  1. On the C5 technical section there is a pinned topic of common problems to have a look at.
  2. I would be careful buying through ebay, make sure you use a recognised supplier and definately not chinese copies. Years ago I stopped buying copy brake pads having found they do not always work (stop) as well as ones from a dealer. The dealer ones may cost more but are the right parts for the car and you probably only change them once in the life of the car. If the pads need replacing then the discs may also be due for replacement - check the thickness to see if they are down to the minimum. They are an even mm thickness when new and the min is 2 mm less than when new. The new thickness depends on the model/engine so without this info I can not look up the value but when measuring with your micrometer, if they are a bit more than an even mm, they are probably due for replacement.
  3. Welcome to the forum.
  4. Welcome to the forum.
  5. Does the Berlingo have an alarm ? It might be a problem with the wiring in the steering mechanism - does the horn work normally when tested ?
  6. It should be at the gearbox end of the cylinder head in a housing. To get to it the air inlet ducting needs removing. It is held by a clip. A new seal should be used and it should be greased before fitting - probably to help fitting.
  7. I had the front springs replaced on our 2003 C3 when one failed but it was replaced without cost to us by the dealer (Citroen do this if the car is not too old). After there was a knock at one side and I found the top bearing at this side was then faulty so replaced it myself, from memory the parts were about £60. It did not need the tracking doing so I suspect you also would not have needed it doing.
  8. How old is the car, do you have a bunch of keys on the car ignition key, just in case the key is being turned slightly by the weight ? Could be a wiring fault somewhere with a bit of insulation worn off and occasionally the bare bit touching metal and shorting to earth. Maybe the ignition switch is worn and not making a good internal connection.
  9. Different Citroen cars may be different, on our C4 after the tpms alarmed due to a nail in a tyre, the alarm cleared after the repair only once the car was driven. It did not clear just by putting the wheel back and the pressure being correct and did not need any calibration. The language on the car can be changed through the radio menu so no need to use a translator.
  10. If this is not sorted yet, you could look in the handbook on how to change the rear light bulbs since this may involve removing the rear lights. Once the one (if not both) with the reversing light is removed, you may be able to work out which wire is the supply to the reverse bulb. Citroen often use the same coloured wire for different things but on them is a unique number which may need a magnifying glass to read.
  11. If you lock the doors, do they unlock using the interior door handles since you have siad the dash button or the remote do not unlock them ? It could be a problem with the central locking ecu, to check this will need to use the Citroen diagnostic tool, called the Lexia as mentioned above. On one of the C5 sections there is a pinned topic of members willing to help with diagnostics so worth a look to see if anyone is near you. Otherwise it may need a trip to a dealer.
  12. It seems as if the thermostat needs replacing. They are not too expensive despite coming complete with the thermostat housing,. We had a 2003 1.4 petrol C3 and the temperature was always 3 bars once warmed up after a couple of miles. The pipes to/from the bulkhead and cabin heater should be hot to touch, not just warm. The heater on our C3 was one of the best we have ever had on a car for lots of hot air and rapidly warmed the cabin. If you have a code reader with live data you can see what temperature the coolant is, should be about 90 to 96°C once warmed up. The fan starts at 96°C on first speed and if it continues to rise the second speed will kick in. I once checked the temperature of the bars as they lit up and the second bar lit up at 70°C and the third at 78°C so each bar covers a wide range. A quick check of the thermostat without the code reader is to see if the radiator top hose warms up as the engine warms, or waits until the engine is hot and the temp gauge is showing 3 bars. If it gradually warms then the thermostat is opening too early (or it is open all the time) and it needs replacing. The thermostat should start to open at 89°C and be full open at 101°C. The temp dropping once moving is a sign of the thermostat not closing a bit as the radiator is cooled by the flowing air - again a sign of a faulty thermostat. The level changing a bit may be a sign of air in the system since the C3 is difficult to bleed all the air out - there are 2 bleed points, one on the cylinder head and one on the heater pipes. Citroen use a raised funnel to add the coolant to help bleed the air out but I managed it using a vacuum pump on the cylinder head bleed point but it still took a couple of days before all the air was out of the cabin heater. You would normally expect the level to rise a bit as the coolant heats up and then go back down as it cools again.
  13. It is on our C5 as part of an option(s) which includes front and rear parking sensors, electrochrome rear view mirror, wiper rain sensor.
  14. This is from the Citroen service box procedures: 3. Location3.1. Location of the alarm unitThe antitheft alarm unit is fixed inside the vehicle cabin, behind the glovebox, on the engine bulkhead.3.2. Location of the sirenThe alarm siren is fixed in the front RH wheelarch.
  15. Welcome to the forum. The Citroen parts diagrams list 2 choices for the cd changer in the boot, 6564QK for one that needs configuring and 6564QL for one already configured to the vehicle VIN. It gives the Clarion part no. as 9663425180. I am surprised your dealer could not give you this. You can then use these parts nos. to search on such as ebay. There is also a topic here that may be of interest http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20334-configure-cd-changer-locally-dursleygloucesterbristol-area/
  16. I think the easiest thing will be to measure the existing battery. Also note any details on it such as Ah and the cranking amps to make sure you get a battery with at least the same values or more. Do not go for one with lower values or in cold weather it may struggle to start the car. A look on the eurocarparts website for a 1.6 hdi comes back with a 74 Ah, 680 cold cranking amps exide battery - assuming you do not have stop/start. The 60 Ah battery you have suggested may be for a petrol engine so I would carefully check what you already have. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4+Grand+Picasso_1.6_2009/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770960&1&a2828080cef9b0b6492bc1320b439eb92b71a522&000020
  17. It seems there is a problem with the forum that needs admin gteuk to fix. Unfortunately he does not come on here often and it is last September when he was last on. The moderators are unable to do anything.
  18. If you put it in reverse gear with the handbrake off and the key not in the ignition, can you push the car a bit to see if the engine rotates ? This could be a quick check to see if the cam belt is still in place. Do this on the flat and not on a hill so there is no chance of it running away. You can remove the cam belt top cover by undoing 2 bolts so if needed it can be inspected without too much bother.
  19. There is a recall on C4, DS4 bonnets since it is possible the bonnet can corrode where the hook joins the bonnet and if not treated could result in the bonnet flying open. I have copied this from the Common Problems topic: 10. Corrosion of the bonnet. This has been reported by scimitargtc on his 2012 C4. Corrosion of the aluminium bonnet possibly due to a steel frame. The dealer has seen a few of these and there are many cases on the internet. One to check for the C5 which also has an aluminium bonnet. http://www.citroen-o...ity-2012-model/ After 3 years 9 months a 1cm long paint bubble appeared on our 2011 C4 bonnet at the front at the V. The defect warranty for paint is 3 years but we still reported it to our dealer. The bonnet frame is not mild steel since a magnet does not stick to it. Our dealer put in a claim to Citroen and fortunately Citroen paid for a new bonnet to be fitted at a cost to Citroen of around £900. We were told only repairing the paint would not last since the problem is a defect with the metal. There is a recall on the bonnets which affected our 2015 C4 so may apply to all of the 2010 on model C4. We found out when it went for its second annual service at the Citroen dealer, they had not contacted us. First the bonnet is inspected in the area of the hook and then the bonnet is either replaced or if not corroded it involves putting grease filled stickers around the hook on the bonnet where it joins the bonnet. This is to prevent corrosion if the paintwork splits. The dealer said about 3% of bonnets recalled have been replaced so it is hoped the stickers will prevent too many needing to be replaced. At a guess, if not done and it corrodes, the hook could come off and the bonnet fly open. A search came up with this from the driver and vehicle standards agency https://www.dft.gov....ank&tx=0.684669
  20. We had the bonnet recall done today. It involves putting grease filled stickers around the hook on the bonnet where it joins the bonnet. This is to prevent corrosion if the paintwork splits. The dealer said about 3% of bonnets recalled have been replaced so it is hoped the stickers will prevent too many needing to be replaced. At a guess, if not done and it corrodes, the hook could come off and the bonnet fly open.
  21. Which engine does it have - petrol, diesel, engine size, automatic or manual gear box ? Does the key you are using have the immobiliser chip in it ? Is there fuel in the tank and how long is it since the car last ran ? If the starter is turning and not engaging with the flywheel ring gear, then possibly a tooth is missing from the ring gear or is damaged. Our previous 2003 C3 1.4 petrol would occasionally do this but not every time so I lived with it. If you do take the car to a garage I would use a Citroen dealer, they will be familiar with your car and if it needs a diagnostic check they will have the right equipment.
  22. If you do not have the handbook ones from 2008 can be seen on the service.citroen site. http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ It is possible the 2008 may still apply to your car, if so it gives the radio fuse as being in the dash and being fuse F8 and 20 amp. F8 20 A Displays - Alarm - Radio - CD changer - Diesel fuel additive system - Deflation detection - Sliding side door
  23. If running the engine with the MAF unplugged made no difference, then this could be a sign the MAF is faulty or the car is already in limp mode before the MAF is unplugged. Since the MAF has been unplugged you will have stored fault codes from that. If possble the codes should be read and then deleted and then read again after running the engine.
  24. Thanks for getting back to us. 6 to 8 years seems to be about the limit for battery life, any longer is a bonus. On stop/start cars it might be a lot less but these batteries are twice the cost of normal lead/acid ones.
  25. Which engine does it have - petrol, diesel, engine size, automatic or manual gear box ? Does the key you are using have the immobiliser chip in it ? Is there fuel in the tank and how long is it since the car last ran ? When you turn the key to start the car, can you hear the starter motor turning the engine or does it just make a clicking sound or nothing at all ? If it just makes a clicking sound it is probably the starter motor that is faulty or possibly the wiring from the battery to the starter motor or the earth wire to the gearbox from the body. It is also possible the battery voltage is low but you have said that is not the case. A charged battery will be about 12.7 volts, a flat battery about 12.3 volts or less. If it is making a whirring noise but not engaging the flywheel ring gear to turn over the engine, then again it could be a fault with the starter motor. The red battery light coming on when the door is opened just means the car is in eco mode and that will go once the engine is started, so nothing to be bothered about.
