Handbrake Cable Hanging Loose + Boot Lock Failure
techbod replied to JSladen's topic in Technical Section
that rubber bit round the cable should clip into the holder on the tank where its meant to be -
eloys tank is in the front inner wheel arch passenger side im told ( never worked on one yet ) :) FAP filter the other one is for the exhaust so here is the proper image http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/techbod/fap2.jpg DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 01 0341 E6 01 EXH MANIFOLD - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 02 0349 H4 01 EXH MANIF GASK - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 03 0353 07 08 PIPE SPACER 8X16-40 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 04 0341 22 08 NUT WITH BASE 8X125-11-17,5 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 05 0376 41 03 SUPPORT STUD 8X125-25 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 06 0355 65 04 CYL-HEAD STUD M8X1,25-85-12-33 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 10 1709 30 01 EXH BKT SEAL - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 11 1705 LJ 01 PRECATYL PIPING TR PSA K210 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER AND BVM 1705 LK 01 TR PSA K210 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER AND BVA 12 1731 S0 RP 1731 X1 01 01 CATALYST MUFFLR TR PSA K211 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER UNTIL RPO No. 09155 1731 X1 01 TR PSA K211/244 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER SINCE RPO No. 09156 13 1731 R9 01 NEW P FILT PIPE TR PSA F004 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 1740 04 01 PF PIPE ST-EX TR PSA F004 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 14 1709 28 01 EXH BKT SEAL - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 15 1718 12 08 NUT WITH BASE 8X125 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 16 1713 69 01 FIXING CLAMP DIAM 74,5 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 17 1755 91 01 EXHAUST MOUNTG - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER UNTIL RPO No. 09981 1755 H7 01 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER SINCE RPO No. 09982 18 0355 68 08 STUD M8X125 IM15 L32 E6 - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 19 1714 H4 01 PRESSURE PIPE - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 20 1714 A0 01 PRESSURE PIPE - DW10ATED TURBO DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER 70 6936 C9 02 NUT WITH BASE 6X100 71 6934 27 01 WASHER-NUT 6X100-6,25-10 72 6922 73 01 SELF-TAP SCREWS DIAM 6X100-12 73 6930 94 04 STUD 8X125-72-16-12 74 6930 95 02 STUD 6X100-22-16-10

to check if the oil and filter has been changed 2 weeks ago see if the oil is very clean and if its a diesel hold the dipstick upside down and see if it runs quick down the dipstick if its slow it hasn't been done and remember a filter can be wiped to make it look new so look for obvious age marks like rust on the filter rim

Handbrake Cable Hanging Loose + Boot Lock Failure
techbod replied to JSladen's topic in Technical Section
there should be a clip for the cable to hang on, if its loose that side hand break will be weak if the clip has rusted off use an electrical tie wrap just don't tie it to the anti roll bar because it moves and that would fail the MOT :) -
all the sensors do is measure the millage and the density of the FAP and other sensors like the o2 sensors wont throw codes because its not the same as if you did a decat the sensors have to be left in, the FAP filter has no electrical connections and not linked to any ECU and the light on the dash is a pollution warning and the FAP is getting blocked so if its not there it cant get blocked remember the early diesels don't have it so personally I don't see how it would make any difference if it wasn't there apart from the pollution factor which is in doubt that it works effectively and causes more noxious gasses than a standard diesel that's why Peugeot has put it on hold till the gov delve into its issues. I have been looking into the FAP system for a while now so I know a little about how it works :)

I would say remove the cover from the rear of the headlight unit so you can see all the bulbs

Xantia 1.9 Td Sx Ride Quality
techbod replied to DocBrown's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
that's better ;) because other might get the wrong idea and attempt to remove them without depressurize the system, only give your enemies that idea :) j/k -
http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr53/techbod/fap.jpg its in the pipe item 2 and car has to be on axle stands/ramps it shouldn't be too difficult to remove and I cant see it doing any damage because all it is is a filter a bit like doing a decat if you look at the images on this link it shows you where it is http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...6GB297%26sa%3DN

it might be worth cleaning the ends of the injectors and glow plugs they could be greased up with chip fat
-
depends on if the oil and filter has been changed when they should have but I would say new sensor if it has been serviced well, im not into the coms 2000 yet
-
if a garage had lexia 3 it would be able to do it but doesn't have to be a Citroen dealer perhaps someone will see this post and contact you :) you could also ask the dealer to just clean it out for you and not to fit a new filter as they only clean them anyways as part of a service at 50k so shouldn't cost much to do that, personally after reading that review on the FAP filter I would just remove it completely because all it does is restrict the exhaust flow when it gets blocked so without it in there it should run better

this is a news quote Peugeot's award-winning FAP particulate filter is not the key to the acceptance of diesel engines that its maker had hoped. The new Peugeot 307, which goes on sale on 1 June, will have a choice of three diesel engines but only one, the 110bhp 2.0-litre Dturbo model, has the FAP filter. Plans to use this technology for all Peugeot diesels have been put on hold. The particulate filter system was introduced with a great fanfare in 1999. It removes the main environmental objection to diesels - the fine particles of soot in exhaust smoke. As leader of the diesel car market in the UK, Peugeot sought exemption from the tax penalties applied to diesels - VED and the forthcoming CO2 benefit-in-kind rules for company car drivers. Government officials rejected their case because the FAP-equipped engines produce slightly more of another pollutant - oxides of nitrogen (NOx) - than the normal diesel. Peugeot engineers say that the NOx can be controlled by fine tuning the engine but that will result in more carbon particles, which will reduce the service life of the filter unit. There is already a question of how best to handle cleaning the unit at 50,000 miles, when the tank of fuel additive that the system requires needs to be replenished. Peugeot recognises that this increases the vehicle's whole-life costs. The government has not responded positively and Peugeot has not licensed the technology to other car makers. I would remove the filter knowing the above and save money

we help where we can and welcome :)

its needs cleaning out rather than changing the garage has the diagnostics to do that and reset the ECU but you could clean it out with a jet washer after you take it out then dry it out before its put back in I think they are £25 new but it still needs to be reset and plenty of guys on the site have the tools for that depending on where you are like coastline taxi in sunderland http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showuser=10477 you could pm him. plenty of links here to show you what to do, http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=na...+the+fap+filter

Xantia 1.9 Td Sx Ride Quality

suspension on full height and undone the spheres :( your lucky to be alive, to do it properly raise the car to full height then put axle stand under it now with engine running lower the suspension to lowest position then undo the bleed nut to depressurize the system then change the spheres, failure to do it that way and you risk serious injury because of the pressure in the system and fitting new spears when its at full height will lock air in the system. if your car has the rear center sphere you cant use the older type which didn't have the center sphere like the bx they are very different so stick to what they should be -
hmmm I agree with the above^ but I still think they are supposed to check the car out at 500 miles like the old days to ensure nothing has come loose ( not sure about the oil change ) sad if it has been dropped because these engines are not pre-run in like Honda so you will get metal particle build up in the sump, to be on the safe side its always better to check with the dealer and let them put the foot in the mouth at least that way the ball is in their court and your covered :( this is advice only

from most of the newer cars ive worked on you need to find a permanent live for the memory due to the way the factory radio wiring is installed to prevent battery drain ( your bypassing the standard wiring with you aftermarket radio ) unless you buy the proper cable adaptor which will link the steering wheel controls and the dash display, some times changing the orange wire to the red and viceversa it could work but not always
-
now that's more like it :( is going to get one at that price :)
-
good choice once you get it loose you could put some locking grips/monkey wrench on it to turn it out

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-XANTIA-C5-XM...id=p3286.c0.m14 looking at it you could tap it round with a hammer and thin chisel that tool is expensive £50 on ebay :( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-Ball-Joint-R...005127001r14333 getting cheaper

its a common fault on Citroen's which have AC and its a little fan in the center of the dash, on the xantia its next to the clock behind a little vent which has the clear LED on it for the internal motion sensors when they are deactivated the led flashes, yours is probably in the same place and what happens is the wire for the LED catches the little an and that's the noise you get you need to get to it and move the wire away from the fan, the fan is used by the AC to measure the temps in the car
-
I can imagine :( what was it in the car they were after? did you leave my Rolex watch on the dash j/k but seriously what did they go for?

P0485 Cooling Fan Power/Ground Circuit Malfunction Sagem S2000 - Cooling function incorporated in the engine management ECU ME744 - Fan assembly function. Coherence. this tells me you have a short in the wiring making the system live all the time even when the keys are out and engine stopped, check the wiring. £130 and they couldn't find that what a bunch of Ws
