark 1 C5 2.0 hdi came in 90 hp and 110 hp so need to check which before buying. In the mark 2 C5 it was 138 hp. The engine codes for these different powers are in the car vin (at the bottom of the windscreen) as 90 hp RHY, 110 hp RHZ, 138 hp RHR.
  9. I can not add much to this but just to highlight from your related post the engine has not run for 6 months, so this may have some impact on advice from members. One possiblity may be to have a diagnostic check of the car using a dealer type Lexia - it may save time and replacement of parts that are not faulty. The fuel may also not be that good after 6 months - perhaps others will comment on this. Your other post http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20958-xsara-diesel-crankshaft-sensor/
  10. Welcome to the forum. There might be a French manual RTA - review technique automobile by ETAI, have a look on Amazon Uk or FR sites. These are like Haynes but in French. The Citroen service box on 3 dvds is available from such as ebay which covers all the cars - whether this will work on 64 bit I do not know. You can also register on the service.citroen site to see the parts diagrams as a free service but also purchase access to other things on a timed basis - this should give you what is on the dvds. You can register either as a professional under your business or as another professional as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Jacking points are usually on the sills, marked with a small triangle, and are obviously different to the rest of the sills lower flange. These are usually detailed in the handbook - if you do not have one, they can be read/printed from the service.citroen site without registering under documentation de bord.
  11. There was something a bit similar on a C5 rrecently and the owner put a link to a video with the sound - worth having a look for it.
  12. seefive, what tyres are on your car ?
  13. It is just a maintenance manual but if you do a separate post you may get advice from others who are more into things like bluetooth than myself.
  14. Just checked the intervals on C3/4/5 and it looks as if all engines from 7/2012 are 1 year intervals. Is this some EU initiative or maybe a need for euro 6 engines to keep them in good fettle so emissions are low ? Or maybe Citroen trying to improve their income.
  15. Welcome to the forum. Which engine is it ? I had to replace the high level brake light on our C5 estate since the old one was letting in water and then broke the lens whilst trying to dismantle it. On the new one I put some black sealant in the gap between the red lens and black plastic. I read on a caravan forum that the high level light may not be needed for the MOT and would only get an advisory in case you change your mind about replacing it.
  16. welcome to the forum. If not tappets, you could check the crankshaft pulley - some engines use one with a rubber part that deteriorates.
  17. Another option may be to replace the windows with tinted ones. We have standard tinted rear and tailgate windows on our C4 and I find they only serve to make visibility more difficult and hence not a fan of this latest design feature.
  18. Just had another look in the Maintenance guides that came with our 2007 C5 and 2011 C4 and they both give 12500 miles or 2 years for the 1.6 hdi - I always thought the 1.6 hdi was 12500 miles or 1 year, so have had our C4 serviced each year. It still would not have gone 2 years though before reaching 12500 miles. Severe service intervals for this engine are 10000 miles or 1 year. Most (but not all, depends on the car) other engines are 20000 miles or 2 years. They also define severe which includes not using approved lubricants and repeated short journeys (engine cold). The list of recommended oils (does not say approved) are all Total ones - so if you do not use these does that mean the severe intervals should be used ? And do dealers use Total oils - I thought my dealer was using Mobil ?
  19. If you are convinced it is the accelerator, you could try used parts and fit them yourself, the Haynes manual should cover it. To get the right part number using your VIN, ask a dealer parts dept or register on the service.citroen site as another professional and member of the Citroen Owners Club. The parts diagrams are a free service.
  20. If you look in the Maintenance and Warranty Guide it might have a post delivery inspection at 1000 to 1500 miles - there is one in our 2007 C5 book but in our 2011 C4 book this does not appear so maybe these are no longer required. Services are then 2 years or 20k miles or if severe, 1 year or 12k miles. I would question it, maybe their records are not correct (which could impact on the warranty) and you could also check at any Citroen dealer since the records will be on the Citroen system. On the delivery service, maybe whoever sent the letter does not realise you are 200 miles away, geography might not be part of the national curriculum now. Plus if it was honoured, you would end up with an extra 400 miles on your car and the next service due, an empty fuel tank and a 2 hour service would take 3 days. Your car may also have been thrashed for 400 miles.
  21. It should list the bulbs in the handbook but in case it does not, the RTA manual for the C5 (x7) lists H11 bulbs. I have edited the post title slightly to help future searching.
  22. This could possibly be an accelerator pedal problem, some have an electrical pedal, others a cable pedal with the electrical bits at the end of the cable - the electrical parts may wear over time. Options to check include a dealer diagnostic check or replacing it and seeing if it improves - but if it is not at fault then the dealer check may still be needed. You could try a search on our Citroen Picasso forum to see if something similar has been reported - there is a link to it on the home page.
  23. The air con blower and non air con blower have different part numbers and the air con base is pear shaped and on the other is round.
  24. This is edited from the Citroen manual for the front door cards as far as speaker removal. The rear doors are almost the same. Unclip and remove the opening handle trim and if needed disconnect the light connector and seat memorisation control connector Unclip : The grab handle trim then remove the now revealed bolts and the grab handle Unclip and remove the electric window control pad and disconnect its connectors. Unclip and remove the underneath door lamp and disconnect its connector. Unclip the door card side, middle and bottom clips and remove it, disconnecting a connector in approx the middle. CAUTION : On refitting, check the presence and positioning of 2 bits of foam on the door card (approx middle near the top). Remove the 4 bolts to detach the speaker and disconnect its connector. On refitting, if the window anti pinch needs resetting, it says to raise to max height and hold for at least 5 seconds.
  25. Welcome to the forum. A 2.7 hdi must be a powerful beast, do you use it for towing ?
