  1. that's it mate it does the clean out all by its self and you should see some black soot from the rear ( not like the older cars when all you did was boot it ) these systems Are fully computer controlled sad it is
  2. 2 replies to your question, 1/. when you say AUTO is it the automatic tranny light 2/. is it the engine warning light. in both cases the is a fault and it needs scanning for fault codes
  3. ive heard some crazy stuff on this ELOY stuff and expensive ( red X ) type stuff to clean the system but injects itself to the amount of fuel you have in the tank ive heard of people filling that tank with fuel diesel/petrol what ever your car runs on, perhaps others have had these ideas and tried them out? it could be a cash saver :)
  4. this is a how to change it when you need to N.B. : Replacing the particle filter does not require the prior removal of the catalytic converter/particle filter assembly . URGENT : Observe the specifications described in the technical documentation . 1. Container size URGENT : Do not throw away the packaging of the particle filter provided by Replacement Parts . URGENT : Use this packaging to return the replaced component . Figure : b1jk062d Figure : b1jk062d Apply the plugs and cover from the new particle filter to the ends and aperture (A) of the pressure take-off . Place the particle filter in the saved bag . Place the used particle filter in the original packaging . Return the component to the reconditioning centre . 2. Removing Figure : b1jk063d Figure : b1jk063d Remove the rear collar (1) . Uncouple the rear pressure take-off pipe (2) at the collar . Remove the 4 nuts (3) . Disconnect the particle filter from the catalytic converter . Figure : b1jk064d Figure : b1jk064d Remove the seal (4) . Save the rear pressure take-off union (2) from the removed particle filter . 3. Refitting URGENT : Clean the contact faces of the seal, systematically replace the collar (1) and the seal (4) . CAUTION : When refitting the seal (4), check the positioning of the particle filter in relation to the catalytic converter, by aligning the pressure take-off pipes . Figure : b1jk065d Figure : b1jk065d Place the bolts and nuts (3) without tightening them . Align the brackets of the particle filter and the catalytic converter . Couple the rear pressure take-off pipe (2) . Tighten : * The screws (3) (in the order indicated from 1 to 4) to 3,3 ± 0,5 m.daN * The connector (2) using a pipe spanner : tighten to 1,7 ± 0,1 m.daN * Clamping collar (1) : tighten to 2,5 ± 0,4 m.daN N.B. : Fill the additive reservoir (see the relevant operation) .
  5. the filter cant go wrong with low miles like that its designed to be reset and cleaned by Citroen on diagnostic tool at 56k, take a drive on the motorway and keep to 70mph for 1/4 mile that should clean it and turn the light off ( keep it at 70mph and don't excelerate or drop your speed ) otherwise you will loose the set up
  6. I used to wear those glasses lol and seriously remember the vauxhall problems and they still persist even today and not even comparable to the lovely Citroen's which are 100% better and miles ahead in looks like the DS, vauxhall did make some nice motors though but not before 25years ago when style counted
  7. more like it should be an issue taken seriously by Citroen/PSA
  8. buy it new and see how it holds its value
  9. its not illegal to repair your own stuff as long as it meets safety regs and your competent and you can still buy repair kits but getting harder
  10. its mainly the youth of today and they will take anything for a buzz but lets not knock the xantia its a good car especially the V6
  11. no cabin filter on that car
  12. http://cx.podolsk.ru/xm/docum/haynes_zx/zx-00.pdf http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q...l+pdf&meta= try ebay for the radio
  13. not a 100% but I think the top cover is like a sleeve going over the frame but the cable should be able to be threaded down the inside rather than having to cut into it
  14. the 90 bhp has the engine code RHY and the 110 is RHZ
  15. your not looking at the big issue and more at replacing the car parts can be a lot cheaper than you think, http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__citroen-c5-...wuscZc5Q20parts ( why would it cost £150 to fix an oil leak when you don't even know where its coming from? ) does it need a new particle filter or does it need servicing? it looses coolant would be a priority the rest are normal wear and tear and typical electrical faults you get with any car. from what I read you have condemned the car without checking real prices for the work and failed to consider doing the jobs your self ( if you cant then get help ) that will save you money in the long run. sorry if im a hard and to the point chap ;)
  16. this is not good at all and I would suggest checking all the bolts holding the steering rack and components also track rods for excess wear
  17. http://www.aamembership.co.uk/allaboutcars...&lowIndex=0 not sure if any new recalls or TIS on this problem are in place but worth asking
  18. the 2001 1.9 berlingo didn't have a turbo and totally different from the C5 which didn't have a 1.9 so sounds like it uses the older xantia engine ( not HDI ) and you could fit the 1.9TD not sure if you would need the ECU unless there are wiring issues and could effect the chip in key immobiliser if it has it otherwise I don't see any problems
  19. Ive done this a few times and no problems, disconnect the negative on the battery ( prevents airbag issues ) then go into the seat and repair the cable or fit a new one, no need to split the top of the seat access can be gained via the rear cover, now when done reconnect the battery earth which resets the airbags as long as you don't mess with the wires to the airbags ( if you remove the seat disconnect the airbag wire only after the battery earth has been removed ) otherwise it will log a fault and remember the radio code. do not leave keys in the car without the driver door window open as when reconnecting the battery will lock the doors and your keys in :o some cars require the ignition to be on before the battery is reconnected to reset the airbags so if you get the light on then disconnect the earth and redo it with the ignition on and no one in the car of course
  20. (IAC) idle control valve on the throttle body it has a 4 pin connector marked A B C D to check the resistance use a multi meter on A&D resistance should be approx 53 ohms and then B&C should be the same, if not replace the unit
  21. the dealer sells them and not expensive
  22. there is no car made that cant be stolen with the right tools like a tow truck/fork lift that's how the council takes them when your parked in a no park area so there is nothing stopping the thief from using the same method but they would do it to strip it for parts rather than for them selves
  23. actia BS 4215 E.L.I.T cd 12 upgraded ( Citroen main dealer diagnostic tool ) does all citroen's to 2001 not the C5 though,
  24. just got one cough and very nice ( mother loves it ) ill still keep my xantia II though as it the last of the line, http://www.snuffledopple.com/images/10124k.jpg one day I might get a real one lol
