Welcome to the forum. Maybe you could try using the key in the door lock a few times in case the lock has stuck. Does the problem occur if you use the spare key and keep the remote one well away from the car (in case it is a problem with the remote lock button sticking on) ? If it is water in the electrics it may go once it dries out. You could try a bsi reset in case it is an odd glitch that can be cleared. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15093-bsi-reset/ If these do not work it may need a trip to a dealer to do a diagnostic check to find the fault.

New Car Had It 1 Week And Probs - C5 Tourer 2.2 Hdi
paul.h replied to chrisgun80's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Welcome to the forum. Once you have the problems fixed you will enjoy your car and apart from a few common problems Citroens are usually reliable. C5s have a number of common problems and there is a topic worth looking at http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20279-common-problems-rev-2012016/ but most of these are for the 2001 to 2008 model, not the 2008 on mark 3 C5 (X7). The suspension problem could be the height sensors may be sticking and need freeing off by taking the suspension up and down quite a few times. The links on them can also break but then the suspension would stay down at one end. The suspension and power steering share the same fluid tank and this should only be topped up using Total LDS fluid which is an orange colour. If the level is low due to the steering leak this will affect the suspension. To check the level the suspension should be put in the lowest position, then switch off the engine and slacken the lds tank cap. Some pressure will be released and then it can be fully removed. The level should be just at the bottom of the tank neck strainer. Failure of the seals on the steering rack are a common problem needing the rack to be replaced. The column input shaft seal fails, possibly due to rust build up on the shaft. The pipe connections to the rack can leak but new seals are not available without the pipes. All these are expensive so make the most of any warranty. The front wiper motors can fail due to water ingress - there are 2 motors, one for each side. Again these are expensive. Check the battery voltage since if low this can give odd electrical problems including the electric parking brake not working (this will be in the handbook somewhere). Before starting the engine it should be about 12.5 volts or a bit higher. Considering the battery may be 7 years old it is due for replacement. -
Sat Nav Problem Navidrive C5, 2009
paul.h replied to kevcwtch's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Next things to try are to check the car battery voltage since if low it can give odd problems on C5s. Before starting the engine it should be about 12.5 volts or a bit higher. If this is ok then try a battery disconnection but do not do it too quickly since the bsi needs time to shutdown. Below is from the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic. If this does not help there is a pinned topic on the C5 Technical section for a bsi reset which might help. If you look at the common problems topic there are a few things to check on your car such as the steering rack for oil leaks. 16. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3). The following topic on poor radio and gps reception is worth a look http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23377-poor-radio-and-gps-reception-antennaaerial-problem/ -
Does the eml lamp come on when the key is turned in the ignition until the engine is running to show the lamp is ok ? I would check the sensor you have removed and the new one with a meter for resistance across the pins to see if they are showing a fault. If not faulty then the problem may be a bad connection or a wiring problem. If you have not yet cleared the fault code you could look at the freeze frame data stored when the fault code was created since this may also give a clue as to the problem. This is from the C3 Common Problems topic: 25. Camshaft position sensor failure - 2010 C3, 1.4 VTI petrol. This happened on our C3, 15k miles. The engine management light came on, anti pollution message, went in to limp mode so the performance was poor. Fault codes were read as P0341, 0342, 0343 camshaft position sensor A bank 1 or single sensor range, low, high. Both the inlet and exhaust sensors were replaced as I thought if one has failed the other may not be too far behind. On checking, the inlet one gave a resistance measurement between all of the 3 pins and the new and exhaust only did on 2 pins. £47 for 2 sensors, they come with new O-ring seals.

Sat Nav Problem Navidrive C5, 2009
paul.h replied to kevcwtch's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Welcome to the forum. In the Navidrive book that came with our 2007 C5, on page 10 there is a footnote - If your Navidrive should malfunction, press for at least 10 seconds on the DARK button to re-initialise the system. -
Rear Fog Lamps Dispatch 1.6Hdi Enterprise 2012
paul.h replied to optickleerjs's topic in Dispatch - Technical
Another thought when checking, if you have front fog lights, the fog light switch has to be turned a second time for the rear ones to come on. -
I would send a message to coastline taxis to see what damage may have occurred, I am sure he will have come across this many times. If the belt had been replaced at a Citroen dealer they will have a record of it you could check and it would be marked on the Maintenance and Guarantee guide, plus if done there or by another garage there would be a receipt for the work. Some/most owners who do their own maintenance also keep receipts for parts they fit to back up their maintenance records. If the belt and other bits had indeed been replaced but using aftermarket parts, they may not have the same life as ones from a Citroen dealer. In such cases the replacement interval would need to be adjusted since it may not be the Citroen 10 years or 160k miles if earlier (taken from a 2006 Maintenance and Guarantee Guide for normal service, 108k miles for severe service). Years ago timing belt replacement intervals were typically 40k miles or 4 years but Citroen's extended intervals are based on improvements to the belts but these improvements may not have been made to aftermarket ones.

Welcome to the forum. If jacking the car up to remove a wheel, in the handbook somewhere it says to first raise the suspension to max height and then switch off the engine. If this is not done there can be problems with the suspension later. I have done this many times and had no problems. I would imagine if the car is on a lift with the wheels hanging the same would apply. It would not harm to slacken the lds tank cap to release the air pressure once the suspension is raised and the engine switched off but do not remove it completely to avoid any dirt getting in. Then once the car is back on the ground and lowered to normal height the cap can be tightened. The tank will build up pressure on its own without needing any intervention. On the mark 3 C5 2008 on model, Citroen's procedures say to slacken the tank cap before raising on a lift if the wheels are to be left hanging. There was a recent topic where this was not done and the lds tank split. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23422-c5-30-exclusive-hdi-steering-pump-reservoir-explosion/

I can not help with the gearbox but I have changed the topic title to include the gearbox since this may gain replies from other members.

The only time I got over 60 mpg over a long distance (about 300 miles) on our mark 1 2.2 hdi was after accidentally filling up with Shell super diesel (or whatever it was called) but a few days later I found the swirl valve actuator plastic cup connector had broken off. It had not been accelerating as well so was a sign something was not right but once replaced the economy went back down to normal.

Welcome to the forum. What fault code did you get and do you have the pressure values from the freeze frame data when the fault code was generated ? If not the regulator then it could be the pressure sensor that is faulty.

Rear Fog Lamps Dispatch 1.6Hdi Enterprise 2012
paul.h replied to optickleerjs's topic in Dispatch - Technical
If you still have your 3 year Citroen guarantee then I would get the Citroen dealer to check this since it could be a switch fault with the dash not lighting up. As well as the lights to be on when checking the engine also needs to be running. A quick look in a handbook does not list a relevant fuse so if it is not the switch then it could be a wiring fault. You would need to check the wires from the rear lamps all the way back to the fuse box. -
Welcome to the forum. It would be far easier and with less chance of breaking the glass if you replaced the complete hatch door with one the right colour from a scrap yard. I am sure this would still be a lot less than the cost you have given for the window on its own.

Also have a look at the clutch pedal push rod that goes in to the master cylinder and also the slave cylinder at the gearbox and check for any leaks. You have not given any info on your car but the seals on these can wear out.

Somebody on the C5 section has just posted their 2.0hdi C5 hesitates when 3000 rpm is reached. One thought was the fuel filter may be due a change. When was it last changed on your C4 ?
-
When was the fuel filter last changed, just in case it is blocking up ?

Welcome to the forum. It is probably the leak back hose, Citroen part no. 95050399 but you should check this at your Citroen dealer when ordering (unlikely to have it in stock). You will also need the clip 96127591. It can be seen about half way down the strut and is held in place with a clip that goes round the strut. This part only has 1 hose coming out of it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-C5-Frt-Suspension-Leg-Leak-Off-Hose-clip-New-Gen-Cit-95050399-96127591-/172052890663

It could be a bad batch of diesel and you could try a different supplier to see if it goes away. Things that can put the anti pollution message up can include the following but a code reader is needed to see which one. Otherwise you could replace lots of parts hoping to find the faulty one before wasting too much money. - blocked exhaust dpf - exhaust catalyst failing - exhaust lambda sensor fault - cam shaft sensor fault - fuel pressure fault - fuel filter blocked - air flow sensor fault - fuel injector fault - air leak - egr valve fault

Check the Haynes manual but it should be 2 litres if drained out or less if only the amount lost by removing the drive shafts. Recommended oil is Total transmission BV, 75w80, Citroen part no. 9730A2. You might need a new seal for the drain plug (if undone) and the level/filling plug.

The fob may need to be initialised to the car which should be done anyway when its battery is changed. The procedure is in the handbook under remote fob battery change and is something like put the key in the ignition and press and hold down the fob lock button until the doors lock.
-
Sounds as if the clutch is slipping, it could be worn out and need replacing. How many miles has it done ?
-
The 1.4 petrol 8 v I think is 75 bhp. Dirty hydraulic fluid probably would not cause the clutch to slip unless the slave cylinder was sticking due to dirt so the clutch did not fully release, it is more likely the clutch has worn out. Changing the fluid though will help smooth clutch changes but it should be changed when the brake fluid is changed every 2 years. The bsi (boitier de servitude intelligent) is the cabin fusebox and is effectively the car's computer.
-
The anti pollution message just means there is a fault that can affect the exhaust emissions and it could be anything. The engine management light should be on unless the fault has cleared and the car may be put in limp mode reducing the performance so the emissions are not too bad. As John says, the lowest cost way to find out what is wrong is to use a code reader. If you do not have access to one, then it is cheaper to buy one than pay for a garage diagnostic check. On the 2008 on C5 I believe the 16 pin connector for a code reader is in the compartment between the front seats. An example of a code reader that also gives some engine live data which can also help to diagnose a fault https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html

Citroen Saxo Clutch Replacement.
paul.h replied to Mark Heyes's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
To help line up you might consider long threaded rods to fit in the engine block through the bellhousing and then slide the box back. Places like Toolstation are cheap for threaded rod. I do not know what thread size you need but 1 m of M12 is only £2.58 http://www.toolstation.com/search?searchstr=56775%2069124%2086206%2026973 -
Welcome to the forum. Is your car a petrol or diesel and what bhp is it ? The high biting point is normal and after a few drives you should get used to it but the hydraulic fluid should be changed every 2 years as part of the brake fluid change and this may help. I have not replaced a clutch on a C3 but Haynes manuals are usually good enough to follow. It is possible the original clutch may be a Valeo one since some of the parts lists mention Valeo. Do not disconnect the battery too quickly, the bsi needs time to shut down. There is a procedure in the C3 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic.
