From what you have said it sounds like this happens when the car is stopped and the engine is idling. Does the car cut out when in neutral or only when in gear with the clutch down? Do you have climate control or air con and the car cuts out when this kicks in? Ian Black 55 VTR+

Seeing as a clutch can last anything from 40,000 to over 100,000 miles depending upon driving style get them to show you how warn the warn part is compared to a new one. If you know you slip the clutch a lot of have lots of hill starts, then maybe the clutch parts are warn. If you have a low milage car and know you do not abuse the clutch get a 2nd and 3rd opinion (maybe from the AA or another motoring organisation). I would always be suspicious of a failure just after work has been done on the car even if it was just an MOT. Ian Black 55 VTR+

My car had the cruise control fault from new (Dec 05). When I reported it at the 1500 mile inspection I was told just to see if it happened again (as it was an intermittant fault and could not be made to happen in front of a mechanic). When the car went in for some recall work in April I mentioned the fault again and was told a software patch had been installed and this should cure the fault. This did seem to lessen the frequency of the fault but it was still there. At the cars 12500 mile service I mentioned the fault again and the clutch sensor was replaced. So far I have not had the problem since, but it has taken 9 months and had to be reported at least 3 times. It depends when Citroen become aware of a fault and how to fix it and also when a dealer becomes aware that there is a common fault and knows how to fix it. You may have read in another posting by KFK that Citroen dealers have to do a lot of fault finding work for themselves at their own expense. A major advantage of a forum such as this is that all owners and dealers can share experiences and information can be gathered and passed on much faster than a large corporation such as Citroen can operate. I would let your dealer know how other owners had the problem fixed and check they have already tried these options (software updates and clutch sensor). Ian Black 55 VTR+

Old fashioned stick it in the lock kind of key. Different models seem to get issued with different 2nd keys, some owners get 2 PLIP type keys others get 1 PLIP and one non PLIP. Ian Black 55 VTR+

I see the French Citroen site now has the C4 Picasso as a listed product with configuration options and pricing. Seems to be about 30k Euros, around 20k Steling. http://www.citroen.fr/CWF/citroen/Pvn/Pres...8b-03b2006a0f01 Expect the UK launch will be early 2007. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Just check every switch, button handle, the spare wheel. Make sure it has all the things it should in terms of spec. Some things you can't check until you drive it, like the cruise and limiter functions. See how many miles it has done ( I think mine had done 27). Make sure you get all the documentation (including scratch card) and 2 keys (1 PLIP, 1 normal). Ian Black 55 VTR+

Just been reading about the MKII BMW/Mini it says... Source:http://www.channel4.com/4car/rt/mini/cooper+s/1082/2 Does this mean you will soon be paying Citroen prices for BMW engines and can we look at a BMW and think they have the same engine as a Citroen. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Since my dealer replaced the rear suspension I no longer have the front suspension knock when pulling away. The dealer said the rear suspension was rubbing which is why they replaced it under warranty. I can only assume that with the rear suspension not performing correctly the front struts are getting more load and causing the knocking. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Which means the quality management systems in place are those made up and set by the company so if the companies ISO 9001 policy document states that 99 faults out of every 100 products is acceptable then it is. ISO 9001 is a quality management system is NOT a manufacturing or safety standard. What about the companies ISO 14000 policy? Ian Black 55 VTR+

Video of the concept car at the Paris motor show on the Auto Express website http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/autoexpresstv...n_cmetisse.html Why do swing wing doors hardly ever make it from concept to production? Ian Black 55 VTR+

Could just be the tappets waiting to get some oil. Does it happen every time you start the engine or only from cold (being left more than an hour)? Ian Black 55 VTR+

1.6Hdi (110) At 2 bars most of the time, sometimes gets to 3 but not for very long. Idles at 800-900 rpm which goes down slightly if all of the toys are off (lights, climate control, radio). Takes about 2-3 miles to warm up. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Why not just leave it in the car and write it down on a piece of paper as well (keep it in the same pace as all of your PIN numbers). You could also keep a note of it in your mobile phone. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Not sure how much you want to spend on security but you could go for a self activating security light and a cheap wireless webcam then you get a picture and some evidence. Are there any groups of kids that hang about in your area, just takes a couple of ciders for them to start daring each other to do daft things "just for fun" and they never get charged for any offence as they are classed as minors. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Is this 1 problem or 2 different issues? If you search through the C4 postings you will see that the 1.6HDi (110BHP) VTR+ 5 door cars have known issues with cruise control failure. The 2 known issues are resolved by either a software patch or replacing the clutch sensor (or both). Ian Black 55 VTR+

Insurance has nothing to do with how it benefits the customer i.e giving you cover for what you insure. It is a financial product with a risk assessment and every financial institution has set amounts of money they put asside and different risk ratings. So if you apply at a time when they are close to their financial target you get a poor quote. If you do not match the risk profile you get a poor quote. Apply when they have lots of funds available and match the low risk criteria they have have set and you get a good quote. It's as simple as that. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Had the rear suspension replaced under warranty the other day. Seems to have made the ride a bit softer but also seems to have lost the front suspension knock. So maybe the car now sits lower at the back and leaves more suspension travel at the front. Ian Black 55 VTR+

Why do you find the mirror is too low? Does it not let you see what is behind you, mine works fine for that. I would like a manual dip feature on the auto dip rear view as sometimes the sensors get it wrong. Sun visors not reaching the corner of the windscreen is a bit of a pain. Ian Black 55 VTR+

I see Auto Express now have a preview of the C4 Picasso http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/motoring...c4_picasso.html With this interesting feature... Ian Black 55 VTR+

When my car had it's 12,500 mile service last week the did an engine management software update. This seems to have reset lots of things that I can change back, door locking, 24 hr time etc etc. However, I now have a new feature on the front passenger side window. The window will only move in 2cm increments both opening and closing. So to fully open or close the window you have to press the switch about 8 times. This is the same for the driver and passenger side switch. 2 Questions 1) Is the one touch window open/close user configurable (or dealer only) 2) How many options are there, 1 touch, 2 touch through to 8 touch to to open/close. All other windows are as they were before with the 1 touch feature. Ian Black 55 VTR+
