  1. A battery lasting 8 years is good going so it is due for replacement. Last couple I have bought were Exide ones from eurocarparts. Not the cheapest place but with a 4 year guarantee it is possibly easier to go back to them.
  2. On Citroens the radio is coded to the ecu as a theft prevention measure. Your existing radio will need coding to the replacement ecu so it will work properly or obtain the radio from the car that the ecu came from. I think you will also be using the keys from the donor car so the imobiliser works. As Rookie2 has said, you need a diagnostic using a Lexia to configure the ecu to match your car and get the abs and electric windows to work and to match your radio to it. I suspect the ecu/bsi have come from a more basic C3 than yours which might also mean the bsi will not be able to handle the abs/electric windows even if it is configured. If the abs can not be got to work, you will need to tell your insurance company since a safety feature on which they have based the insurance does not work. Something else you may have noticed, the car mileage may have changed since the car will adopt the higher of the speedo or bsi when one is changed. If so you will need to explain this to your insurance company if it takes you over your annual mileage limit. So if this does not go well, then some friend.
  3. Welcome to the forum. I would contact your insurer to get it repaired. It may be covered as a glass breakage so the excess may not be as much as if you make a claim for damage. If you do not wish to use your insurance then ask at a Citroen dealer for the cost to repair.
  4. Did you try a new bulb or was it just the visual, flick test and the meter ? Looking at a wiring diagram in the RTA manual for the C5 (X7), the front indicators are supplied from the engine fuse box whereas the rear ones are from the bsi fuse box. The 2 rear indicators are supplied by separate wires from the bsi so it is unlikely to be a wiring problem nor an earth problem since the other rear lights work. The RTA manual is in French but can be worth getting and there is the Citroen service box manual/parts and wiring diagrams which is even better - it can be bought on 3 dvds through ebay. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Rta-B737-Citro%C3%ABn-C5-Hdi-Depuis-2008/2726873758 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/citroen-service-box-09-2012-workshop-service-manual-multilanguage-tis-epc-wds-/261925511694 there is a 2014 version but this shows you what it is like. Later versions than 2014 do not seem to be available so probably the dealers use an on-line only version.
  5. On the one you are buying, get somebody else to start it and look at the exhaust to see if there is a cloud of blue smoke - if so it is a sign the turbo could be on its way out. Similarly when the van is accelerating.
  6. Your car looks impressive. Is it the original colour ?
  7. It is the 2.0 hdi 6 speed auto C5 X7.
  8. Do all the other rear lights work and have you checked the bulbs ?
  9. Welcome to the forum. It is surprising a Citroen dealer could not find anything wrong, maybe you need to try another one. The rear suspension dropping overnight could be a sign of one of the struts leaking internally. If the suspension did not go up at all it could be a sign the rear height sensor arm had broken since this is a common thing and a new arm is available from Citroen at low cost. Or maybe a problem with the valves in the pump but you could check the pump electrical connector is fastened on fully. You could also check the suspension lds fluid level. With the suspension at the low height and the ignition key removed, remove the lds tank cap and the level should be just at the bottom of the filler neck strainer. If you do go under the car use axle stands since if a height sensor is caught the suspension can quickly drop to a very low level. Before jacking the car up the suspension should be raised to the max height, this avoids possible suspension problems and is usually noted somewhere in the handbook.
  10. Could you put the fault codes on here since it may help. How many miles has the car done ? I have put your car details on your signature to save you needing to mention it every time you start a new topic. If these are not correct you can edit them by going to your profile.
  11. Welcome to the forum.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Was the new lambda sensor from a Citroen dealer ? If not, copy parts often do not work as well as the correct ones which could explain the P0132/135 codes. You should also check its wiring and connector. Something that should be done on petrol cars is the throttle body and plate need cleaning at each service to remove any carbon build up. This can be using carb cleaner or a cloth damp with turps/white spirit. This carbon build up can affect the idle speed since it can cause the throttle plate to stick and reduce the air gap when the plate is closed. I am guessing the U1213 is a fault with the tyre pressure monitoring system - maybe one of the detectors is not working.
  13. According to the Haynes manual for the C3, the exhaust front pipe/catalyst needs removing (at the manifold flange joint and 2 bolt joint to the back section), the sump bolts and nuts removing and then the sump (may need to be tapped a bit), a wiring loom may need moving. For the 1.4 petrol it says that sealant is used on the sump and not a gasket - this is only on the 1.6 petrol. The sump bolts and nuts are tightened to 8 Nm and the sump drain plug 30 Nm (use a new washer, they are less than £1 from a Citroen dealer). It the rust has not gone all the way through the sump you could always paint it. It would save the cost of the oil/filter change unless one is due and the cost of sealant and the sump and the exhaust manifold and down pipe joints. The nuts on the exhaust down pipe/catalyst to back section joint are a locking type and you may need new ones as well as a new joint. At the manifold flange joint you will need a new gasket.
  14. A belated welcome to the forum, I see you have been on here for 3 years so I hope you have found some useful info. Coastline taxis in South Shields use C5s and Steve from there is often on this forum, but has not been on for a week or so. Perhaps you could contact them to see if they are interested. What year/mileage are the C5s ?
  15. You appear to be doing the right things but I do not know why the comfort menu has gone. Are you accessing it by using the steering wheel button as on page 23 in the handbook ? This is from p64 of the handbook: Selective unlocking using the remote control ï† Press the open padlock once to unlock the driver’s door only. ï† Press the open padlock again to unlock the other doors and the boot. According to version, the exterior mirrors unfold at the same time as the fi rst unlocking action. The complete or selective unlocking parameter is set via the instrument panel screen confi guration menu (see "Instruments and controls" section). Complete unlocking is activated by default. Selective unlocking is not possible using the key. Each unlocking is confi rmed by rapid fl ashing of the direction indicators for approximately two seconds and by switching on of the courtesy lamp. From page 24 of the handbook it does say the unlocking is from the Comfort menu: "Comfort" menu Once you have selected this menu, you can: ï† Activate/deactivate the driver's welcome lighting function. ï† Select the unlocking of all the doors or just the driver's door. Activate/deactivate the automatic engaging of the electric parking brake.
  16. If you do need to replace the pulley I would get a copy of the Haynes manual which shows how to do it. According to the Haynes manual, the wheel arch liner needs to be removed, the alternator drive belt needs removing, there are 2 types of crank shaft pulley - if the pulley has green paint on it the engine needs locking (cam shaft and crank shaft) to maintain the timing but if no green paint it does not, lock the flywheel so the pulley bolt can be undone and then the pulley removed. Loctite should be used on the pulley bolt when refitting and then tighten it - green paint one to 70 Nm then a further 82°, no green paint to 50 Nm and then a further 51°. The drive belt will need the tension setting.
  17. Welcome to the forum. A quick look on ebay searching for 2.2 hdi engine came up with this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252779463802?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=13585920426&rlsatarget=pla-75952154106&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=1006876&device=c&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0 For alternative engines, I can not help much other than point you at the parts diagrams to see which parts are common for the different engines and which other parts you may need for a different engine to fit - you could also look at other cars with your engine. As well as the engine you might need the ecu - if so you might also need the bsi/keys for the imobiliser and the radio to match the ecu. Register on service.citroen as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site select your vehicle but you can use your VIN (VIS) top left to find yours. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres - you may need to select your language first.
  18. Welcome to the forum. You could check the crank shaft pulley. Some of them have a rubber insert that breaks up and can give a tapping noise.
  19. Looks as if the radio needs a repair rather than a software fix http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/audio-sound-multimedia-8/807-rneg-system-check-progress-23156/ You could visit a Citroen dealer to get this confirmed.
  20. Brilliant, I would never have guessed the rain sensor could cause this. When it gets dark again, you can see if the auto headlights work, or just cover the rain sensor to fool it into thinking it is dark.
  21. I think in the handbook for the electric handbrake it mentions it does not work if the battery voltage is low, so something to be aware of. On the bonnet, it is aluminium so it should not rust - you can check it with a magnet which will only stick to steel. You could try a Citroen dealer to see if it can be replaced. The original problem was supposed to be a bad batch of bonnets that were not treated properly so the paint would bubble - on ours it did it at the V at the front. There seems to be another problem with the bonnets, our 2015 C4 was serviced today and there is a recall and something can split. The receptionist was not sure of the details but something has been ordered to stick on the bonnet but ours has not yet split, whatever that is. It can not be a safety recall since we only found out about it by taking it to be serviced at a Citroen dealer. If you get a used Citroen radio it will not work properly in your car unless it is coded to your car by a diagnostic. I do not think the foam needs removing to do the pollen filter, just a short section of the fibre panel at the driver's end of the bulkhead.
  22. 1. Our C4 does not make a rasping sound and is fairly quiet. We had a 2011 model and there was a vibration which the dealer fixed by using a tie wrap on the engine air intake nozzle so it did not move about as much. Maybe there is an air leak somewhere. 2. In the corners of the bonnet/scuttle you need to make sure there is no build up of leaves or other debris, maybe the previous owner has moved the foam to do this. Check the bonnet for any paint bubbling since the Citroen fix is a new bonnet under warranty. 3. Never tried different pedals - if you do then the insurer will need to be told since it will be a modification and if you did not tell them they may not pay out. 4. If you replace the radio with another Citroen one it might need coding to the car. If a non Citroen one some of the features on the car may not work such as steering wheel controls and the car may not recognise the new one. Our 2015 C5 has a dab radio and the fascia is just like on your car. 5. Never tried an electric handbrake but the thought of one would put me off. Also gives problems if you need to work on the rear brakes.
  23. Welcome to the forum.
  24. I do not really think a manual will help, these will just say how to remove and refit the motor and you already know how to do that. I suspect you need a new motor or to clean out the existing one - you have already said it was seized so this must be a sign it is not right. The rain sensor also puts on the headlights as it gets dark, so if it had a problem the lights would also not work properly. Having said this, you could check the wiring to the motor and see if any are shorting to earth.
  25. Is it just the brake light that comes on ? If you have cruise control then possibly some of the wires on the switch are for that, but I am not sure. For a faulty switch to be able to put on one light you would expect it to also put on the other side if the brake pedal is pressed with the ignition key removed but all our cars need the key in and turned so the dash lights up (or engine runs) before the brake lights work. In the Haynes manual for the C5 the brake lights have their supplies from the bsi fuse box with 2 wires - 1 feeds the left and high level brake lights and a second feeds the right brake light. However, these 2 wires join at the fuse box. If your van is similar then you would expect all the brake lights to behave the same, unless possibly it is a bulb or earthing or bulb holder problem at the right side - but you have checked these already.
