2004 C5 Central Locking Problem When Car In Eco Mode
paul.h replied to tom_fun's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
You will need a code reader that does air bags, most low cost ones do not do this, only engine codes. Where are you, on one of the C5 sections there is a pinned topic of members who are able to help with diagnostic checks and you could try a message if any are not too far away. If you do go somewhere for a diagnostic check and the Citroen equipment is used (Lexia) it should also find the problem with the locking. -
What year is the C5 and the engine power - 136 or 173 bhp ?
-
Looks as if you will need to go back to the dealer and get their service department to do a diagnostic check. There may be a setting that needs to be changed so it does not keep going back to default values. Show the service people the handbook so they know it is not right.

It could be the suspension has a leak, a common problem which should be fixed by Citroen http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21543-watchdog-questions-citroen-about-c4-suspension-issue/?do=findComment&comment=78910

Welcome to the forum. On all our Citroens the parcel shelf cords clip on to lugs near the top of the plastic trims at the side of the glass in the tailgate.

Welcome to the forum. The air bag fault may be related to the comms unit but just in case it is not you may need to read the air bag fault code but this may be needed anyway to delete the code/turn off the air bag light. Using your VIN in the parts diagrams it comes back as a 1.8 petrol 2004 year. The comms unit under the steering wheel against this VIN is Citroen part no. 6239AV and replacement part no. 6242C3. New examples from ebay but you may be able to find one from a breakers for a lot less - £200 new Citroen part http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INDICATOR-LIGHT-WIPER-STALK-SWITCH-FOR-CITROEN-XSARA-C8-XSARA-PICASSO-6242C3-/221104434887 - new £175 Citroen part http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-CITROEN-C8-XSARA-PICASSO-INDICATOR-LIGHT-WIPER-STALK-SWITCH-6242C3-/252022811564 If you want to look at the Citroen parts diagrams this is a free service if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp You may need to select your language but once on the diagrams use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. The comms unit can be found under Electric Unit then under several sections under Controls under the steering wheel.

The early mark 3 C5 with the 2.2 hdi engine also has the hydractive suspension but the official fuel economy is not as good as the 2.0 hdi.

2004 C5 Central Locking Problem When Car In Eco Mode
paul.h replied to tom_fun's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
You might need to get the air bag fault read by a code reader since possibly there is a common cause affecting the air bag and locking. Have you also tried the spare remote in case the battery in it is flat ? Whilst the air bag light is on the air bag system may not work when needed so could affect your insurance. -
When changing the memorised speeds have you followed the procedure in your handbook ? Our C4 handbook has the procedure on page 155 and using the radio is as follows (I think the engine may need to be running but the car parked): - Press MENU button - select the Personalisation-configuration menu and confirm (use OK button) - select Vehicle parameters menu and confirm - select the Driving assistance line and confirm - select Speeds memorised line and confirm - modify the speed (probably done using the arrow buttons) - select OK and confirm to save the modifications (must mean to use OK button twice)

So from above, I am guessing your car is a saloon and you want the chrome strip that is on the top of the bumper since the parts diagrams do not show anything on the boot lid - if not please advise. If so the part no. is 7452WG but a search did not find any so it is going to be a dealer only part. There is nothing shown for the tourer bumper. As an alternative ebay has bumper protector strips in stainless steel but at around £50 they are probably similar to the original chrome strip.

There is a lug top and bottom of the sensors that locates in clips on the bumper. The sensors may all be part no. 6590QS (front and back sensors) and in this link you can see one of the small lugs at the bottom of the sensor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-New-Citroen-C4-DS5-Peugeot-208-Reverse-Parking-Sensor-6590QS-/252137188710 On our 2007 C5 you can access the rear sensors without removing the bumper but if you need to remove the DS5 one then from Citroens procedures first you may need to remove 2 covers under the back of the car (these alone may allow you to look at the sensors) and then on the bumper there are 4 clips to remove at the lower edge, a bolt at each side from the wheel arch and then it needs unclipping at the wheel arches and the top edge. At the wheel arches you may need to part/fully remove the wheel arch liners to get at the fasteners.

You will need to remind us, is your car a 2004 to 2008 or 2008 on C5 and then is it a hatchback/estate/saloon/tourer.

Still No Start! New Fuel Pump, Coil Pack And Plugs
paul.h replied to Juddy07's topic in C4 - Technical
For the 2.0i 180 bhp the crank sensor may be part no. 1920EN and at about £17 is worth replacing if only to eliminate the crank sensor as a possible fault http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLYWHEEL-CAMSHAFT-SENSOR-FOR-CITROEN-BERLINGO-1920EN-/330540371682 I would check the part no. though using your car VIN. -
Welcome to the forum. You may be better using the Citroen part number rather than the manufacturer's number on the pump. Use your car VIN and the scrap car VIN in the parts diagrams on http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp You may need to select your language and then register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club, then use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. The abs block part numbers all start 4541 and then 2 letters/numbers but there seem to be many different ones depending on the car. Did Citroen give you the fault code when checking your abs problem ?

Welcome to the forum. Did the dealer check the light height using a beam setter or just fob you off ? In Citroen's service box procedures there is a bit of confusion since under the adjustment it says it can be done using 2 screws on the back of the lights - but this may refer to normal halogen headlights unless all DS5s have xenons. It also has under xenon bulb replacement that they should be adjusted using diagnostic equipment. Hence they can be adjusted but which method is needed is not clear.

If the squeal is from the back it is a classic sign of the corrosion problem. On our first C5 I tried just cleaning up the brake pads but this did not stop the noise until I later removed the corrosion. At nearly 10 years old I would think the corrosion will have been removed before but it really needs to be done every couple of years. This topic is worth a read before you do the rear brakes http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/6881-removal-of-rear-brake-calipers-pad-replacement-c5-to-2008/

The Haynes manual says access to the egr valve bolts is tight from above and below and suggests removing the engine or the subframe. However, Citroen' procedures do not say this. The procedures are for removing the egr and cooler or connecting pipe so it may be possible to just remove the egr valve. If there is a cooler then drain the coolant, remove the air filter and MAF, disconnect the coolant hoses, remove the egr valve lower nut from underneath and the upper nut from above, remove the bolts at the manifold end, undo the egr valve actuator hose then lift out the egr valve/pipe or cooler, undo the egr valve/pipe or cooler connecting collar. Replace any seals.

Cooling System Bleed Screws 2006 2.0 Hdi Dispatch
paul.h replied to Pratchy's topic in Dispatch - Technical
Often thermostats have the opening temperature stamped on them and in the parts diagrams they seem to be 83C so you would expect the sensor to be a few degrees higher - maybe the connector pins are a bit dirty giving a bit of resistance which is seen as a cooler engine. If you have access to a code reader that also gives live data you could see what value the sensor is giving rather than relying on the gauge. -
Are the brake discs a bit rusty or is the handbrake stuck on or other brakes sticking or is there a stone stuck between a brake back plate and a disc ? If the noise is from the back corrosion occurs between the brake calipers and suspension arm which pushes the calipers out and they can touch the wheel rims.

C5 2001 Stop, Abs And Brake Dash Lights On All The Time
paul.h replied to softers's topic in C5 - Technical
Look at this topic, it appears the fault is not a coincidence and C1350 is an abs fault code http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=818838 If you do not like the C5 then you would be best to get rid of it (sell or scrap) rather than spending any money on it since to fix this fault may be more than the car is worth, despite its low mileage. -
A 2010 sales brochure lists an electric slide/tilt sunroof as an option on the saloon vtr+Nav and exclusive and on the tourer the panoramic glass sunroof is an option on the vtr+Nav and exclusive. Do you definitely need a sunroof, if you can not find a car with one then there will be companies that could fit one. Welcome to the forum Lenny. Have a look at the C5 Technical section pinned Common Problems topic to see what can go wrong with the mark 3 C5 (X7) since some are expensive to fix such as steering rack oil leaks, front wiper motors failing.

Still No Start! New Fuel Pump, Coil Pack And Plugs
paul.h replied to Juddy07's topic in C4 - Technical
Welcome to the forum. What year is the car and what power output is the engine ? Maybe it is an immobiliser problem and the key is not being recognised. You could try the spare key. Failing this the lowest cost option instead of replacing more parts, may be to have a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer or other specialist with the correct Lexia diagnostic equipment. If the engine management light has not come on, then one fault that would not bring this up but can prevent the engine starting is a failed crankshaft position sensor and this may be located at the top/front of the clutch housing or at the bottom if a vti engine. I do not know what the buzzing noise can be but it may be relevant. -
Cooling System Bleed Screws 2006 2.0 Hdi Dispatch
paul.h replied to Pratchy's topic in Dispatch - Technical
Welcome to the forum. Looking at the parts diagrams it appears there is only the bleed screw on the thermostat housing. On other Citroens there is often a second bleed screw on the coolant pipe from the cabin heater matrix at the back of the engine bay. You close the bleed screws separately when coolant starts to come out of each one without any air. The bleed screws can also be opened again once the system is filled in case more air needs removing. -
A search indicates in China they drive on the right side of the road so maybe importing a Chinese C5 may not be straight forward. To preserve your C5 maybe you also need a small runabout car like a C4. Most of our miles are done in our C4 and our 2007 C5 is used mainly when a large car is needed (caravan towing, lots of things to move). Partly due to fuel economy but also to preserve the C5, it is only on 23k miles, averaging about 3k a year whereas the C4 is about 11k a year.

C5 2001 Stop, Abs And Brake Dash Lights On All The Time
paul.h replied to softers's topic in C5 - Technical
Welcome to the forum. I think you are going to need a diagnostic check with a code reader that can look at the abs system, possibly one of the abs wheel sensors or targets is faulty or needs cleaning or maybe the abs valve block/pump is faulty. If the usual garage has suitable equipment then you could go there, otherwise you will need a Citroen dealer or specialist. Are the brakes working normally and stopping the car since with the abs lamp on the abs system may not work but the manual side of the brakes should work as normal. When the garage turned off the eml did they give you the fault codes so you know what that problem was ? When you topped up the brake fluid, had the level fallen or was this to see if that was the fault ?
